Real Estate / Interesting Article on Polish Real Estate [33]

Dustmen who have declared £60,000 salaries because the mortgage broker told them that it was the only way they would get on the property ladder and because in the next breathe who told them that the price of property always goes up. that coupled with Property Porn with Sarah Beeney or some other soppy tart telling the viewers that any monkey can become a property millionaire you just need to borrow a shed load of money, install a new kitchen and paint the walls magnolia then you are laughing.

This I think the chances of a Subprime morgage crisis in the UK is a very real possibility.

I know in London lots of seriously unscrupulous morgage brokers who have helped many of my friends on to the property ladder but I fear this will blow up in their mugs.

Life / Local Poles taking advantage of foreigners living in Poland [235]

Weird, i fly about 1 a month back and forth and seriously haven't heard clapping in years. Perhaps Easyjet flights aren't ful or clappers, whilst Wizz Air and Ryan Air are? Odd but seriously haven't heard clapping in a long time.

Life / Styles in Poland: What do people wear? [65]

Styles in Poland. What do people wear?

Ok which age group, firstly?
Secondly which economic class.

The lables that are popular in Poland.
Tommy Hilfinger.
Hugo Boss.
Replay.
Benetton
FCUK.
Morgan.
These are the lables the people with cash tend to wear.
Unfortunately there is loads of fake clothing and accessories in Poland, these goods always make people look cheap.

Amongst the youth the hip hop crowd like Sean Jean, nike etc.
Then the metal goth crowd just love their black.
People wear in general the same style of clothes as in the US and Europe period. No pointy hats etc.

Did they applaud when the plane touched down?

I've landed in an assortment of countries and very seldomly do I hear clapping on polish flights. in my experience clapping on planes occurs in less developed countries. Especially those for whom disasters are a regular feature in their country.

And although we might poo poo clapping, if you are a native of a disaster prone nation then really clapping is not such a silly thing to do.

some bit#h tried to take advantage of me yesterday...

Ha. yup had a similar experience with a shop keeper who claimed i gave her 10zl not 50zl and administered the change for a packet of cigs accordingly.

i preceeded in my rudimentary polish to go of my head. This worked very well and she promptly gave me the correct change.
When people try this on I advise becoming extremely angry and hopping from one foot to another screaming obsenities.

Life / Moving to Poland from Dubai, living on 22,000 PLN a month [13]

22,000 pzl

Good. Minimum wage is around 900zl a month. Average workers anywhere between 1500 to 3500zl pm. HOWEVER WARSAW IS NOT DUBAI. The change will be a shock. Firstly weather, is not something money can affect. However on the plus you'll be in a prime position to visit other European cities on cheap flights.

22,000zl will be very nice thank you very much. Sod renting a place get on the housing market with wages like those securing a morgage will not be hard. On 22,000zl I hired myself a driver at the weekends and get myself ferried around the nightspots getting mangelized. However I've got a wife so no more fun for me. I

Life / How much do you HATE POLISH PEOPLE and POLAND [1260]

I don't think its a matter or choice, being straight or gay.

Being straight what's funny about that.

What isn't?
Its like saying whats funny about being thin? As if only being fat was funny.

I couldn't care a hoot what way people stray, whatever, really WHO CARES. Mute point.
I mock myself and then mock others.

Life / How much do you HATE POLISH PEOPLE and POLAND [1260]

What is the world coming to when some faggat makes fun of someone for being straight.

Well hopefully its the same world where a straight can make fun of gays.
Making fun of everyone and everything is the only answer. Those people who laugh at others but cannot mock themselves are missing the point.

Surely everyone on earth is a w a n k e r (except those people without hands or in a coma).

Life / Local Poles taking advantage of foreigners living in Poland [235]

Polish drivers drive very good managing to go fast through very bad, narrow roads. The foreigners would be extremely afraid to drive so fast in such roads and that's why they call polish driving risky and dangerous

lol...

This also extends to driving habits, is it me or does Poland seem to have more 'death wish' drivers than any other country!?

This year we've lost one 'cousin', my brother in laws close friend and my mother in law and her work colleagues ended up upside down broken battered, bloody and buised having bit hit head on by a now comatosed youth. One of the few things that really makes me nervous is the driving here. Especially if you aren't in control and are the passanger. I was recently driven to Warsaw and back, day trip. 10 hours a nerve shredding over and under taking.

I'm usually curtious when I'm out and about, I smile, greet people and open doors for people. However, more than once I've opened doors for people whilst about town and ended up standing like a pumpkin doorstopper as everyone takes advantage of the open door to try rushing in and out.

