Off-Topic / Should people be free to cut their hair and dye it as they want? [16]

I have noticed that a lot of far right posters, exclusively male, seem to have a problem with people in general and women in particular dying their hair.

Is this another example of the freedom loving right dictating how people should live?

Last time I was in Poland I saw a lot of young people with piercings, tattoos and garishly dyed hair, less so the further from the city I went.

Should a bunch of middle aged men dictate how young people present themselves or should women be forced to replicate MTV from the 1980s?

I really don't want to explain genetics here but almost all fruit trees need cross pollinated from one or more similar species. You dont live in a barren environment as there is wild blossom available so I still maintain your practice though not harmful is unnecessary. Genetics is not country specific and nor is bee behaviour.

Surely Polar bears eat all the fruit left by the wolves and Bison

Not really a greenhorn I have been growing a wide variety of fruit and veg for decades and working with bees for about 20 years. Like the hippocratic oath the first lesson is do no harm. Placing additional blossom can help and there is nothing wrong in doing that but I suggest its unnecessary as pollinators will work their magic regardless thats why no one I know does it its unnecessary.

It makes me happy seeing people share their love for horticulture and the riddle/quiz twist you put on the thread makes it all the more interesting. I recall you said you would like to husband honey bees I would encourage you to do so. The native Polish bee is under pressure from commercial bee keepers with their hybridized stock and needs support, the same in Ireland.

Honesty is always the best policy...stop cyberstalking and grow a backbone.

I finally got round to reading the linked site its generally interesting but there are some errors in the description of bee behaviour especially their flight height and distance travelled.

The site reveals the answer to your question. I really think placing additional blossom is unnecessary despite what the linked site says. The average distance of travel for honey bees for example is 3 miles (4.5 Km) and they can and do fly well over 50 meters. the logic in the website seems sound but it is unnecessary as the pollinators (not just bees) will do the job for you. having said that it will do no harm.

You still haven't explained why you would cyber stalk someone and then post a veiled threat to them.

I would think the additional blossom was sourced from a place more than a few Km away otherwise there is no point. Its interesting to me as I said I don't know anyone who does this. Do your neighbours have similar trees or is there a market for them?

Perhaps you are placing more blossom to aid pollination but again something doesn't seem right. Most cultivated fruit trees are self pollinating even if they are diploid or even triploid. I've never known anyone to do that so it must be something else.

I was merely pointing out

Yet you started an argument with her leading to a strange threat...

Now please let it go Ms. Atch before this goes from bad to worse.

whatever that is supposed to mean...

When you cyberstalk people dont tell them because people quite rightly tend to take a dim view of such things

My guess would be that you are attempting to propagate the trees by layering however several things don't seen right. Fruit trees are usually grafted onto a suitable root stock and layering, even air layering, tends to use soil in the vessel to stimulate root growth. I have layered fig trees but never stone fruit. If I was doing that I would like to control the height with either dwarf or medium root stock but it looks like you have the space for full size trees.

News / How will Poland be affected by WW3 which has now started [559]

the Angola/Namibia thing

The Angola/Namibia thing as you call it was the democratically elected government of a recently freed colonial country being attacked by one of the most repellent regimes the world has ever seen. Apartheid South Africa funded and supported by a plethora of NATO countries and Israel had their asses handed to them by the Angolan government supported by their Allies from the Caribbean. All credit to Cuba who fought the might of the West and knocked the bollocks out of the racist scum.

Thats exactly where I live, I pass that spot several times a day. You couldn't have picked a worse example, Gerry Kelly lives opposite, its about 30 second walk from the Felons club. Some Smick sprayed that to wind people up, there is zero support for racist scum in this area. I know the people, the political representatives, the unions and all other aspects of the area.

at least one reputable newspaper is reported he never worked in Ireland

If he didnt work he could not have claimed benefits so was not supported by the state. If he was claiming benefits he must have worked for a minimum of seven years.

I agree to a certain extent that migration law needs overhauled, there is no quick and easy way to do that. All published work aims to influence public opinion.

There are better forms of economy.

There are, however until recently China was not a player and the CCCP was more interested in supporting liberation movements. It was the US with its invasions and coups that bears the lions share of the blame. Migration from the global South really took off with the rise of outsourcing from the west as the west shafted their people who it must be remembered voted for that crap. A ven diagram of migration and invasion will show an almost perfect overlap coinciding with the turbo charging of the flow of people.

I'm not against migration and have no problem with ethnicity or religion of people. What I do oppose is the hypocrisy of those installing governments who's economic policies created the problem and are now screaming blue murder

It turns out that he is mentally ill. This will satisfy all parties.

Its a weird kind of mental illness that makes him a homicidal maniac.

What was the Algerian Dublin stabber doing between 2003 (when he probably should have been deported) and 2023 when he went all stabby?

He was working. You can't claim and receive benifits if you have not contributed.

His nation of origin like his mental health status is irrelevant unless you are making some sort of crypto point.

Ireland as an Island could very easily restrict migration even after Ireland voted in a referendum to endorse freedom of movement within the EU. The problem is that US policy is to invade and destabilise the middle East, North Africa and Sub Saharan Africa and as Europe follows the US there is not much we can do about it. US immigration policy is much stricter than Europe's but Europe is militariarly weak and socially liberal and under the political domination of the US.

I don't have any problem with the level of migration into Ireland and don't see or feel any threat from these people.

UK, Ireland / Is it good for Poland as Sinn Fein will win today in Northen Ireland [282]

Is Christy Moore not mainstream Irish?

Its debateable if he was ever mainstream. He was a folk singer in Britain in the late 60s but after hearing the string arrangements of Sweeneys men he helped form Planxty who were huge. Since he left Planxty he has toured the Christy Moore "show" with Moving Hearts and later with accompanying musicians.

Today he is a nostalgia act if he is still playing live. I have loved him since the 70s and have seen him several times but rarely listen to his solo work now.

As "H" says he is a bit 'Oirish'.
