There are Americans living in Poland. Some even post on here and have no Polish heritage.
Polish immigration to America didn't stop in the 20th century either nor do Poles in the 21st century only go to other EU countries to study, work and settle.
Whatever upbringing you had that taught you about the world in your provincial corner of Poland simply doesn't reflect reality (past or present).