The other thing is customer service which can be surly and rude. Sometimes I feel like the invisibleman standing at a counter to pay while everyone around carries on doing their thing.

I've had only one person try and short change me on a 50zl note. A she was standing directly under the inshop CCTV, I just pointed at the camera and started ranting in English/Polish. Since my polsh is limited I'm not sure what made her change her mind, the CCTV or me repeatly shouting KURWA. Either way got my cash back.

Life / Polish legal system. [30]

I was watching the local news the other day, which featured the on camera (CCTV) arrested of a mugger at 2 am in my local town. All good viewing and it was impressive to see how quickly the local town guard reacted. The CCTV system covers the center of town very very well and is actively monitored, to the same efficiency level as any in the UK that I've seen. This is great since it does make one feel safe in the knowledge that you are being looked over. Though this is somewhat of a double edged sword, we have to accept that BiG Brother is and has always been watching.

Anyway I'm digresing, back to the dimwitted youth who was arrested for puching a lone female and running away with her bag. An unpleasant crime, though one commited through alcohol/drug induced idiocy with a victim who was badly shaken but not stirred.

The TV report I think said that the perp would receive anything from 6 to 12 years??????
Now I would like some clarifiation on this did I miss understand 6 to 12 years for months ? Or was I correct in understanding 'years'?

UK, Ireland / TRUTH AND DELUSION ABOUT POLES IN UK [65]

I don't think Poles are "hated" nor hounded in the UK. I don't disagree that the media (specifically the right-wing orientated papers) do seem to focus negatively on Polish immigrants. But they do this generally to most ethnic groups. And the poorer classes of society.

UK, Ireland / English people attitude towards Poles? [761]

lower brits

Are these people of small stature or are you refering to the white working class?

Just by using the two words together you have shown that you obviously do not consider yourself one of them.
Lennyd/noimmigration this muppet show of tag team nonsense isn't working. "you can fool some of the people some of the time, but you can't fool all the people all the time."

Your style, mentality and spelling give you away, deeply reminisent of a certain Manser character who trawled this forum a while back.

(Is that you Paul?)

Remember how you answer will tell me if I'm right or wrong.

Come on man, show me your hand.

UK, Ireland / Anti-Polish sentiment of England [253]

hopefully though she will soon die

Some how I think you are more likely to die, consumed by your own burning hatred.
For someone who really dislikes the whole Polish thing, why on earth do you spend so much time online ranting it really is bizarre?

Perhaps you had a bad experience with a polish girl within the last two years and are still controlled by vitriolic hatred for all things Polish. Its unhealthy, you need to let go.

Your deliberate attempts to upset, insult and anger people is a reflection of the emotions you have inside you. This needs changing, for your own sake. This constant repetative posting is bordering on the obssesive, sitting infront of a screen typing bilious remarks is bad energy.

And you know this. You need to exorcise your inner demons.

I am sure that the stupid blacks that live in eastern europe have hardly any legislation in place that protects them and give allows them equal rights

???????? are you on drugs?

Life / A couple, mid 30's considering retiring in Poland. [19]

f we have a budget of 15,000 PLN Would it be reasonable for us to purchase a small plot of land in the (for instance) near the Bieszczady Mountains and build on it in the future when we retire?

Try adding another 0. Prices are affected by building permission don't make the begginer mistake of buy farming land or protected land. This happens...people get stung.

I'm afraid the property and land market is strong at the momment. You are correct in planning ahead though. Perhaps with that sort of budget you should try further East. However, this comes with as many if not more complications.

Love / I got married to a Polish wife; Polish family advice needed [45]

1. A woman will become a carbon copy of her own mother - if you want to see what your wife is going to look like in 20 years, just look at her mother. Is she unhappy? ******? Unstable? This is your wife in 20 years, my friend.

Do you really have to remind us...jesus...dude nothing gym, plastic surgery and prozac won't cure.

Anyhow just wondering...

Life / A couple, mid 30's considering retiring in Poland. [19]

Stop being a troll, I doubt if the Prime Minister earns that money, A pensioner gets around 800Zl, and the average worker gets 2000zl a month.. Sure if you take drugs and visits the call girls 10,000 zl might be enough...lol

Well hate to burst your bubble batman but I live well with the missus but I'm not loaded by any stretch of the imagination but that is what I've found to be our monthly spend, and my wife and I don't have kids yet. When you are used to a certain quality of life it is not so simple to downsize. The oint I thought of being an expat was to increase your quality of life. Poland is getting alot more expensive, having said that there are a lot of people with cash. The Public sector is poorly paid. But there are many people earning reasonable money. I suppose it depends on the circles you mix in.

