Love / Is it really possible for a Polish man to be just friends with a woman? [32]

Is it really possible for a Polish man to be just friends with a woman?

I guess the real question is: "Is it really possible for ANY man to be just friends with a woman?"

The answer is: for a straight man, absolutely NOT. We are all sexual beings. A man with a female "friend" is just keeping her on a back burner "just in case". That's the truth.

In case of a gay man (and I'm talking about a 100% flaming gay and not a bi-sexual man), women are best friends with. The reason: no sexual tension like with a straight man, but also there is no competitiveness and biatch-iness like there is amongst women

Food / How often do you have Polish Food? [49]

We have a nice Polish restaurant less then a mile from the house, so I would say we have Polish food at least once every other week or so. I can also get some Polish items at the local grocery store, like frozen pirogies or Polish kielbasa. Come to think about it I never cook it from scratch at home mainly because so many Polish dishes require such a long preparation time. For instance I can whip up a pasta marinara with grilled chicken in about 20 min, but I need a whole day to cook Polish stuffed cabbage.

I would say we like Polish Food, but for some reason we don't have it that often.

Food / How often do you have Polish Food? [49]

there is universal food which is the type I tend to eat, i.e potatoes and soups

You right, I could also count American Comfort Food as Polish Food. A lot of those dishes are the same. For instance if I'm having a roasted chicken, mashed potatos with gravy and broccoli - isn't it both Polish and American Comfort food?

Life / Why Poles don't use Facebook? [43]

Employers sometimes use facebook & myspace to find out personal info, regarding current & potential employees.

Here is what happen to a guy I knew from work: while his wife was pregnant, he took some of his female associates and subordinates from work to a nudie bar, to celebrate his own birthday. Can you believe this sh!t? And then in the drunken stupor he posted picks of the event on the Facebook, LOL!

Of course his bosses found out about it (from Facebook). He lost his job, got divorced by his wife, went bankrupt, and now he changes tires at a gas station for $30K/year, down from $69K he was making before.

All thanks to Facebook. And his own stupidity, of course.

Travel / How often do you visit Poland? [32]

I left the Old Country when I was a teen back in the 80's. Ended up in the US. Somehow I never made it back yet, even for a short visit. Today my wife and kids don't even speak Polish, so I think a trip to Poland is going to be unlikely... Maybe some day?

You got a wife and kids and from your Brew Day video a good life.

To be blunt, when you emigrate you're playing your last card and it looks like you won:)

Oh yeah, no doubt about it, Barney. The truth is I never went to visit Poland because I chose not to go. I just took my vacations in other places. Let's be honest here, Poland is not exactly #1 tourist destination place.

USA, Canada / Renewing Polish Passport in US [30]

I live in Miami, Florida, and I was told I need to show up IN PERSON to the Washington, DC consulate/embassy

Totally NOT worth it.

Mind you, I can renew my American Passport and my State ID (drivers licence) by mail or on the Internet, without stepping out of my house.

Not exactly. There are German Poles, Jewish Poles, Dutch Poles, Prussian Poles, Mongolian Poles. Also, the Free City Of Gdansk Poles.

PS. There are also: electric poles, stripper poles, pre-election polls, marketing polls... :D

PS2. Also, there are Lithuanian Poles and Roma Poles (neither of them are Slavic).

News / Poles protest US Stalin memorial plan [28]

US Stalin memorial plan

Wait till the Anti-Defamation League or World Jewish Congress find out about it. All the Virginia politicians, both republicans and Democrats can say "goodbye" to their jobs.

BTW, this news is so outrages that I seriously doubt its authenticity. Maybe that website got it from The Onion?
