Looking for Family from Poland - Gordzielewski & Nyckowska

Hi, as you can see from my middle (maiden) name, I am a Gelewski. I have always been told that Gelewski was shortened from Gordzielewski. One of my uncles shortened it to Geleski. My sister and I are coming to Poland in honor of my father who is no longer living. He always wanted to go and never did, so we are. I am using Translate.google.com to write this message. We thought it would be fun to try and track down some of our family.

My sister and I will be in Poland in mid May. We are planning to visit Krakow, Wroclaw and possible other places depending on who we might find.

From what I gather Gordzielewski is a common surname, so I don't know how difficult it might be to actually connect with any of our relatives. Also, if we were to try to connect on our grandmother's side, I don't know if Nyckowska is a common name as well. What I can do is provide some more info found on my grandfather's memorial on the web at Find A Grave:

"Stephen was born Stanislaw Gelewski on 23 Sept 1886 in a small village called Mosciska, near Plock, Poland. He died 22 May 1970 and was the husband of Stanislawa (Stella) Nyckowska. They married 6 Aug 1911 in New York, New York and had at least 12 children. His parents were Mateusz Gordzielewski and Franciszka Krysiak. All his adult siblings came to the United States, all kept the Gordzielewski surname except the children of his brother Jozef, who changed their name to Geleski."

Please reply if you think we might be related or have any other ideas as to how to find any of our family on either my grandfather or grandmother's sides.

A family of yours? Stanisław's brother?
I came across it googling your family+Mosciska. You may have seen it, too.
Gorzelewski is not a very common name. But it's hard to find a relative just on the basis of their last name. It's been over a century. It's probably more likely in the USA.

Good news is that if Władysław and Stanisław are related, it gives us more infirmation about Mosciska - it must be the place near Radziwie and Gostynin.

I don't know if Nyckowska is a common name as well.

Nyckowska is the female spelling of the name Nyckowski. Currently there are 141 people living in Poland with this surname of which 17 are located in Płock. Have a look at this link which shows the distribution:
