Travel / What are Your Best Poland Travel Tips? [64]

If you click on similar discussions, you'll see there are some tips in there. I have a few though.

Try all of the food. You'll find that mostly everything is tasty.

Make sure you buy a ticket for the tram. If you don't stamp one you can get a fine.

Don't cross the street when the little man is red. You can also get a fine for this.

Don't buy PL currency from anyone on the street. Some are known to sell outdated notes. use an ATM or a Kantor.

last tip....have lots of fun :)

Is Poland on the Euro system? Are US dollars widely accepted? Accepted at all?

Yes, as Lukasz says..no problems. You can use your ATM card/VISA/MC to withdraw PL currency. This way is also the best exchange rate....from what I've experienced anyway.

Love / IS IT FRIENDS OR SOMETHING ELSE [13]

(I try to find out but he always manages to avoid the question)!!!!

Stand your ground :) He needs to voice his intentions and you can't let him avoid answering you.

Your pro says male. Is this a gay relationship?

UK, Ireland / English people attitude towards Poles? [761]

I rest my case, you cannot post without insults, your words are all the arguement needed.

How can you think "get a spine" and "cry me a river" are insulting??

Point out one instance where I have "told people to go home" ,go on,where ?

I don't think Z meant you. It was probably in refrence to the person that was quoted.

Food / Lovely Polish drinks! [13]

Piotr i Pawel is a store that sells everything. It's not big like a Tesco's, but has a good amt of liquor.

If I needed a flat in Edinburgh for 2 weeks how would I go about this? Does anyone have any recommendations? Is a Hostel my best bet?

Thanks

UK, Ireland / Need flat for 2 weeks in Edinburgh [32]

Thanks for the quick response guys :)

It's not for me and i'm not sure how comfortable I'd be with having my GF staying in a Hostel. I have no knowlege of them...are they safe for young women? she needs just 2 weeks and not many people are willing to rent for that time period and she hasn't a lot of money.

Szarlotka..Thank you I'll take a look at this.

Travel / Going to Poland in a week... How much money to have a "good time"? [11]

It seems that things are MORE expensive than in US???

Not quite, but soon may be :) If you consider $10 for a meal to be expensive, than maybe. Just figure $100 US will give you about 240- 250 zl.

A beer will be about 3 dollars. Used to be a lot better :/

UK, Ireland / Need flat for 2 weeks in Edinburgh [32]

When is it and what sort of money is reasonable for you or GF to pay for rent?

Sometime in Nov. She's looking for sth not more than £ 75-100 per week. Would this be possible?

Law / Today's Zloty - 1.00 GBP = 5.25471 PLN [29]

Yeah. I should've thought about that. Our exchange is somewhere around 2.56 per dollar. I'll be going in December, so I hope our dollar will gain a little more value.

Not especially. Where's that guest house about?

Airlie Guest House
29 Minto Street
Edinburgh

it says 16-40 depending on what time of yr.

That's great - I hope she enjoys her stay!

Thank you. I am more concerned with her safety than anything else so, I'd like to avoid Hostels.

UK, Ireland / Polls for Poles in the UK [178]

everybody has a right to vote yes, but not in another country where it dosen't concern it

What about concerns for their family that are living in PL (or whatever country)?

UK, Ireland / Polls for Poles in the UK [178]

why does the UK care about that???

It's called being a good host :) If I was living over seas I'd want the best for my fam too. Regardless if they're also voting. Every vote counts and every person has the right. Why argue about sth like this?.
