UK, Ireland / Poles in the UK, you know were the door is [102]

The economy is not the problem, it is you Poles, don't you get it, it's your attitude you bring here

Soon the economy will take care of the immigration problem, in fact it's already started. Then the UK will be back to only having migrants from poor third world Asian and African countries.

Don't worry, you guys are doing a great job of ruining your currency. The UK isn't really that attractive anymore, and with the pound sinking like a chunk of lead, you won't have to worry about Polish immigration for too much longer.

PS, hope you put some money into precious metals.

Law / The right to own guns: would you support such legislation in Poland? [2237]

Switzerland is not a good example. You can't privately own an automatic weapon.

The Czech Republic is incredibly laid back when it comes to gun ownership. A large percentage of the population has private firearms, and everyone has the right to carry.

News / SHOULD POLAND HAVE NUKES?? [154]

Neat, I was 3 weeks off of being born in Frankfurt in '82. My father was FA, stationed there twice with Lance and twice with MLRS. Lots of interesting stories indeed...

It went a little further, to the point they actually tested nukes with chickens inside.

In the late 70s early 80s they had lance missiles with tactical nuclear warheads guarding the gap 24/7.

Pretty big bargaining chips in the wrong hands.

That's true, the idea was to (tactical) nuke the Fulda gap should any armor move across the border.

no, of course Poland doesn't need nukes.

You mind quoting the British-Polish alliance text, or more importantly, the French-Polish alliance text?

Now Russia is going to help Venezuela nuke up.
Just what we need, another nutjob with a bomb...

Like Pakistan? I think I'd rather Venezuela have the bomb than anyone in Pakistan...

Good stuff, Kondzior. Sounds like what we're dealing with over here now. All this government "help" is killing us...

The reforms are a move towards more free market health care.

Which country really needs nukes? Arguments can go round in circles but that's the key question.

The ones that don't want to worry about being invaded.

How are they getting screwed over? They're not increasing spending even further for unaffordable welfare payments? It's not like anything has been taken away...

News / Poles are getting rich... [63]

Average wages have increased 50% over the last 10 years.

Unfortunately the government only keeps info on average salaries, not median salaries. 10 years ago the zloty/euro exchange rate was exactly the same as it is today.

Swiss...it pays to stay out of wars.

And not completely sink your currency...

considering the increase in property values, it's not surprising. Median income however has most definitely not risen threefold over the past 10 years.

They don't even want nuclear power

Energy independence discussions are kicking in again...

Not against a force that is largely based at sea and in the air.

America wanted to marginalize Russia politically, and the Russians wanted to show that they wouldn't be marginalized. No threat to MAD.

Even if you placed 5000 interceptors in Poland, it would have no impact.

News / SHOULD POLAND HAVE NUKES?? [154]

Initially it would be that, then maybe actual war heads.. It's not beyond the realm of comprehension for some dumb US neo con to want this in Poland.

That doesn't make much sense. To turn a defensive site into an offensive site...especially in such a vulnerable location.

Considering the makeup of both Russian and American offensive and defensive capabilities, it's easy to see that this was purely political and neither threatening or a credible deterrent.

They fear a pre-emptive strike by the US.

By a handful of interceptor missiles?

I'm not so sure.

The Iranians are only worried about their part of the world. Nukes would have come in handy when Iraq was gassing them in mass with American and European chemical weapons.

The genie left the bottle a long time ago. The number of nuclear powers will only grow from here on out.

Love / 20% of adult Poles are single and live with Mummy! [241]

I have also not heard so far that the 6th Commandment has been repealed.

Don't Catholics use idols and images of god all the time? Sistine Chapel ceiling comes into mind. You can't be a cafeteria Catholic Polonius!

News / Polish IQ ahead of France, USA, Canada, Israel, Ireland... [47]

In terms of IQ Poland shares 16th place with Hungary and Spain and outranks, the US, Canada, Israel, Ireland and others.... Why then does Poland lag in terms of scientific breakthroughs, inventions, innovative products, cultural trends, fads, crazes, etc.?

Maybe because IQ tests do a **** poor job of assessing individual intelligence.

On a side note, it's interesting how no two "country IQ" lists are the same...

How many of you have taken an IQ test....and allowed the results to be used publicly? Guessing not many...all with a huge grain of salt...
