There are a few offices for the public transport system. You can find them at larger metro stations and in a couple of shopping malls. If you're visiting, you probably won't need to use one. You can buy tickets from machines at every metro station and now they have them on every bus and tram (however the ones on bus/tram only take cards rather than cash).

Interestingly he was probably in the same English class at high school as Ludwig Wittgenstein (born 4 days apart, both attended the Linz Realschule at the same time). Neither did well in the class (2 out of 5 in their exam) however Wittgenstein blossomed later. I was just reading about General Sanders' forthcomig speech that you mentioned and he's saying nothing of the sort.

In fact he said he wouldn't support conscription in peace time. He's complaining (rightly and not for the first time) about slow army recruitment, outsourcing of their recruitment function to a private company and how picky they were and how many potential recruits are rejected.

Exactly that, and that's part of the strength of Conrad.

The quality is in the plot devices (just think of Nostromo) rather than the prose. He was a male writer writing for male readers, sort of the opposite of Virginia Woolf with her subtle thoughts conveyed in complex prose and very little action.


A very underrated person. He can't have been easy to live with however they seem to have been a devoted couple.

Gubalowka allegedly has quite a history, however it's largely history as is a particular site in the north east and witches rarely if ever work at night.

Of course a witch, often on a broomstick, is a symbol of the Świętokrzyskie and that region does have a sort of magical feel to it, a bit like the Harz Mountains.

One of the world's great languages (not a term that fits Polish well) and the language with by far the largest literary corpus.

You don't though.

Although Polish isn't a primitive language, its verbosity doesn't really help it and of course the flexibility's not really there. That makes it easier to speak an a non-native of course.
