Love / I got married to a Polish wife; Polish family advice needed [45]

Yeah, keep nationality out of it, I'm Scottish and happy to be so. I can assure u that England has far more BNP types than we do in Scotland. He is just winding people up, the forum is largely anonymous so it's not as if noimmigration is a prominent politician who has the power to do much. Ukpolska, treat people as people as I do, I have many friends from England and don't appreciate nationalism

Life / "I can spot a Pole a mile away" - Polish fashion? [146]

Noimmigration, u should go to Hyde Park or somewhere similar in Scotland, SHOW UR FACE and get known. Tell ur views to everyone, get the word out and I can assure u that ur career will be made almost impossible, esp as a lawyer. U study law and break it at the same time!!!

History / WW2: Britain Declares War on Germany to Save Poland [290]

I'm proud of what the British forces did but, objectively, I don't think the British air force was superior in firepower terms than the Luftwaffe. We just fought better strategically!!

Life / "I can spot a Pole a mile away" - Polish fashion? [146]

The Poles are big lads. I'm fractionally over 100kg's (big boned they say) and slightly above normal height but some of these guys here make me look average-sized. They know how to scrap too

UK, Ireland / British throwing food to trashes... [26]

In response to ukpolska's post above, I'm assuming u mean Colman's mustard. Overall, Poland has to be close to no 1 in the world for mustards, France ranks highly too. However, maybe they were jealous of the competition as Colman's is a cut above. I know that it's not illegal as a Polish friend of mine brought some back from England

Life / Do Poles Lead a Healthy Lifestyle? [15]

The Polish diet leaves a bit to be desired but more and more Poles are taking an active interest in exercising. Gyms are usually quite busy and football playing is on the up. The level of jogging could be higher though. The drinking levels are quite high which doesn't help the gut and complaining leads to cancer (said tongue in cheek, Scots complain too)

It has a different texture from French Dijon mustard. Poland's Kamis Franczuska mustard tastes the same as the French version but costs 1/7 of the price. For a tear-inducing taste experience, I recommend karashi. I brought some back from Japan for my dad. It's noticably spicier than Colman's, very similar to wasabi in strength. Wasabi is stronger than Polish horseradish (chrzan). Blow ur socks off stuff!!

Life / Do Poles Lead a Healthy Lifestyle? [15]

The Germans also say zum wohl (prost alos) and look at their intake of fleisch (meat). I was surprised at the availability of meat in Berlin when I was there. Italians are quite healthy. Kebab shops are everywhere here in Gliwice, I don't know how it is elsewhere. Poles usually say "na zdrowie" before necking shots of vodka, do dna. Not so healthy really when drunk quickly, one after the other. I know ur posting was tongue in cheek. The food in Zakopane is pretty unhealthy

Junk in the trunk, you've been watching the Rio Carnival too much. Isn't it better to have sth to hold onto?

UK, Ireland / We welcome Polish people to Britain! [224]

Exactly, letting foreigners into a country can help that country. Look at countries that don't let foreigners in that easily, China, Japan etc. They admitted foreigners in and their linguistic skills improved as a result

Food / Lovely Polish drinks! [13]

Poland also has some good flavoured beer at only 4.5% called Redds or Freeq. The beer I'm drinking now isn't classed as a strong one and it's 6% (Zubr). 4.5% is closer to what Brits are accustomed to. Zubrówka with apple juice is tasty too. Poles generally prefers clear vodkas unlike their Scandinavian counterparts who flavour it.

History / WW2: Britain Declares War on Germany to Save Poland [290]

Back to the thread, it's almost like the poster is trying to get the Poles to acknowledge that we did them a favour. British sees imperialist agendas clearly, we didn't enter to save Poland.

News / Poland adopting the Euro, but when? [65]

I like the idea of the EURO but Poland's currency is getting stronger so, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. It would certainly aid convenience but Poland shouldn't feel under pressure. Lord Only Knows Britain laboured the fudging of the convergence criteria for long enough.

Love / I got married to a Polish wife; Polish family advice needed [45]

I need more info to advise u. For example, what does the pre-nuptial agreement say? Was there an agreement between the sisters of any description, oral/written etc about the house? Best go to a Polish lawyer but I'd hold back in the meantime from paying anything.

U can bring Colman's in, it just depends how much u bring back with u. Where is this leaflet u speak of?

I'd just steer clear and let the family deal with their own self created mess. I sometimes drink and smoke but the point here is moderation. U don't have a moral obligation to help. They just need to learn money management skills, the hard way

Language / Useful and the most common words in Polish [50]

U can use either przydatny or uzyteczny, do u use Polish every day Michał? They are effectively synonyms. Other useful words, chodz tu, the Poles use it a lot and it means come here. Przeczysz is another favourite, it means sth like however

Language / Useful and the most common words in Polish [50]

As to LCzachor's last posting with regards to the A article, I have to disagree. U mustn't translate the A article into Polish as they don't use articles. I've taught the finer points of the indefinite articles and u can't translate them. For example, jestem nauczycielem, I am a teacher, where do any of ur listed words fit in? They don't. Polish works it out from the context

Raczej is also useful, it means rather.
