Thousands are sorting out their back payments though

I'd say it's more like hundreds of thousands. As they should, given what a cracking deal the UK state pension is.

I just filled in the form and they agreed it.

Why take the chance of awkward questions when you can just submit something which will satisfy them enough to not ask for further info? One of the pieces of evident I submitted was a print out, in Polish, from the KRS website. It was all the same as on the website, but I'm fairly sure it could easily have been altered without them knowing.

six months or more before they process the payments and add them to your records.

From memory I transferred by back payments in March and they were credited in November.

Yes I paid some extra years and am waiting for a call back (or rather I got an SMS saying they had called me when they hadn't)

From my experience you don't need to wait for a call. Just fill in form CF83 after reading leaflet NI38 and then send it to the address given on CF83, not the address given on the otherwise identical form at the end of NI38. The FPC will want to see proof you're employed overseas, so send that too. If applying to pay past years, it's good to also provide proof one was employed overseas during those years too. If you don't send that proof, the FPC's first action is to write to you asking you to provide it. The point is that there's one rate (class 2 voluntary) for people who were employed (or self employed) and a significantly higher rate (class 3 voluntary) for people who weren't working.

But either way, the investment opportunity is far too good to miss out on!

Well of course as they change throughout the day

Even by the standards of Jimmy the Rapist this is hilarious!
SMI Jul 7 Open 11,969.52 High 11,983.33 Low 11,933.89 Close 11954.54
finance.yahoo[dot]com/quote/%5ESSMI/history/?period1=1751846400&period2=1751964640

The problem is that Jimmy the rapist is too stupid to understand the difference between percentage change and value change. So when the index when down by CHF 17.87, he thought it had gone down by 18%! LOL! What a f*cking moron!

so you want to compare where I live to where you live ?

If anybody does want to compare where I live to where the rapist lives, just get my address from Jim and then put it into sonarhome[dot]pl/ceny-mieszkan/gdansk to see how much it's worth and how the value has changed over time. Then Google Jim's name and the name "Richard Ruffe" (not Jim's name) to get Jim's address. Put that address into [name of county]county[dot]org/services/property_search.php
Here's his shack:

the Markets are down around the world today including ALL your stocks.

While the rapist bleets about markets going down, my biggest single shareholding is up 0.6% today. Unfortunately, it's down on the year, thanks to Don Taco, but I'm in it for a long term and it's still triple what I paid for some of those shares (back in the dark days of COVID).

SMI that you pretend to own as it is down minus 18% today.

Oh dear, yet again the rapist proves percentages are a mystery to him:
Swiss Market Index
11.954,54
−17,87 (0,15%)today
google .com/finance/quote/SMI:INDEXSWX
Although I should point out that I don't have any funds in SMI trackers, I only picked that for cms's competition here.

And now it's down 2.3%. Yet another hot tip from the Michigan Mystic!

It's the state pension. My great grandparents fought for it to exist.

Yes, there are millions of Americans who wish that they also had a state pension (but instead their great-grandparents fought to stop slaves from being freed). One of them posts here about his fantastic fantasy wealth while the reality is we can see the taxable value of his shack going down every year due to him not being able to afford repairs and his long-suffering wife has to mind other people's children despite a registered sex offender also living at that address. Would be sad if he wasn't so vile.

I will be going with TCBX

And just like that TCBX drops 1.3%. How does the Michigan Mystic do it?

pension system as if it's an investment

All pension systems and schemes are investments. The idea is to put aside money now so one isn't left in one's old age stuck in a shack with a leaky roof and an internet connection paid for by the church. Ask Jimmy how much that sucks.

What they mean is paying the minimum into the government pension system and getting much more.

I'm putting into the UK state system exactly what the UK government asks me to. If that means I get more out than I put in, that's due to them not asking for too much.
But don't forget that the Polish state system gets from my work exactly what the Polish government wants. I very much doubt I'll get back even close to what was put in there. Last year alone it was PLN 64,294. But I'll be very surprised if I get even three grand a month from ZUS when I retire, which is why I'm also maxing out IKZE each year, not touching my PPO (although I probably should get that money into a better fund) and also leaving everything that goes into my PPK in there.

While I remember, you are taking part in the PPK, aren't you? I love it: after five and half years in the scheme I have 235% of what I paid in! And as the money is taken out of your salary before it's transferred to you, you don't miss the money.

The 11 percent figure adds up

The problem is that you're using real numbers and Jimmy Rapist only uses fantasy numbers. But at least when he's fantasizing about having enough money to fix the roof of his shack he isn't fantasizing about drugging teenagers again.

