Language / What is your biggest problem with Polish language? [158]

Perhaps that's why, Rich!

There are many painters who are great at painting without knowing the chemical composition of paints. That is why I find dissecting languages - as opposed to using - extremely boring, if not annoying.

Just look at Post 9. If I didn't know better, I would bet it's a comedy routine.
How do kids learn to be fluent by the time they are eight? By reading this kind of crap?

But you are clueless how these heaters are designed and engineered which makes your MSEE worthless.

Do you know how to recognize an ignorant person in thirty seconds or less? Read your own posts.
Unfortunately for science and me, this forum has only teachers of languages and poets - neither activity depending on physics, math, and logic - so I am not able to send you to them for a quick course on what happens to the energy once it's drawn from the wall socket.

So, here is the shortest course for the ignorant: ALL ENERGY DRAWN FROM THE WALL SOCKET TURNS INTO HEAT - 100%, ALL THE TIME.

Some of it escapes the house through the walls, ceiling and the windows as radiation and convection. A completely insulated, lossless room would burst into flames as the process of drawing energy from wall - with none able to escape - would cause the temperature to rise to infinity.

In that sense, EVERY single device you plug into the wall socket is a 100% energy efficient. No exceptions. If you know of a device that can take in X and put out Y, Y being less than X, name it. After that, please, explain what happens to the difference X-Y. Like where does it go.

Can you confirm that (1) you read the above and (2) that you at least understand the words, if not the concepts.

Is there anyone here with an engineering degree? Are you all in liberal arts?

Infrared are much more economical to run than the old wire

No. Every kwh you draw from the wall turns into heat eventually. If light is a byproduct, when that light hits a wall or furniture, it turns into heat.

The IR radiation has the advantage in that it can be directed. Hence, it is useful when the IR heater is used in production of part that have been painted, for example. Because it can be directed like light, the IR energy is not wasted to heat up the surrounding objects and space. Duh!

Is there ANYTHING that you are not an authority on ! ?

Many, but I know a thing or two about science and electrical engineering. Would you like me to post my MSEE diploma again or are you going to claim it's a fake like the other a-holes here did in the past?

Couldn't refuse yourself to get personal again?

also you have to have a suitable location for the panels

...and a private sun that shines even on the cloudy days.

Infrared heaters are useful when the presence of infrared radiation is critical. As home heaters, they are not any more efficient that the ordinary heated wire types.

In all cases, infrared or not, all of the energy drawn from the wall socket is turned into heat with 100% efficiency. If light is a by-product, it has to leave through the windows to be lost to the homeowner. Otherwise, it always turns into heat.

Polish language is illogical and obscures the reality

I read your posts about global warming and realized how smart you are. Now, with that single sentence, you got yourself promoted to brilliant.
That's right. Illogical and obscures reality - just as does speaking in riddles, overusing allegories with colorful adjectives, and hiding nouns. The concept of plausible deniability comes to mind as a tool to stay out of trouble.

Direct, simple sentences are rare. Clear and unambiguous answers ever rarer. Those must extracted - like teeth.

That chart is not fair to China and a distortion about the US. When a country like the US exports its manufacturing jobs, it sends its pollution along with them. Until recently, we were even sending our garbage to China for recycling - which adds to the emissions.

So far I have these numbers to start with:

Ocean surface: 360 million square km
Ice volume: 5.7 million cubic miles

And this claim: If all the ice covering Antarctica, Greenland, and in mountain glaciers around the world were to melt, sea level would rise about 70 meters (230 feet).

Back to the stick on the wall...Does anyone have that kind of data which even a third-grader who never heard about NASA can collect and report?

OK, I will do the calculations and will be back with the result. That task is a grade school "math" once we know the volume of ice and the ocean surface area. And we do.

on a nasa website Bratwurst linked

BTW, where is that ocean level vs time graph? I can't find it.

the volume of the oceans on earth is around 1,4 billion cubic kilometers -

A better approach is to assume that all ice has melted and distributed evenly over the oceans. How much would the level go up then? We know all the numbers so it should be easy. I would be shocked if it's more than 6 inches.

If that ice melts it will not raise sea levels!!

Then why are we talking about whole cities drowning?

Can somebody post a sea level vs time graph, please? Like in NY or LA.
NASA has a lot of stories with "will" in them. I want to see data with "did" for the last, say, 50 years or since the first lie - sorry, I meant prediction - from Gore.

