Off-Topic / Stock Market Talk and Trading - part 2 [732]

I will be OK in retirement provided I stop smoking.

Barney, I can help with that: I'll throw two packs of nicotine gum into the pot of our possible bet about Jim refusing to donate $5 to the PF survival fund. It's a way for everybody to win! PF needs the survival fund, I have to make the 2024 transfer anyway, you get a few pints, everybody gets to see Jimmy being wrong about investments yet again. What do you say?

I'm just a normal boomer not loaded but far from skint and I will be OK in retirement

You *might* be one virtual pint further away from skint if you accepted my sporting wager. In fact, I'm so confident that Jimmy Poorhouse won't donate $5 to the PF survival fund in exchange for me posting a copy of the transfer order showing me sending my 2024 IKZE contribution that I'll give you odds of three to one.

provided I stop smoking.

Well, smoking is fairly well proven to lessen the amount of money needed to cover one's total living expenses as a pensioner.

I dont know what those are. My mate keeps telling me to buy my max amount of ISAs but I'm happy as I am.

Both IZKE and IKE are Polish schemes similar to ISAs in that they're a tax efficient ways of saving. IKZE contributions are fully tax-deductible (so the tax man gives you back 32% of what you put in each year) and the capital gains tax is only 10% if you hold the IZKE to maturity. IKE offers a capital gains tax rate of zero percent. Both are limited in terms of the amount one can put in.

Actually, it's lucky we're talking about this now, it's reminded me that I need to send my 2024 IKZE contribution. I know you don't gamble, but how about a sporting wager? I bet you a virtual pint that if I say I'll post a copy of the transfer order from me sending my 2024 IKZE contribution if Jimmy Poorhouse donates $5 to the PF survival fund, he won't take up the offer. Not because he doesn't want to get all the information about me that he can, but simply because he doesn't have $5 to help save the thing he loves the most.

Well, actually it's the only thing he loves at all.

I have also been paying into a separate pension for decades.

Got anything in any of the IKEs or IKZEs?

The bargain of the century when you consider the return.

It is absolutely superb! Live to 80 and you get back PLN 751,036 for the PLN 31,325 you paid in. That's the kind of return even Jimmy Poorhouse wouldn't boast about. Partly because he's too financially illiterate to know what PLN is and partly because he'd be sure people wouldn't believe him. But it's true: pay in £179 / PLN 895zl per year for 35 years and get back £221.20 / 1,111zl per week for life from your 67th birthday onwards.

Imagine how jealous Jimmy Poorhouse must be of that return, he could fix his roof, buy a car from this millennium and still have enough money left over to actually buy some shares (or at least give Marge some money to feed into the slots at the Odawa reservation casino, which would give a far better rate of return).

I dont own any stocks or shares or any other such thing, like "landlordism" I think its immoral.

Barney, mind if I ask how you're saving for retirement? I'd be interested in getting your views on ethical investment for that.

Also, I think you may have worked for at least three years in the UK, so are you making UK voluntary class 2 NI contributions? If not, you really should be!

I'm all for mass share ownership

The problem is that shareholders get to direct companies. And what kind of company wants morons such as Jimmy Poorhouse to have any say in how they're run? That's just a recipe for bankruptcy! Imagine giving somebody who is so utterly clueless that he can't convert from CHF to USD even when given the exchange rate (and even after having to be told what CHF is) the right to have a say in complex financial decisions! He's so financially illiterate that he's repeatedly boasted about getting returns lower than those offered by the market!

And of course he's so ignorant that he doesn't know that there are websites in Poland which give estimated values for apartments in Warsaw, so anybody who has the address of a flat can easily check whether a statement that the value of it is a seven-figure number is accurate or not. Just as people can look up the assessed value of Jimmy Poorhouse's shack in the woods and see it going down due to lack of maintenance.

I dont believe you have any money invested anywhere.

Of course Jimmy Poorhouse doesn't actually have any money invested anywhere (one look at his shack tells you that). But that doesn't lessen the amusement we get from him trying to boast about his investments returning lower gains than those offered by the market. What a f*cking retard! Hoot!

I don't recall ever mentioning the S&P 500 until yesterday

Of course Jimmy Poorhouse is lying about that. But he wants everybody to forget that last month he described an S&P 500 tracker fund which he claims to have $50,000 invested in as a "tech fund" and then tried to backpedal by claiming
The S&P 500 includes a range of stocks often from the tech sector.

But if you have any doubt about what an epic moron Jimmy Poorhouse is, just look at today's attempt to boast:
Both VOO & VUG beat the S&P 500 in the last five-day average.

Could he be any more financially illiterate? He's trying to boast about one of 'his' tracker funds (VUG) beating what it doesn't track and under-performing what it does track! VUG is a CRSP US Large Cap Growth Index tracker. VUG gained over the last five days 2.75%: CRSP US LCGI was up by more than 3%, which more than offsets the 0.14% that VOO outperformed the S&P500 by.

