soicc 1 Apr 2010 #1Looking for any information on the Pikul and/or Trzaskos Families. Families migrated to New York in the late 1800-early 1900's. My be from Lipinki or Galicia.
Polonius3 993 | 12,357 1 Apr 2010 #2PIKUL: possibly from pikul (small slanted window in a larder) or pikula (trifle) -- both from the Italian word for small piccolo.TRZASKOS: probably topo from Trzaski (root-word trzask suggests a loud noise: slam. bang, crash, etc.)
OP soicc 1 Apr 2010 #3Thanks. Any suggestions to find where the families came from? we started Ancestry.com and found some, but no real location for finding family members that might still be around in Poland.
Polonius3 993 | 12,357 2 Apr 2010 #4TRZASKOS: only 2 users, 1 each in SE Poland's Krosno and Nowy Sącz areas (Góral country).PIKUL: some 1900 users, the most in SE Poland's Tarnów and Lublin areas.
OP soicc 3 Apr 2010 #7What's the source of this? Is it public records? If so, from where? IS there any more detail? Thanks
