Good day! I am endeavoring to trace my mother's mother's side of the family. I only have the name Gusepa Mabersko to go on. Does anyone have any information that would help me find out more about her. I was told she was polish but nobody seems to know where she was born or any other info on her. I also know that when she reached America she changed her name from Gusepa to Josephine. Any information or guidance would be greatly appreciated and helpful. Thank you and have a good day!

Polish for Josephine is Józefa or Józefina. Your version is somewhat similar to the Italian Giuseppina. The Mabersko surname cannot be found in Poland.

find the official record relating to this, if there is one.

check: passenger lists/ ship's records. they may show country of origin.

check: naturalization records.

Keep in mind that you'll get very little help unless you provide dates.
