the first reaction of many East Germans was not to try again, but to leave the country in such large numbers, that the GDR built a wall.

....yeah....similar to all the Germans ethnically cleansed by the victors of WWII from their lands and homes....

....The fundamental right to asylum, developed in the discussions of the Parliamentary Council in 1948/49, was a reaction to the expulsions from the "Third Reich" and thus marked a symbolic distancing from the Nazi past. Furthermore, it demonstrated to the three Western occupying powers the recognition of the human rights regulations established after the Second World War, particularly with the founding of the United Nations. However, another aspect was even more decisive: the members of the Parliamentary Council assumed that the majority of those who could claim asylum in the West would come from the Soviet occupation zone....

bpb.de/themen/migration-integration/kurzdossiers/224641/wie-ist-das-asylrecht-entstanden/

Without the millions of GERMANS fleeing the soviet zone of occupation, who knows if that special german law of asylum would exist at all....

Ukrainians are no more or less "real" refugees

Germany can't be the saviour of the world....if we can keep our neighbourhood in order then that alone is alot to stem....right now we can neither, its time to set our priorities right.
We are no rich, well functioning country anymore....you are afraid of a rising AfD? Then why are you insisting to carry on all these things which make the AfD bigger and bigger?

German laws and EU laws are not set in stone....when they stop working or even worse have unwanted outcomes, they need to be changed, adapted or thrown in the bin.

Either the actual ruling parties do it...or the AfD does it....there is not much time left to chose!

how are countries supposed to keep them when they really want to access German welfare?

PS: I like Maf's question....but you know the only answer to that don't you, Tac?

The only way is for Germany to cut out the "pull factors"....no more huge social benefits for every newcomer plus clan....only a bed and daily bread....the usual, nothing more.
No longer a reason to travel half the world, wandering through dozens of already safe-third-Countries....

So some Germans are less equal than other Germans.

My English sucks I know...bear with me!

Just a summary to convey it maybe better....

Nearly half of the citizen's allowance recipients in Germany do not have a German passport. At the end of 2024, approximately 2.6 million people without a German passport received citizen's allowance, which corresponds to almost 48 percent of all recipients, according to the Federal Employment Agency. This proportion has increased significantly in recent years.

....I have to take a break here....till later, guys and gals *waves*

What is that? 'Bio-Germans' is a new term for me.

Yeah....I was abit puzzled as I heard it the first time too, its quite new! Ostensibly the choices had been:

"native" - Germans and

"already living here for a long time" - Germans.

I've read the Turks came up first with Bio-Deutsch to differentiate us to those with "Migrations-Hintergrund" like them. And it won clearly....its becoming an easy self-description, compared to those "passport-Germans", especially as it gets easier and easier to get a passport....just that doesn't make you a German anymore!

Are all Germans not equal there?

No! Alone the fact that some Mohammed freshly in (plus his following 250people clan), not one day working, no language, gets the same high social benefits as someone who labored hard his whole life shows clearly that the gov cares alot less about the "schon länger hier lebenden", but shoves all the money we no longer have into their backholes for free!

Thats discrimination!

The other 65 million people in the country did not attend a silly march.

Frankly I was abit shocked as I heard and saw these numbers! Conservative, rightists are not prone to take to the streets, you know....we are not the loudly gathering and plan demonstrations kind...that has always been a forte of the Leftists.

That now still that many took to the streets should be a clear warning to the gov in London...the support, the anger, the frustration should be even much bigger than the number of protesters had been.

Like with the Titanic and the iceberg....the captain didn't acknowledge/ignored the much bigger mass under the sea surface, so that big ship sunk!

Who's we?

The great majority of us Bio-Germans! (plus some already well integrated non-german Europeans!)

...Seventy-one percent of Germans believe that immigration from predominantly Muslim countries poses a significant security risk for Germany. Nine percent disagree, and 20 percent did not provide an answer....

bild.de/politik/ausland/politik-ausland/brisante-umfrage-das-denken-die-deutschen-ueber-islamische-zuwanderung-85778594.bild.html

...and that was 2023....you can bet these numbers have soared!

Nobody is afraid of fascists.

All fascists? All 110.000 of them?

Do you expect everyone to have the same way of thinking as you and get stressed if they don't?

They are IMMIGRANTS, jon!

They wander about half the globe to IMMIGRATE HERE!

