I am looking for Alexander Jeske b. Abt 1851, supposedly fought in Franco Prussian war , worked on his uncles farm after war then went to Russia prior to immigrating to the US in approximately 1880. We have no further information on him. We suspect Posen area but really are unsure. Any help would be appreciated.

Might the typically North German surname (round about the Hamburg area) "J - E - S - C - H - K - E" be in any way related? Believe to have run across the name "Jerske" in or near Berlin.

:-)