LOL, only Jimmy Poorhouse could possibly try to boast about getting returns below what the market offers! What a f*cking retard! Of course, the growth mentioned above doesn't take into account the fees that one has to pay to hold units in VOO and VUG. But Jimmy Poorhouse can't be expected to know about those, they only apply to actual investments, not the fantasy kind Jimmy Poorhouse makes do with.

What was the tracker thing doing?

Index trackers are how to not lose more money on the stock market than the wider market loses. Instead trying to pick stocks that will beat the market average, these funds aim "to closely track the index's return".
Until a month ago Jimmy Poorhouse had never heard of them, which is why he would post here trying to boast about his ability to produce returns that are an average of less than half what one can make by simply tracking the market indices. Now he claims to have "most" of his money invested in "ETF's" (he is, of course, too dumb to know the name is actually ETFs).

Jimmy Poorhouse is so financially illiterate that he doesn't even know the difference between a market index and an exchange-traded fund, as he makes clear in this post:
market indices are called ETF's

The reality is that a market index tracks how a certain group of shares (or bonds or other investments) performs. Some tracker funds track market indices and exchange-traded funds are a type of tracker fund, so some of those also track market indices. Unfortunately for Jimmy Poorhouse, he was too angry at being exposed yet again as a liar who knows nothing about finance that he didn't bother googling properly before claiming that "I have the most of my money invested ETF's" which have "made me a ton of money", so he didn't know the difference between a market index and a tracker fund and an ETF. In fact he still doesn't, as his reply to your post shows.

the thing about gamblers is that they are blindly optimistic.

One of the few things that Jimmy Poorhouse can't be accused of being is a gambler. One needs money to gamble and Jimmy Poorhouse doesn't even have enough money for a can of paint to stop the wood siding on his shack from rotting away. Have you seen the state of it?!

How many times do I have to tell you, I'm a DAY TRADER

Got to love Jimmy Poorhouse being unable to remember the lies he's told! It's even better than him going from never having heard of tracker funds (and still not knowing what they are) to having most of his fantasy money in them as soon as it's pointed out what a moron he is for boasting about getting returns a third of what the market offers just by tracking the index!

Reminder for those who really do invest actual money (rather than the fantasy kind Jimmy Poorhouse has): this year the maximum for IKZE investments is PLN 9,388.80. Put that in and you get PLN 3,004.41 back from the taxman.

Also, thos year it's up to PLN 23,472 in your IZE. Nothing back from the taxman for that, but hold it until you're 60 and you can collect your winnings without the 19% Belka tax you pay on other capital gains. I reckon it's worth chucking the maximum in.

Harley Davidson - HOG
I'll pass

Harley Davidson shareholders everywhere are thanking their lucky stars after getting the reverse kiss of death from Jimmy Poorhouse: after winning the coveted "pass" rating from The Mystic One, yesterday the share price rocketed by 6.4% in a single day! He truly is a money making machine, as well as the kind of moron who can't tell the difference between a general stock index tracker and a "tech fund"! LOL!

The curse of Jimmy Poorhouse giveth, and the curse of Jimmy Poorhouse taketh away. After the serial rapist rated Diageo as a pass and it promptly shot up, today after he denied saying not to buy it, the share price went down by 1.4%. Need to keep a careful eye on The Mystic One's recommendations if you're going to take advantage of the free money machine!

LOL! Poorhouse Jimmy really is regretting his foolish claim to have a six-figure sum invested in funds he doesn't know the first thing about! Now he's resorting to simply lying about what he said. Just look at this post polishforums.com/off-topic/stock-market-talk-85560/32/#msg1991620 Poorhouse Jimmy clearly says:
VOO and VUG are both tech ETF's

But now he's learned that both are actually index tracker funds which invest in "Domestic Stock - General" and he's got nothing left but to lie about his foolish statement. What a f*cking retard! Hoot!

Well, I say "learned", but the reality is that Poorhouse Jimmy has been schooled. Was a trap deliberately set for him to fall into? Yep. But only Poorhouse Jimmy could make the results of that trap into abject humiliation for himself by continuing to double down when he gets exposed as a pathetic liar. And I mean pathetic liar both in the sense that he's pathetic and a liar and the sense that he's pathetically bad at lying. Hoot!

Diageo - DEO
I'll pass

Of course, Poorhouse Jimmy is so financially illiterate that he's never heard of dual-listing. The reality is that Diageo has its primary listing on the LSE (for those as financially illiterate as Poorhouse Jimmy, that's the London Stock Exchange). In fact that's the only market Diageo ordinary shares are listed on, under DGE.

And, of course, after getting the much coveted "pass" rating from Poorhouse Jimmy, Diageo ordinary shares are up, by 4.3%. i.e. more than quadruple what the FTSE 100 has done over that time.

But one has to remember that Poorhouse Jimmy sees the words

Invests in stocks in the S&P 500 Index, representing 500 of the largest U.S. companies.

and then claims
VOO and VUG are both tech ETF's

What a f*cking retard!

Diageo - DEO
I'll pass

After Jimmy Poorhouse rated it as "pass", Diageo ended the day up 3.6%!

Harley Davidson - HOG
I'll pass

Another lucky winner of the coveted reverse kiss of death from Jimmy Poorhouse, Harley Davidson ended the day up 1.1%.

How to explain such financial illiteracy? Well, it could be due to actual illiteracy. For example, VOO very specifically invests in "Domestic Stock - General" but Jimmy Poorhouse reads those words as saying "tech fund". LOL! What a f*cking retard! No wonder the roof of his shack still leaks!

Poorhouse Jimmy said to pass on Diageo, so of course it's up 3% today!

Harley Davidson - HOG I'll pass

It was 34.30 when The Mystic One said to pass on it, so of course it's 35.30 now.

And the most amusing part, he thinks he can get away with claiming he never said to pass on those stocks! What a f*cking retard!

I wonder how those "tech funds" he has "most of" his money in are doing. Last time I checked they were stick domestic stock index trackers! LOL! Hoot!

And the three he.says he likes? Two of them promptly go down. Awesome talent!

Poorhouse Jimmy's hot streak not only continues but even gets better: of the three stocks he said he likes, only two of which went down yesterday, all three are down today. And the two he said to pass on? They're both up again today. So, those of you closely following The Mystic One's tips and acting accordingly (i.e. buy what he says not to and short what he says to buy) are five from five today.

Diageo - DEO The one-month return of Diageo was 5.35%

Of course DEO is up 3.3% since Poorhouse Jimmy tipped them as stock to pass on.

No wonder this f*cking moron thinks that S&P 500 tracker funds are "tech funds"! LOL! Hoot!

UK, Ireland / UK passport renewal impossible due to out of date Polish passport [5]

UK passport office says they cannot issue new UK passport until Polish passport updated to maiden name.

Write to HMPO to explain that you are not able to provide them with an updated Polish passport and tell them why. Or even just call them. That's what I did when they told me they'd need to see a passport that expired decades ago. They have rules but are quite good at giving exemptions when those are justified.

Polonia / Polish bus crash in Croatia. Is there a fate? [229]

That is fabricated propaganda against Serbs. Many are happy to lie for the Rome.

Nope, it's a well-established fact that Serbs committed genocide in Bosnia and that it was approved at the very highest levels of the Serbian government. You can lie about it as much as you want, that won't change the facts, or the knowledge of the world.

But we shall win

LOL! You 'army' is only good at murdering civilians. When faced with a properly equipped trained army in Kosovo, your heroic soldiers nearly set a land-speed record when they ran away.

To be fair, the vast majority of the population of London are immigrants. Very few people there are from the Celtic tribes that lived in the area when the city was founded. And of course London was founded by immigrants, Romans.

Yeah, yeah, yeah....... we believe you......... LOL!!!!!

Poorhouse Jimmy is possibly at his funniest when he f*cks up, he knows he's f*cked up but he's too f*cking moronic to admit he's f*cked up and instead tries to lie his way out. But instead he he f*cks up again and digs himself even further into his hole.

For example, he tries to boast that a stock he 'tipped' had gone up but then it's pointed out that the market in general had gone up by more than 350% of his huge win of 0.9% growth in a week, so he'd have a gain three times bigger if he'd just tracked the market indices. So then we suddenly get

But the problem is that Jimmy hasn't bothered to even vaguely Google what he claims "most of" his money is invested in. So we get this classic from the Poorhouse:
VOO and VUG are both tech ETF's

LOL!!! VOO is actually called "Vanguard S&P 500 ETF" (see investor.vanguard.com/investment-products/etfs/profile/voo ). But Poorhouse Jimmy hasn't even bothered to read the name of what he claims to have $50,000 invested in! What a f*cking retard.

ORLEN

That is an interesting stock. On the one hand, now the top management are picked based on ability rather than political loyalty, the firm should do better. On the other hand, who knows what further terrible deals signed by the previous management are yet to surface? My guess is that people smarter than me and better educated than me and far far better informed than me have already priced the vast majority of that into the stock value. So for me the better option is to just track the market.

Of course it would also help if to not be so financially illiterate as to claim that an S&P 500 tracker fund is a "tech" fund and that a CRSP US Large Cap Growth Index tracker fund is a "tech" fund. But fortunately for me, I haven't made those hilarious claims: it's Poorhouse Jimmy who claims an S&P 500 tracker fund is a "tech" fund. And it's Poorhouse Jimmy who doesn't even know what CHF stands for.

His wreck of a white pick-up can still be seen of Google Maps. And as recently as 2021 he was driving a 1998 Ford Taurus. You can see it in the photo he wanted scrubbed from the internet.