Wig 30. 5.06

Looks like I went too heavy on CH and not enough on PL.

BTW, what do you think is happening with the GBP PLN exchange rate? I think I might buy enough pounds for a couple of years of NI pension contributions. You are also making full use of the class 2 voluntary contributions, aren't you?

AMZN +8.84%
TSM +16.37%
VUG +5.7%
IDCC +8.12%
CRDO +44.66%
HOOD +24.3%

How surprising that Jimmy Rapist is back to lying. His picks (in polishforums. com/off-topic/stock-market-talk-trading-part-88647/16/#msg2031841) were
AMZN - 216
TSM - 207
AMSC - 33
IDCC - 227
BROS -73
HOOD - 73

Now those are
AMZN - 223, up 3.2%
TSM - 234, up 13.0%
AMSC - 39, up 18.2%, but Jimmy sold his fantasy stocks in AMSC!
IDCC - 224, down 2.3%
BROS - 67, down 8.2%
HOOD - 94, up 28.8%, but Jimmy's too thick to work out percentages, so we'll give him the 24.3% he claims!

Lazarus pick the S&P ASIAN 50 stock at $6400 a share and pist my pants laughing.

Of course it was 6,197 when I picked it. And today it's 6,425, up 3.4%, so a better return than all but one of the stocks that Jimmy picked, hasn't claimed he sold and can correctly work out the growth of.

you can't make me

Oh but we can. We have your six picks and will be comparing them every month to everybody else's.

That's very generous of you! In the unlikely event I win, please donate to Warsaw Seva (I'm sure you know Tony from his Tandoor Palace days).

AMZN - 216
TSM - 207
AMSC - 33
IDCC - 227
BROS -73
HOOD - 73

And today:
AMZN - 213, down 1.5%
TSM - 214, up 3%
AMSC - 29, down 13%
IDCC - 221, down 3%
BROS -71, down 3%
HOOD - 74, up 1%

Anyway ref's decision - percentage gains, no currency adjustments.

Fair enough. I don't pretend to know enough about FX drivers to assess based on them anyway (although the US dollar might be in for a hard time over the next year and a half).

Was quoted 1.49% for an Irish based S&P 500 tracking ETF last week. Might be available cheaper but that was the third bank I had checked.

That does seem high for a passive tracker. Have you checked what mBank can offer? I know it's possible in theory to put IKE and IKZE funds into ETFs. If I have time (and remember), I'll check how one does that. I usually like to get my contributions in nice and early in the year, so will have a while until the 2026 contributions can go in.

you want to choose one currency to be measured in.

Interesting question. How do you want to run this? I'd be thinking that this is Polish forums, so we should base the contest in PLN. How about everybody gets six lots of PLN 100,000, exchanged into whichever currency their chosen shares/units are sold in at the NBP rate on the start date and then on each measuring date the value of their shares/units is converted back into PLN? So with WIG 30 at PLN 3,543.56 I'd get 28.217 units in that, with SMI at CHF 12.366,17 and CHF 1 = PLN 4.55 I'd get 1.7773 units in that and so on. Then on measuring day I'd get the SMI times 1.7773 and that CHF amount converted into PLN at the NBP rate for measuring day.

a 1.5% handicap that reflects the typical cost of holding an index fund for a Polish resident.

Is it that much?! I must admit that I don't read the fine print as carefully as I probably should.

Edit: is it really 1.5% for a passive tracker? I just checked the fine print for Goldman Sachs Akcji CEE (invests min 50% in Polish stocks and the rest in CEE stocks) and that's 1.9% admin fee (admittedly plus a performance fee of up to 20% of the gain).

I posted several single stocks that beat the S&P only to be mocked and diminished.

You were mocked for crowing about fantasy investments in stocks that had gone up by less than the S&P 500. Then you were mocked for claiming that you'd sold your shares and bought exchange-traded funds (people buy units in ETFs; if one person owns all of a fund, it can't be an exchange-traded fund). And then you were mocked for boasting about Tesla shares going up when you'd said months previously that you'd sold all your Tesla shares.

it always has tonic, ice and lemon, sometimes a dash of angostura, in it.

I much prefer gin neat. But for that it has to be good quality. I really the seaside-influenced gins. Edinburgh Seaside is good if you fancy trying one of those. If you like that, get a bottle of Hills & Harbour, then a bottle of Harris. All those are at Lidl (at least winnicalidla anyway). I also like the Old Tom process gins, Cotswold Distillery do a particularly good one of those. If you want something closer to a classic gin but with a twist, Roku (Japanese gin) is very good, delicate and citrusey; but I'd stay the f*ck away from the Roku Sakura Blossom edition!

