Travel / What are Your Best Poland Travel Tips? [64]

Since we'll be flying in to Krakow, and hope to spend a couple of days in and around Krakow (seeing the city itself, visiting Auschwitz, visiting the salt mine), we were thinking of just starting our time there instead of coming back to it later. Are there any good hotels in Krakow that will meet you at the airport and take you to the hotel? How long would the trip be from Krakow to Auschwitz? How much time should we budget for touring Auschwitz? How much time for the salt mine?

the salt mines, you can go there by train (little train ^_^)
and it doesn't take much time to get there.
if you go to the train station, you can buy a ticket there, and check the times it will run.
the salt mines tour was somthing like....hour to hour and half ^_^

Love / Should I come to visit my Polish girlfriend in Poland or not? [26]

hey guys

i've been dating a polish girl thru net we share everything , happiness , sadness , occasions ....etc , she didn't tell me at first that she's got a BF i figured it out by my self , the thing is she's still with him "honestly i don't love her" but i'm coming to c her , she invited me over . sometimes she gives me these moves like u know "do u love me or not" but i've been always trying avoid it .... she thinks i satisfy her needs than her BF .

the thing is , should i come over and visit her or not ? by the way she wants me to stay long and go everywhere in poland .

i'm not polish "from an other country"

regards

comeon. you only live once ^_^
why not? if you go you might just have the time of your life...and even fall in love...
if you don't...you could miss out on something wonderful ^_^
if she is asking you to come see her...that should tell you somthing...
that she really cares about you ^_^
lots of people wait a life time to have this!

take a chance...
*best wishes to you ^_^

What brands of toilet paper and bottled water would you recommend we buy? How much change might I need to use a pay toilet? Who the heck is doing all this drink-spiking and stuff-stealing on the trains and buses?

lol. brands of toliet paper?
you will see when you arrive there. it is not like the toliet paper in the US for sure. ^_^

Bottled water?
if you dont like the "gas water" just look for
"niegazowana" which means no gas....
i think any kind is ok?

Change for the toliet...
somthing like 1zloty

I dont know about the drink spiking and stealing? just make sure to watch your stuff...
no matter where you're at really...

Life / Do Polish people sneeze? [38]

and how exactly would you prove this?!
Have 1000 people in a room full of pepper...
and wait to see what happens? ^_^

When people sneeze...
you say
na zdrowie! (in polish)
you also say na zdrowie to say "cheers" ^_^
it means somthing like...to your health

that is interesting ^_^

Love / i love you -why say it if you dont mean it [56]

good luck getting that out of a pole. lol j/k.. could be though bubbles; poles rarely say that they love you so if i heard it from one i'd think it to be more serious. but you know how it is with generalizations, don't you?

it all becomes more clear...

Love / i love you -why say it if you dont mean it [56]

Sooo if an american says I love you, you should question it, but if a Pole says it, it is probably for real?

maybe you shouldn't trust all americans...
but some of us are sincere ;)
...not all of us throw around "i love you"...when we know it's not true. ;)

Or more importantly say it for the wrong reason?

i think the american culture definitely over uses them....
...but i think we just want some kind of reassurance that we are cared about
(that doesn't mean that everyone should be telling everyone they "love each other"...when it's not the real and honest truth.)

maybe americans are just more verbal?!?
and want verbal reassurance of somthing?!?

i am not sure why "love" is the instant thing to say.

Travel / What are Your Best Poland Travel Tips? [64]

It's not about napkins anyway!

of course not ;)
it's about all that yummy food ^_^

also, bottled water is a must ^_^
we were told not to drink the tap water in Krakow.
However, it seemed ok...noone got sick that i remember...

but, better safe than sorry :)

also, bottled water is a must ^_^

p.s. niegazowana "no gas water" ^_^
we always looked for a little baby on the bottle ^_^

on the note of toliets...

bring tissues with you too :)
you can buy the little travel ones packs at the store when you arrive.

they surve two purposes....
1) extra napkins for dinner time ( the napkins there are sooooo thin! like tissue paper you use in gift bags)
2) "toliet paper" incase there is some lovely rough papertowel consistancy stuff....or in case there is not any at all (that goes for really...any place :)

and...

Stamp you tickets for sure!
Sometimes it is difficult to find the stamping machine for trains
(for the inner city trams, they are located on tram, but for trains is located on or before the platform)
(for example, on the train from Gdyna to Gandask, we could not find the stamping machine...and we recieved a fine of 90 Zloty!)

Life / Poland's Craft Stores, Yarn Shops and Sewing/Fabric / Clothes Stores - in or near Krakow? [21]

i know this is a bit old...

but, i remember distinctively, that Długa street (Ulica Długa) had lots of fabric stores along the way ^_^
i also recall a store with embroidery supplies in the Krakow Plaza mall
(it's nearly in nowa huta) (im sure there are other places?!? but i lived in this area ^_^)

...and there are alot of "second hand" stores...everywhere really....that had some really interesting fabrics too ^_^
you have to search for craft supplies in krakow....that's for sure ^_^
(but again, lots of interesting second hand things there :)

the glue is a bit odd too. no high industrial strength ones
(that i found at the time....that match up to e6000! so take plenty of that if you use it ;)
if i remember more things, i will be sure to let you know ^_^

p.s.
one thing i wish i brought with me....my sewing machine.
of course, it is more difficult to bring that with you over seas ^_^

Language / Things Polish people who speak English language say [180]

i've noticed somthing like,

instead of somthing is -ed
they will use -y
or some other ending as such ^_^

best example of that...
"crowdy"
instead of
"crowded!" ;)

i have to admit...very cute ;)
