Life / Are there many atheists and agnostics in Poland? [47]

Thats the thing with being very devout. It obviously has its good points and its bad. Like the modern American is influenced by technology and the media, leading to a lazier person who wants more money for less work, while the average latino is more influenced by the church which makes them harder workers and more family oriented.

Everything has its ups and downs.

Life / Indian moved to Poland [532]

dont tell me what to do.....where r u 4rm anyway?

Nowy Targ...why do you care? Yes I'm Polish. You should just leave this forum and go join the anti-indian forums somewhere else.

The Polish people here like to respect others, obviously something you have trouble with.

Life / Are there many atheists and agnostics in Poland? [47]

Yes but there is something very chivalric about how religious the eastern countries are in today's world. I think countries like Poland and Slovakia and the others in that area are the only countries in the world today who have an opportunity to be able to perfectly balance out religion with modern day theology. They have old values, and are getting new education and technology and have a chance to retain some of the old with their new.

I hope they do. The western countries are already past that point.

Decisions should b based on facts not faith!

That is an opinion. The majority of people in Poland believe in their faith and will fight for what they believe in. Why should you try and change that. It may not be for you but you aren't living there so you shouldn't care really.

Just my 2 cents...

History / Where do Polands non Jewish victims go? [64]

They were busy partying on the "Aryan" side.

Yes...you obviously know your history. Jews were loaded onto trains going west, Poles onto trains going east. Jews went to concentration camps, Poles to gulags.

Both of the places were tools of the devil, designed to obliterate a group of people. Equal evils committed by different groups. Nazis killed Jews and Poles, predominantly Jews, but Russians killed Poless and Jews, predominantly Poles.

Polish sons with blonde hair and blue eyes were taken from their mothers and given to German parents. For years, even before WW2, Russians practiced "Russification" of all people under their control, including Poles.

The Holocaust should represent all evil deeds committed in the 30s and 40s. No one group should claim they were the only ones affected. Anything not Aryan was believed to be sub-human by the Nazis; that means Slavs, gypsies, Jews, etc.

Anything not white and Christian was expendible to them and were eventually going to be destroyed if they had their way.

Jews were not the only victims. Poles were not the only victims. The museums should be dedicated to all victims and to those who fought bravely to save them.

Life / The strangest things in Poland [468]

The strangest things in Poland

Tourists...actually toursists anywhere are always strange. They always seem to wear a visor, sun glasses, short shorts, high socks, sandals, and a hawaiian shirt. They always have that smile on their face like they are enjoying where they are, but you can tell they just want to get back to the hotel and sit down because their feet hurt.

UK, Ireland / FT: UK labour fears as migrants go home [7]

turn their back on Britain

Right...they're really letting the Brits down. Many of those people wanted them to leave. What the problem is?

I like that they are going back to Poland though. Glad to know they aren't abandoning their country :]

Genealogy / how many know their own family histories? [139]

Mate, you must be salivating waiting for that sabre to come to you.

Hell yeah. I plan on going to it before it comes to me.

These sabres are rare as hen's teeth and go for 10's of thousands

Damn... 8/

(not that you'd ever sell it).

NOT A SNOWBALL'S CHANCE IN HELL. Way too much history and pride in that thing.

Any chance of posting piccies of the sabre?

My friend if I had any pictures I would gladly share them, trouble is that it is in Poland, and I'm in the states...

What have you checked, have you ever been to the NJ Archives?

Nope...might check it out in the future though. Good thought. :]

Life / Whippet dogs in Poland? [18]

Umm...no...actually wtf is a whippet?

All I know is that we like our sheep dogs along with our half dog/half wolf hybrids. (my parents each had one as children in Poland, my cousins also had them)

Is that actually pretty popular in Poland? Half wolf half dog?

USA, Canada / New York trip suggestions [56]

Well the place is so big you can't possibly see the whole thing, and appreciate it, in one visit, so going a few times is nice.

Isn't the Metropolitan Museum in NY also? Or is that another name for the Museum of Modern Art?

USA, Canada / New York trip suggestions [56]

Well one girlfriend, and a couple of the girls decided that they can just spill their hearts out to me, so a lot of my day now is being spent listening to their problems over the phone...I'm too nice to say "SHUT THE F*CK UP YOU STUPID C*NT I DONT GIVE A DAMN ABOUT YOUR PROBLEMS!" to their faces.

Life / "No sex before 18" in Poland? [25]

What is a great catholic in ur mind anyway cucko?

As long as you go to church every sunday, and confession before every major holiday, you're fine in my mind.

You see more and more people lose their religion these days... :[

Life / Cultural readjustment... returning to Poland from the West. [58]

Cultural readjustment... returning to Poland from the West.

Well this isn't a problem because it is Poland, but because of the situation in Poland. There are things you can do in the UK that you just can't do in Poland, YET. The way people view some things in the UK are also different than they are in Poland. From my experiences going out and partying with friends every night might be frowned upon by some of the older people in Poland, while in the UK and US it's totally fine. Little things like that get to you.

Remeber when all the Poles showed up in the UK? They were homesick...now that they have adjusted, you can say they are new-homesick now that they are back in Poland. If you've lived somewhere for so long you are going to miss your friends and surroundings after you leave. Happens everywhere all the time. It's just happening all at once with a lot of people now that they are all coming home. It'll all blow over soon enough and we'll all be happy.

:]

If you want her to get over her "depression" take her out and see the countryside. The lakes, mountains, valleys, etc. I've seen so many pictures of things in Poland that you will never find in the states, and vice versa. I know what my mom and dad miss the most about Poland is definitely their surroundings. They loved the mountain air and all that good stuff.

Poland is part of the EU now, so it's not like it will be hard to go and visit your new chums in the UK any time you want. :]

News / Thank you Polish patriotic emigrants for sending money to Poland [27]

send all the money they earn back to Poland

Impossible, they keep much more money than they send. They have to pay rent, food, etc.

Exchange rate is really good, thats why a few pounds will get you a lot of zloty. They earned that money anyway, why should they have to spend it your way?