Yes, here one expects them to fit in, to integrate...to at least know how different our way of life is...at least wanting to integrate! Otherwise there are about 50 muslimic countries they could chose from...some of them richest on Earth....but noooo, they did chose another contintent, a totally different culture, language, tradition...its on them to show us that it was a good decision to let them in.

Its NOT our duty to make them here feel "like home"...to change our laws to fit THEM better, so that it here looks on our streets like streets in Kabul or Damaskus or Tunis or wherever!

Is that so strange to you???

Why not?

Why do I need to repeat myself?

Scarf/Hijab/Burka, what ever you call it = stoneage backwards Islam

And under it a girl/woman who probably doesn't want to wear it, but is forced to by its family which would even go so far as kill the girl if she dares to object.

To do nothing to help that girl is "failure to assist a person in danger" and usually punishable!

Of course you will say now that nobody can know for sure if that girl under it is not really wanting to wear that, she may even love islam...but hey, for that there is an easy solution:

Ask these muslims at the begin: Will you give up these incompatible traditions and welcome the western way of living? Yes or No

With "yes" they are in...but with "no" they are out!

An easy weeding out before it gets bad...most muslims will surely want to keep their stoneage traditions and look further for a more fitting country to try next.
But of course...people know the prize and many will try to lie about it....but that can be easily handled....once being caught lying, for example wearing that headscarf, its up for the whole clan back to the nearest airport and good bye!

Could be really easy if a gov truly want to!

Does women's clothing trigger you?

Yes, it does....I don't want to see them on my streets...they are a nightmare from far away places, seen formerly only on TV. That now children in german schools have to/ are allowed to show that most clear sign of this backwards religion is disturbing, to say at least.

No woman should have to wear it, but okay...in their own countries, they can govern how they want. But not here...not in the West!

Late Iron Age, like Christianity, also a Middle Eastern faith.

Yes....Islam needs its Reformation too....maybe in 500 years, it will have changed so far to have become acceptable, but surely not now!

So people being socially conservative is a problem for you?

Coming from a Leftie, thats funny! 😎

and the Germans of Turkish descent that I see in your city seem very nicely settled.

I will give you one more...lotsa former guest-worker vote AfD nowadays. They also seem to find it highly unfair how easy it is for these newcomers to get everything they had to work hard for many years!

...Support out of frustration with immigration policy

Twenty-two percent of comments report that well-integrated migrants - for example, those of Turkish, Russian, or Polish origin - are increasingly voting for the AfD. They emphasize their willingness to work and integrate, but see their interests undermined by new immigrants. They view the AfD as a voice of conservative values....

Ukrainians are by no means universally welcomed by their host countries and there is a growing backlash against them.

No....I dunno about Poles, but when Germans get frustrated its rarely about the Ukrainians....they ARE actually real refugees. Not like Ali or Mohammed from far away countries which made it through several safe-third-countries to open their hands for Bürgergeld once they reach our border, at the same time texting their folks at home to pack their bags and get ready, as they will soon be able to come too thanks to the "Familiennachzug"!

The two largest groups of non-European refugees are from Syria and Afghanistan

Why the heck is Germany on duty to take these people in in the first place??? You've got to be **** kidding me!!!!

We are not on duty to save the world...and the world doesn't work like that, humans don't work like that! These people making it from these far places are often the young, healthy males, not the most vulnerable....they should better stay at home and fight there for their own betterment and the betterment of their country!

Everything is so wrong with that, can't you see that!!!

it also ignores the limit of what they can do.

The West might have reached its limit too, Tacitus....

Why not?

...ask them?

They want their women hidden under scarfs, want to keep adhering to their stone age religion which so totally doesn't fit a western civilization, whose whole culture and tradition is based on a much different religion which has gone through an extremely long and painfull processes like the reformation.

Now the most anti-semitism, the most women-hostile, the most anti-queer behaviour doesn't come from the conservative Germans or the AfD, it comes from these muslims, who never will give up all their cultural traditions and surely not their stoneage religion to immigrate into a western, european civilization with their totally different views and laws!

Its even understandable....if I would go to live in a muslim country I still would never stop being a German, would never become a muslim etc.

Now the main problem is these muslim just sought to immigrate into an incompatible society, and they were even invited...this error had been made, this error needs to be corrected. Islam will never be a part of the West. Or the West stops being the West...its that easy!

And I don't see a western majority giving up so easily....that's why the right-extremists are gaining everywhere!