But I am with you when it comes to the flavoured gins, such as the ones that Whitley Neill make. Those are generally terrible (although the rhubarb and ginger from Edinburgh Distillery is surprisingly good).

The Polish Lubuski gin is apparently very good.

It's absolutely terrible. And gives biblical hangovers if you're foolish enough to have a second glass on the basis that it can't be worse than the first.

The only Polish gin I've had that I'd drink again is 24 Herbs Gin and that one is very much only to drink with tonic.

It's drinkable and cheap.

You're half right there. Well, if one takes the approach that all liquids are drinkable once, you're completely right.

No, they tend to drink vodka, fruit flavoured 'wines' or nasty american 'whiskey'.

Round here they're all on "Special Hard". I doubt you've seen it, as it's a Dino exclusive, but it's 12% (yes, twelve percent) and 3.99 for 500ml. Not a recreational drug.

Auchan has better French wines.

Maybe, but Auchan not only still runs supermarkets in Russia, it actively supports and funds the Russian invasion of Ukraine, so I'm not buying anything from them under any circumstances.

I would advise against trying Rossmann for wine ! They are great at what they do, but wine isn't one of those

Gin from Zabka is also a terrible idea.

Lidl

If you're going to Lidl anyway, you might as well order a few bottles from WinnicaLidla.pl. It's all click and collect. Decent range of wine (although less good than a few years ago), with a better selection of whisky (well priced too). Probably the best selection of gin in Poland.

How many registered users does PF have

A better question is how many active users does PF have. What percentage of registered users have made say ten posts in each of the last three months? And also, what percentage of posts are made by the 20 most active posters? An active user may be defined as someone who actively visits the site and reads the contents. If someone goes to a park and sits on a bench as opposed to walking or socializing with other people, should that person be counted as a park goer or not. I guess it's up to one's definition.

Quoting

Who are you quoting there? You say "Despite Carroll's claims that Trump had raped her, they noted" but who are "they"? I wonder why you didn't quote the full article. Perhaps because it says this:
After Donald Trump was found liable for sexually abusing and defaming E. Jean Carroll, his legal team and his defenders lodged a frequent talking point.
Despite Carroll's claims that Trump had raped her, they noted, the jury stopped short of saying he committed that particular offence.

washingtonpost.com/politics/2023/07/19/trump-carroll-judge-rape/
Ah, so, Trump's lawyers are the ones who claim he didn't rape her.

And let's quote more from the article you didn't link to:
A judge has now clarified that this is basically a legal distinction without a real-world difference. He says that what the jury found Trump did was in fact rape, as commonly understood.

And a little more from the judge:
The finding that Ms. Carroll failed to prove that she was 'raped' within the meaning of the New York Penal Law does not mean that she failed to prove that Mr. Trump 'raped' her as many people commonly understand the word 'rape

Who was the judge

Lewis A. Kaplan

what did he say while adjudicating Trump's case of rape

The jury are the ones who found that Trump raped Ms Carroll. But if you want the judge's exact words on the topic:

the jury implicitly found, that Mr. Trump deliberately and forcibly penetrated Ms. Carroll's vagina with his fingers, causing immediate pain and long lasting emotional and psychological harm.

The new regent wants to expand the US in several ways

Yes, but he wanted to be faithful to his wives, he wanted to be a successful businessman and he wanted to run a university that gave a quality education, and look how well all those worked out.

The regents jester, the worlds richest man, has also been **** posting about European leaders including lies about supporting rapists.

Ironic, given that the moron-in-chief is an adjudicated rapist.
Even more ironic given that the jester has been banging on about illegal immigrants despite himself being an illegal immigrant.

I would never have another Mazda. That was another of my disastrous buys :(

What put you off Mazda? I've had three and they've all been great (apart from the rust in certain places that MX5s are famed for). Will soon be looking for another one (there's nothing wrong with the one I have now but it soon won't meet the requirements for the local "clean air" zone). My mother had a couple of Mazdas too, one of which is still running around (now driven by one of the in-laws) at the age of 26.

Sadly, yes.

It's a real pity about the engine in that generation of Minis. I'd quite like one of the five-door Clubmans (the one with one door on one side, two doors on the other and two doors at the end) but they come with either that sh!t engine or a diesel that doesn't meet the requirements for the local "clean air" zone.
