Language / 'przytulic' cannot ever be properly translated into English [33]

Yes, I wonder if there any English words that can't readily be translated into Polish....

Polish is a richer language than English?

That wasn't really a rhetorical question! Anyone care to offer their opinion...

It's interesting how many words you need to know to be truly fluent. You can get by knowing perhaps 5,000 (?) or so words of a foreign language. This was brought home to me when playing scrabble with my Polish girlfriend. Her english is very good, but not in the same league as a native english speaker.

No, she didn't. She was badly advised by some embassy staff.

Language / Polish Onomateopia [26]

Language / Polish Onomateopia [26]

puk puk (knock knock)

that's a good example. animal noises don't count, but interesting nonetheless.
I must try to think up some Polish knock knock jokes.

Love / moving to poland to be together is this the right decision? [67]

i am just concerned about my boyfriends reaction

I can relate to this (from personal experience!). To you, it makes perfect sense, but not to him. You need to get to the bottom of it, not going to be easy. I can only sympathise.

Moving there temporarily may not be an option

True, perhaps an extended holiday is a better option. He should, of course, be delighted that goodlady is prepared to relocate. Perhaps goodlady could list his objections. On a lighter note, what starsign is he? I have a theory!

they are going to call you according to where your seats in the plane are anyway

they rarely do this on budget airlines
