Hello, everyone. I'm trying to order a DVD set from allergro.pl but I do not understand Polish at all. It's an item that's out of stock almost everywhere including Amazon. Anyway, this was an auction that ended over a year ago but there were no offers to buy. I was wondering if it is still possible for me to contact the seller and buy the product?

You can try. Use Google Translate to help you. If you don't understand something copy and paste it into Google Translate and if you want to write to them, compose your message in GT and just copy and paste into your email. Try not to use the word 'you' eg can you tell me, etc as the Polish language has two forms for that word, formal and informal. Google can't cope with the formal, it will give you the informal and it's very rude in Poland to address a stranger informally. So try to find a different way of saying what you want to say. For example, you could say 'Is the DVD set still available. If so I would like to buy it. Please send details of what to do.' And end your email with 'Pozdrawiam'. It's like 'regards'.

I see. Thanks for your help. I'm having trouble finding the seller's contact information. Would it be okay if I sent you a private message?

You need to register with Allegro and log in. Then on the product listing somewhere on the right hand side you should see 'Pytanie do sprzedającego' which is 'questions for the seller'. You can contact them there. You can message me if you like but what we're talking about here could be useful to somebody else in the future :)

I made an account and logged in. I do not see 'Pytanie do sprzedającego' anywhere, though.

I see "szukana oferta jest nieaktualna - może podobny przedmiot? zobacz więcej aktualnych ofert" at the top of the page. Could that have something to do with it?

"szukana oferta jest nieaktualna"

"the offer (you're) looking for is no longer valid"

"może podobny przedmiot?"

maybe (you want to look for) something similar?

"zobacz więcej aktualnych ofert"

see more current offers

Does this mean that I can no longer contact the seller? I cannot seem to find his contact information.

Does this mean that I can no longer contact the seller?

look for "od super sprzedawcy "

or just od (from) followed by a green highlighted seller name

Here's a link to the offer:
archiwum.allegro.pl/oferta/shaolin-wuzang-partie-1-2-nowe-w-folii-i7819275371.html

I don't see "od super sprzedawcy" anywhere.

I clicked

"aktualne przedmioty sprzedającego "

current items (from this) seller

and it took me here with the message

"Ten użytkownik nic teraz nie sprzedaje."

This user no longer has anything for sale.

So... sorry but it looks like 'game over'....

@Homiker
You've got to be careful with Allegro because it's a mixture of private and trade sellers. Avoid the private ones, only deal with trade and look for the ones with a long history of sales / good reputation. Some of them have a cash on delivery option for payment which is ideal. You can still get burned though. Somebody I know recently bought a laptop from a well established trade seller, which was supposedly new and turned out to be reconditioned. It arrived in a Lenovo box which had all the information on it in English which is the only way he knew it was not new. It was a factory recall which had had a faulty hard drive replaced. Anybody who didn't speak English would never have realised. So, Allegro can be dodgy. Sorry you didn't get your DVDs :(