We need a European solution before this can happen.

We keep on mixing thigs together which need to be seen and handled differently! (Don't you see that yourself?)

The frustration of the people in all western countries are not with the war-refugees from Ukraine, its about the masses of illegals from far away regions like north Afrika or Arabia!

Real refugees through the times have fled into neighbouring countries, waiting there in relatively safety till a return would be possible...never were the hosts forced to house them, to feed them, to PAY them! All was about generosity and humanity towards culturally, religiously, traditionally close people in need, neighbours!

What happens now is anything but!!! I wish you would argument like it....not talking about this global mass movement with the same breath as Ukraine!

I bet you, if there weren't already so many unwanted, not-integratable, often illegal not-refugees, the will to take in more real ukrainian refugees would be much bigger!

or the EU decides to relocate the refugees and each country takes in their share based on its' wealth and population size.

You know as well as I as that this is against the populations wishes, in every country!

With such "solutions" from far away Brussels the EU will destroy itself, even without any extremist party....no national gov can sustain its plausability with their electorate in the long run with following such far-reaching decisions against their will....that is no rocket science...for gods sake Tacitus!!!!

I just hope Germany is able to stabilise her internal problems and grow more Indie companies. Too many big ones have been sold abroad.

For that the gov needs to treat our industry better....less costs / more profit!

But as long as lefties like the SPD or the Greens are having such a say that won't happen. It all started to fall down with the totally unnecessary and dumb end of the cheapest and most clean and easily available energy source we had, the nuclear power plants.

Now we are broke....our "Bundesrechnungshof" is screaming loudly already....but hey....right now nearly 48% of all people getting free german social goods are foreigners...now that is of course so much more important!

de.statista.com/statistik/daten/studie/1560171/umfrage/auslaenderanteil-bei-arbeitslosengeld-ii-buergergeld-in-deutschland/

The refugee crisis is just the key issue the AfD wants to exploit in order to get into a position that allows them to implement their real plans.

I could even agree with that....now it would be logical for the ruling parties to end this particular crisis themselves and with that stopping the rise of the AfD, wouldn't it! Merz won the last elections because he promised the "End of Left", a "Zeitenwende"....seriously, maybe he needs more time, but he already broke some of his biggest promises, and the coalition with the SPD might make a real change impossible.

I guess many new AfD voter will come be disappointed and angry former CDU voter.

Höckes eigentliches Feindbild ist nicht Merkel, sondern Adenauer

Might be, might not be....did Höcke tell that the author himself? I can't find any links for that (besides to that new book).....I would like to hear that in an interview.

And then there is Weidel...the current party leader! I wonder what she thinks about Adenauer....

Sounds easy right?

It is! If you truly wanted to!

But like you there are to many people in power who just don't want to and find reasons to go around this law and still keep them coming! No matter what a rising number of people thinks and want!

And THAT is scary...because there is only one end to that, a ruling AfD! (And no, I don't believe any try to ban the party will be successful).

The courts have been very clear on this issue.

That is something the AfD couldn't change even if they got above 50% of the votes.

Again....when they can't change things....why the heck do you fear them so much?

PS: There is one thing that puzzles me....you know, the "safe third-country rule"....imagine the AfD really following that law, truly shoving everybody back out who enters german soil through another safe democratic country, our neighbours! No big change, no new law...just truly implementing an already existing law....man! :)

translated:

An asylum seeker is not entitled to asylum if they enter from a safe third country, as entry via such a country excludes the right to asylum. A safe third country is a country in which the person is protected from persecution and has access to effective protection and legal assistance. In Germany, EU member states and certain other countries such as Norway and Switzerland are considered safe third countries.

You mean like border controles that prevent refugees from entering Germany?

That is highly inefficient if anybody who comes through still can claim asylum and start the whole process!

Much much much more efficient will be to cut these promises in the first place...no more free money for any newcomer...no more "pull factors"! If they still think it a good idea to start the asylum process they get only the necessary things, food, water, a roof over the head, nothing more...and especially no longer free access to all the social goods even without having worked for it one day!

You will see the freeloader running....looking elsewhere for greener (!) pastures!

And don't you dare to repeat the LIE these pull-factors don't exist, or that our economy will break down without Ali the delivery guy or Hassan the old-arse-wiper, these jobs are not popular with them, they have mostly other plans....these people don't wander over half of the globe to enjoy our great weather, our famous language or our incredible friendliness....the german generosity has become world wide known....and now our social system is breaking down because of it!

