If America didn't drop out of the first gulf war, then we wouldn't have this problem now would we?

criticize Americans

Hee hee..this is not really relavant to the lovely Juty,s post , but never mind.....I actually have lots of American friends , but not the kind of people who consider themselves superior to anyone else , and who are aware that the only true Americans are the red skinned guys with feathers in their hair...All the others are decended from the riff raff that had to get out of other countries.....

And I thought it was bad enough when Bratwurst Boy called us a "nation of mongrels"!
Some how I think we (Ammies) have gone down another notch! :)

Baked Beans anyone

Our....erm ....Independence Day is next week, so the stores here have aisles stocked high with baked beans and everything else for picnics...red white and blue paper plates, tablecloths, etc. Another holiday for me alone..... :( ( I just returned from shipping my youngster off to Grandma's for the summer.) I guess its my turn to be independent! :)

Absolutely.....the more the merrier! :)

I love throwing parties....except I always end up in the kitchen or tending to everyone's drink instead of actually sitting and enjoying it myself. But the little bit of martha stewart living inside me seems to enjoy pulling it off! :)

cool! now i just gotta get a visa which will take about 6 months... so i cant come :( lol. i don't really like throwing parties because i don't like looking at other people making a huge mess in my house and getting drunk and disorderly. last time they broke my cooker!

always end up in the kitchen

That's the best place to be in at a party! Booze, food good conversation... Everybody cycles through at one time or another....

Hmmmmm...that is where the best conversations take place, isn't it? :)
Or outside on the patio when the "smokies" head out for a puff!

Yeah JustystiaS, I know what you mean about the mess. You have to party-proof your place first (clear surfaces, make lots of room, scotchgard the carpet) but you can reduce the damage by planning ahead. You want your guests to do as little as possible....so give them what they need before they try to help themselves! :)

(And oxiclean in the steam vac is great at removing red wine stains!).

Once a tipsy guest somehow fell onto my answering machine and recorded 30 minutes of the party...it was interesting listening later on! :)

were they b*tching about your house? lol

my ex once invited his mates over and we all got really drunk. i went to bed and told him to tell them to go home (kick them out!), but he stayed up with them instead and in the morning the house looked like as if a tornado had gone through it. they coudnt even be bothered to smoke outside and it stank! i havent had a house party since, and that was over 2 yrs ago haha...

Well the good news is....as you get older and your friends become more mature (hopefully) you can have parties with less damage! :) Some of them will even help you pick up the dishes after! :)

you saying they wont try and trip me over as i pick them up from the floor? haha. and they will leave some food in my fridge so i can have breakfast when i get up in the morning? WOW i can't wait till i'm 30 or 40 lol

Just one more thing...when your guests get over the 40-50 yr mark, some of them may fall asleep after that second glass of wine (or whatever) and will need to be home by 9 or 10, so start the party earlier! (And you can forget New Year's eve entirely) hehe

don't comment then if you feel like it's none of your business, i didnt specifically asked for YOUR opinion.

You didn't specifically exclude anybody from the request for comments so don't act like a kid who was denied a lolly pop. I hope this is a good lesson for you. If you open post something in front of the whole world then anybody may comment. The only person to blame, if there is anybody to blame, is YOU.

Next time think BEFORE you click the "post message" button.

(It was a retort, ya dumbazz! You aren't supposed to reply with an editorial! Run along now and be superior somewhere else.)

Yes! Independence Day (from you Brits - hehehe) is just a wonderful day off for all Americans...cooking on the grill and having a great party with friends and family, going out of town, or just bum around.

I can't wait until the 4th of July to go to a wonderful party and admire fireworks from my friends backyard(complements of my tax money at work).

(good job shopgirl) :)
