Life / Do you know these characters from Polish movies? [223]

I think Mishell (???) Is Mongolian or partly Mongolian but I'm not sure. Ola Szwed is half Polish. The thing was that when they came from the orphanage, they kept claiming they were twins.

BTW, Metallica played Sen o Warszawie in Warsaw

@Chemikiem
It did sound great. I love listening to it. And he sang it in Polish!!!
In Praque they played Jozin z bazin :D

And since I got off topic and risk being put in random chat, who are they?

Of course you were right both about Pola Raksa and Religa.

As for Religa, do you guys know that photo of him published in National Geographic? It was entitled 'Anxious eyes', I believe. Great shot.

Tomasz Kot is great and of course you got it right.
How about this character? When I looked at him, I saw the man he played: the posture, the gestures. ..

As for Metallica, have a look at this video:

I love it :)

Ok, I really need to renew this thread.
Who is the actor? What's the film? Who does he play?
And some more bonus virtual points if you know what Polish song Metallica played in Poland last year.

UK, Ireland / Why are Polish people, especially women, so disrespectful toward the English? [437]

I don't know how I managed to have lived my life without bribing anyone.

As for the latest topic in the thread, I sense trolling or some sort a bad period in life when someone needs to find someone to blame for all the misfortunes happening to them. As much as I can believe it's quite possible that a supervisor or co-workers might have been nasty, I doubt Poles are to be blamed for everything. Also first days in a job might be difficult. Not to mention the fact that a regular Pole, even speaking English will rather say 'do it' rather than 'Could you possibly do it if you don't mind, please? How was your journey to work, sweetheart?'

Genealogy / How to find a burial site / records in Poland... [80]

@Chemikiem
Thank you for your kind words but I'm afraid I won't be of much help here.

@Karolina Akerman
There's grobonet.com where you may find some graves but I believe not many cementaries are indexed there. It wasn't working when I tried to look for 'Akerman'. You can try later.

As far as I know human ashes need to be buried in cementaries according to the Polish law -unless something has changed recently.
I don't know what's happened in your family but I'd start with asking people who took her ashes where she's buried.

If that's somehow impossible, locate the cementary /cementaries in the area and contact either the parish or the administration of the cementary.

Nikodem vel Nilość Dyzma

Now a woman whose face was mentioned in one of the most recognisable Polish ballads in one of her earliest roles.

There were no such caretakers where I have lived. Just people employed by the administration who would do the cleaning, check the water meter etc but not living in the block of flats.

As for Alternatywy 4, the last episode is the best.

Now who's he? :)

It was a TV play - a comedy and Kondrat plays a devil. I remember my parents liked it and I saw it with them. But I can't remember the title.

Oh, those innocent times when an actor could dress as a woman without offending anyone; )
Now eighty years later we 'moved on' ;)

Now if we're to be diverse ... who's that?
I hated it.

Marta from Pociąg.

Both Stuhrs are really good actors. Maciek is probably in his forties so not really a new generation.
His impersonifications are great -like the one of Gustaw Holoubek, talking about post war acting.

How about him

Good job.

And that's Juliusz.
I liked it and I can't say that about most recent Polish comedies.

Now not a comedy but one of the great ones and another group photo.

The actress from Hydrozagadka is Iga Cembrzynska but I have no idea what the name of the character is.
The one above is of course Ania Przybylska but I have no idea what film it is as for Polish comedies I prefer the good old ones.

And I'm truly disappointed no one got mine. :P
