UK, Ireland / Why do Poles come to England? [514]

you do not have to be and nobody asked you to go anywhere and be anything that you do not want to be? Did I demand something from you?

No, but you just ask for it by making your comments.

they come because they love the cheap costs involved, they are not stupid, they do that for their own long-term goals, not for us!

No, they aren't stupid. The fact is that a degree from a UK Uni looks a lot better to future employers than a degree from poland. Of course they get degrees and work experience for themselves.....duh. Do you think I work to support my country or other people??

I used to see the Poles in Moscow years and years ago and I know how they behave!

Wipe the dust off of your brain...today is today...not years ago.

UK, Ireland / Why do Poles come to England? [514]

Quoting: Wyspianska
All Poles which i know and which come to England are faggots. Think they are so cool, cuz they are working in foreign countr

To tell you the truth, I see many of these Polish workers and they are the 'pits', the type that would be rejected for National Service even and that is why they come apple picking in huge numbers.

Who the hell are you to judge? I know people that are working in the UK (including my GF) for opportunities that don't exist in most places within Poland. Keep in mind that many of these PL are also attending university and getting an education. If the opportunity and experience is there, why not take it? Being 'go getter' has proven to be a success in most cases. Just because you're miserable, it doesn't mean you have to be bitter towards others. I wish i could come to the UK and "steal" your job, but fortunately I don't 'fancy' being a prick.

USA, Canada / No US Visa Waiver for Poles - 8/9/07 [96]

Does the US really get a lot of illegal _Polish_ immigrants?

Found this article.

I'm not sure about the accuracy though :/ Seems like a bit much.

This is what we call veggies-fruits in America 'produce'. It's used every day in our grocery stores. We do have produce departments too ;)

Life / Public Transport in Warsaw [33]

No, I think Szczecin has some of the worst trams. You'll find some of these old trams in a lot of cities though.

Why is this topic so special that it's only limited to those that live in Warsaw. A lot of us have traveled there. Our opinion doesn't matter. Pfff with YOUR thread :P

USA, Canada / Advice for Polish girlfriend getting tourist visa to visit America? [45]

My advice would be: Don't go to America, Polish girlfriend. If you are a sensitive person and dont close your senses to the world around you, then you will experience Polonophobia as you have never experienced before, pourng forth from the American customs, from the media, from your neighbours, from Thirld World shop assistants, from American customs... you name it.

Come on Puzz.... Why do you say that? Everyone can have a different experience here. My GF just came to stay with me in NJ and she didn't experience any of these things. She had a fantastic time. Customs didn't even give her a problem. I say not true for all except the media because I don't have paparazi following me around ...... yet ;)

She was surprised how there was no polonophobia. She experienced more of that whilst getting her education in Scotland.

any heaven on earth.

It is what you make of it. We went from NYC to Niagara Falls to the Outer Banks in North Carolina...and that was heaven.

UK, Ireland / English people attitude towards Poles? [761]

None of the polish people will speak to us even though they know a little english

You may want to take into consideration that not eveyone is comfortable with their English speaking skills and may be a bit embarassed when trying to converse.

One girl at work is really upsetting me, she is speaking in a very hostile manner, and is talking about me to her friends right in front of me, i have learnt polish swear words and i know for a fact she is being very mean about me.

Are you positive she's talking about you? Is it possible that some of the other workers make them feel out of place?

News / LPR - League of the Polish Repressed (and retarded) [49]

you have anything against getting rid of these monuments and signs?

I almost forgot. What are your feelings on this subject? To you feel that your current administrations priorities are just where they should be? Maybe you can give me some insight on the positives that can come out of this :) I'm very interested in seeing your response. You seem to have many deep feeings about your country. Where do you reside in PL if I may ask?

News / LPR - League of the Polish Repressed (and retarded) [49]

Or does it come just from the media hacks' propaganda?

I'll be honest with you Puzz. I personally know nothing about radio Marija except from what I hear from the lips of others. While in Poland there was a lot of talk about it being a great influence on the current president and how it sidetracks him from focusing on some of the real issues that are affecting the country negatively. For examples of that (being as I'm getting older and don't exactly remember) i'd have to talk to the people that I've heard it from :)

Why would their priorities lie in the wrong places?

So, do you think that focusing on these (not the Pot thing) is a good use of time? What about the issue with the majority of Polands youth wanting to leave to work elsewhere because of low paying jobs? Maybe find the sourse and a fix for poluted drinking water or fixing a health care system that I hear is in shambles (which my country also needs to work on) because the Dr's aren't paid well. I myself have no answers, but I'm sure if the twins put their minds at work a solution can be found. So why focus on spending all of this money to change street signs? Is that really Polands largest issue?

Please keep in mind that this is MY perception. I don't know your country as well as maybe you or some others on here. Just like everyone "knows" what's going on in the us. Most people are making assumptions looking from the outside, so what really is the truth?

Do you have anything against getting rid of these monuments and signs? If yes, do you have anything against getting rid of Nazi monuments and signs?

No I don't, but like I said before Is it necessary at this point in time to focus on this? Is Auschwitz another that will crumble instead of remaining as a reminder and educator? I'd hate to see that because I've never really understood the significance until I was actually there to see it with my own eyes.

Or, being, as I understand, a Native American would you have anything against getting rid of street signs and monuments glorifying racist killers of the Indians?

We celebrate Columbus day every year which is a harsh reminder also the fact that we've created this overpopulated mish mosh with super highrises and poluted rivers that ruin our scenery and kill our wildlife are all reminders of what the Europeans have created. I can't change this or tear everything down to make it better. All I can do is try to change the future and perserve what we do have left :)

Please don't take offense to some of the things that I write. I am in no way a polophobe, but rather a person interested in "why" some things are handled the way they are and may question them. It's a learning process.

Take care Puzz :)

I was actually shocked to see Neptunes twig and berries covered by a leaf when I was in Gdansk. It's only been recently covered and I was wondering why someone would deface art like that. Is it that embarassing to them?