As for the Troll comment, it kinda backfired when you preceded to write "I doubt if the Prime Minister earns that money." Come on who is the troll.

And incidently my wife and I don't use callgirls, we use each other......

Love / I got married to a Polish wife; Polish family advice needed [45]

Good point although it could be argued that being a housewife is a fulltime job.
Maybe the father should bite the bullet, declare bancrupcy and go to prison. At least while he is there the states paying, he can't drink. And he is being a man and doing the honourable thing. Maybe you should suggest this to him. Choose a family dinner, don't tell your wife what you are going to say. Just make her translate on the spot. Say it in all seriousness and as one man to another. This way its a win win. Because if he doesn't then he is a coward. If he's proven to be a coward when he should be head of the family, then you don't have to pay squat, because he is dishonoured.

HOWEVER, TAKE INTO ACCOUNT HIS STATE OF MIND. If he is unstable he might do himself. So reflection ignore my advise. The other er...side effect is that you singlehandly turn the family against you in one fell swoop. Actually I think maybe the above is VERY BAD ADVICE. Its all well and good mulling it over on the form, but we have the blessing of being very detached from the reality Gunner is experiencing.

I'm going to stick by my orginal hypothesis, you are ******.

Love / I got married to a Polish wife; Polish family advice needed [45]

recently got married to a Polish Wife, but it wasnt until i became married that i was made aware of the perilous financial position of her parents

Warning bells. do mind me asking how long you have known your wife?
Why did she not tell you, was she ashamed or hiding the truth for other reasons.

If they have had these problems before then chances are they will do again, even if the current debt is paid. As for alcohol and ciggys well that will shorten the life expectancy but onroute will be medical bills etc.

Well 200zl to 300zl per month I doubt will break the bank. However, setting the precident of helping the parents is fraught with danger especially if more and more cash is asked for. This will cause an large strain on your marriage.

As for the loan companies, unfortunately these companies are springing up everywhere like fungus. And the poverty trap is sprung. Again the older less educated classes are victims of these companies who are essentially loan sharks.

If the father drinks, this is the core problem. Until he sorts it out or dies there will be financial problems. I'm sorry to say.

Although you do have family duties, your first duty is to yourself and your wife. As a family unit.

i wish I could offer more sage advise, but I'm just an ordinary Joe.

You are in a catch 22 situation, damned if do, damned if you don't.
What do the other husbands of your wives sisters think.

Result of Poland accepting the Euro.

<<NEWSFLASH>> The poor will get poorer and the rich will get richer.

Surprise, surprise. Depending on Polands growth entry should be around 2012 to 2014.

Wroclawboy. Jesus man you really seem to have had a bad time. I've done exactly what you did. And am having a ******* ball. Loads of parties, free time, good food, loads friends. I love it. I suppose it boils down to who you know and not what you know.

Life / A couple, mid 30's considering retiring in Poland. [19]

My husband is a licenced electrician with his own contracting company here - are Electricians in demand in Poland?

Yes since many skilled tradesmen are working in the UK. I have a mate who earns very very good money as an electrician. However he is self employed and this is the only real way to make the cash. The major obstacle is the language. Without it in the long term you are sunk. There is a huge amount of nepotism and cronyism in Poland and without contacts life is not easy to negociate. There are many factors you have to consider, just because life seems to be cheaper is because you are comparing £ to Zloty.

If you are living and working in Poland you'll have to think about money in Zloty and suddenly life is not so cheap. I've been watching the News today and everything is going up, cigarrettes to house to books to bikes. Already to come inline with the EURO.

If you want to live comfortably with a family you'll need at least £2000 a month or 10,000zl.

I wish you luck in whatever you choose, but choose wisely and be prepared.

Real Estate / I am English, 40, want to sell my home and move to Poland [17]

If you are moving over here perhaps the first thing to do you be try before you buy. Perhaps rent out your house for a year. Commit yourself to living in Poland for a year. plan a budget and perhaps a travel itinary travel the place and experience the life style. I advise learning some of the language (check out BBC learning.co.uk)and prepare yourself carefully. Do your research read up on Poland, just as you are doing now. If you invest wisely in the property market you can definately make money. If you are a skilled craftsman, then I'm sure you could renovate properties, this is a money earner.

However, you need Polish friends, people you trust and who can help you find your feet. Without a support net work of buddies, you will struggle. The paperchase out hereis rubbish, and as Wroclaw Boy as demonstrated in other threads you can become exceptionally frustrated. If you have friends, and people you trust around you then your chances of success increase tenfold. Again check, check and check again when you are a foreigner know you facts things are not always as they seem, when you're a stranger in a strange land.
