Where to DNA test myself if I'm related to Doliwa?

Hi everybody I hope you can help me. My name is igor dobrowolski and I've been told many times by my father that we are related to the Baron family named Doliwa. Problem is that all the documents and letters of nobility I mean everything was lost or destroyed and ceased by Russian troops when they moved in after the Germans left. My grand mother was even called "The last aristocrat of the family" so I'm thinking if there's any way of finding out by using DNA testing?

Thank you in advance.

Do one with, say, Ancestry.co.uk or one of the others (avoid 23andMe right now). It will bring up any relatives who've done the test as far as about 5th cousins. Beyond that, someone can't really be called a relative.

DNA tests aren't popular in Poland (and are illegal in France where there's a large diaspora community).though.

nobility

Do you mean nobility or szlachta?

According to the stories I've been told by my grand mother and father while still alive, is that we are supposed to be not so far from the original branch of Doliwa. Thank you for the tip.

I wouldn't put too much store by such tales. People often assume they are related to somebody because they share a surname, but it's not necessarily the case. However, the following might be of interest to you if you don't already know about it.