Just imagine all the money right now paid for millions of foreigners becoming available again for our retirees or our health care...."two birds with one stone"!

You can be sure that if Ukraine collapses, several million Ukrainians will make their way West.

Thing is our law of asylum is much rather made for Ukrainians, they are Europeans fleeing a european war....it was never meant for North Africans or Arabs!

Free competition inside the EU market without hidden traps and barriers.

Agreed! And especially without the blanket of uncountable regulations which only make lawyer happy but stifle and kill slowly every entrepreneur spirit...

I am simply taking the AfD at their word. While your views on them seem to guided by wishful thinking.

....yeah....maybe....I'm actually alot more invested in their ideas and plans against inner german problems than their formulated foreign policy. Especially as they have no way to do anything about it for the foreseeable future.

I guess thats the way most interested observer and even voter handle that...

Quite a lot of them would probably be happy if Russia ended up occupying Germany again because they believe that Putin would put them in charge.

?

Any links for that?

Astounding that you have so much understanding for the pro-russian Lefties in the RULING SPD aka "Das Russland-Manifest", but expect the apocalypse when the AfD does it???

....The so-called manifesto calls for a departure from the current armament policy of the German government and for "cooperation with Russia."...

tagesschau.de/inland/innenpolitik/spd-verteidigung-manifest-ukraine-100.html

The SPD with their Stegners and Mützenichs is part of a ruling coalition in Berlin...which will have no qualms to ally with the Linke, if need be, whose standing concerning Ukraine/Putin is at least contested inside the party too.

But the AfD is the main problem? REALLY?

....can't help it Tac...but that sounds alot like "fearmongering!" I guess we will only know for sure when they really get a say....

Are you aware of a single prominent figure within the AfD who has been really critical of Putin?

I had to google that actually! But there seems to be a shift of opinion/mood inside the AfD:

....Opposition to the notoriously pro-Kremlin line is growing within the party, and foreign policy spokesman and Putin sympathizer Matthias Moosdorf was voted out. But his successor also has numerous connections to Russia....

sueddeutsche.de/politik/afd-russland-afd-fraktion-chrupalla-li.3253054?reduced=true

The AfD is on its way to a "Volkspartei"...it seems natural that there are now more moderate and also radical opinions represented.

The general problem for the leadership seems to be (IMHO of course), the promise to their voters to rebuild our safe energy supply. In short: "Give us our russian gas back....and down with the annoying wind mills, up with the power plants again!"

That war in Ukraine is hence nothing but an annoyance, thats not the same as supporting Putin's invasion....but for a future good relationship with Russia they can hardly blast him like nearly everybody else does....quite the pickle for the AfD....

On the other side (and there is always one)....the AfD is not alone in seeking a better relationship with Moscow, and compared to the SPD she hasn't even the same kind of longstanding contacts yet aka "Petersburger Dialog"...I bet they were talking about Ukraine too...albeit inofficially and secretly....of course!

SPD politician Stegner and other MPs defend meetings with Putin confidants

News / Will PiS be happy if AfD wins elections in Germany? [1440]

And the AfD is even worse

I'm honest I'm no expert with french politics...but I remember Marco Wanderwitz, an especially outspoken pro AfD-Verbot former CDU politician, being asked what exactly should such a Verbot gain the other parties...he answered summarily: "Time!" That a ban will make it possible for the current parties and politicians and elites to turn the wheel around at last and rebuild the country and with that also the trust in the democratic institutions."(My free summary)

And now looking at France, it doesn't seem that all that banding together and keeping out and "Kampf gegen Rechts" has changed the country for the better in any way...

It can't possibly get any worse. But it could and it did.

How so? LePen opening the Gulags? Weidel invading Poland and gassing Jews? What exactly do you fear so much???

News / Will PiS be happy if AfD wins elections in Germany? [1440]

We could have had a black-blue government today,

I doubt it very much....I remember the start of the AfD as an anti-Euro party, they never got seen and treated eye-to-eye, as a common political rival....they were never left enough!

I also remember the latest french elections where all the french centrists/leftists banded together to keep LePen out....and these big demos ala "Kampf gegen Rechts" from all these upstanding leftists....sounds familiar? And where stands France now....on the break of internal collapse...

But of course we will repeat all these errors...for democracy!