Oh **** off!

The quoted response shows conclusively why the global warmers like you avoid all public debates where people like me would have you on the ropes in 30 seconds or less. You want to try it here?

Actually, I take it back. You already blew it.

You really think "global warmers" is something like a party?

No. Global warmers are the liars who got caught lying about global warming, so they switched to "climate change".
If global warming were (1) real, (2) caused mainly by humans, and (3) reversible at an affordable cost, the global warmers would NEVER, ever switch to "climate change" - the position that is a lot more convenient to occupy, as it is always true, cannot be challenged, and needs no defending or eating sh*it for in the future.

Bullet and future proof. Good tactical move. From that point on, the only question for the liars was how many dupes the CC movement will sign up.

To their relief, the move from GW to CC stifled all opposition. No more deniers. Even me. Brilliant.

the sea levels rose less than 10cm in the last 30 year

Where is the data in support of the sea level going up?

I am not a climate change denier

Nobody is. Not a single person denies that climate is changing.

What I would like to deny is access to the American taxpayers' checkbooks by the world's free-riding deadbeats annoyed by the fact that Trump gave them his middle finger instead of the trillions they were licking their chops for.

Memo to the global warmers: Go see China.

how much did the oceans swell - 15cm?

When I called the Port of Miami about a year ago with the same question, they told me that the ocean level didn't change in the last 30 years. I did the same in November except this time I called the county where Key West is located. Some woman told me that the level did go up. OK, can you send me the link? Sure.

It never came.

News / Polexit? Almost half of the Poles believe that Poland would be better off outside of the EU [548]

Every democratic gov demands them...and all people are nagging about it!

No! People are pis*ed off when they see the taxes they paid to fund useful projects - like clean water and dirty sewers - squandered on (1) stupid wars, (2) crony deals, (3) obscene pensions,... You get the drift.

In fact, in many school districts here, people vote directly for more taxes if they are convinced their kids will benefit. But even in those cases, the new money typically does not end up in the classrooms but in the gold-plated teacher retirement funds.

Genealogy / Does "Ryszard" work as a surname in Poland? [37]

I guess you're referring to those fetching diminutives, right?

Yes.

What's wrong with gradations of intimacy?

The source. Always old women aka babcias. If you let them, they will smother and mother you to death, even after you tell them to cut that sh*it out.

As if that was not bad enough in private, these witches do it in front of your friends when you really are at your most sensitive trying to impress your buddies how manly you are. It can scar a boy for life. No, it's not about me, so stupid comments here.

You're comparing apples and oranges

I am comparing what I personally experienced in Poland with the bs I read here. And what I read here has nothing to do with what men named Ryszard were called. Once you switch from the normal Polish to what the old grandmas use to get cute, you are in a mental institution where every noun can be perverted a dozen ways to express feeeeelings instead of real reality. Like noga, nozka, nozenka, nozuchna. I am not sure about the spelling but I am excused because I am not insane like the old Polish women. That is why when I had my kids, kiddie talk was not allowed. Luckily, my MiL didn't speak English and was too far away to do any serious damage to them.

English spelling is a lousy way to justify the insanities of Polish. Just read this thread and count how many ways there are to say, Rich. Like in, hey, Rich, you wanna lunch?

Did I miss anything by leaving behind all 127 forms in Polish and settling for just 2? Hell, no.

In fact, the ability to mutilate a guy's name 127 ways is only helpful to his enemies. His friends would use the one he likes. In this case, Rich.

Law / Poland's Muzzle Law [22]

It could be in reverse. I lived under communism and we were all politics, anti-communist, maybe careless and stupid, but not afraid.
Today, in a free and affluent Poland, people have no targets and no mission. To the well-off people, freedom of speech is like to me freedom to learn Chinese. No, thanks, I don't need it to go through another day. That is why every regime wants its subjects to be affluent just enough to keep them content and quiet.

Polish - an insane language for masochists...

I switched to Richard when I was naturalized. From that day forward, the only form I and everybody else used was Rich.
That's it. Just one word for all occasions and the earth is still spinning in the same direction.

Like I said, Polish is insane.

Now I know that you and others are not Polish. Never once did I hear my name with "u" at the end of it except from my parents as Rysiu.
