Language / The sound of the Polish 'R' [33]

Many Americans claim they cannot pronou ce the trilled 'r' in the Polish word ryba, no matter how hard they try. In fact, they are saying it everyday without knowing it.
The way many Americans pronounce 'getting' is exactly as if it had been spelt 'gerying' in Polish.

Most Americans (if they've been anywhere) should know how to roll an r. Thres too miuch Spanish here to not know how to roll.

News / America: Take your missile base and shove it! [116]

Poles have no quarrel with Iran

But I'm sure Iran doesn't like Poland ...just for being an ally.

Missile bases don't work because they've never been tested!!!

And where do you get this information that they don't work? Have you tested for them?

The only people on here who usually favor the base are Polish Americans..

And the other way around. I've seen quite a few people here that live in the US they're anti- US, but are so nationalistic about PL .....and they don't even live there or haven't for years.

USA, Canada / How can one migrate to Canada [43]

Let me know how so I can send all of these Geese back. Dang Canadian geese are invading the US ;) We have to hire companies like "Geese Police" or "Get the flock out" in order to control these buggers.

Genealogy / I have got alot of Polish DNA [51]

Wow, so I guess this is why you feel qualified enough to tell people Poland is not for them. You and Legion are similar, you know the majority of Poles and you represent the country whilst residing in the USA :) LOL

Law / "Texas style" steakhouse in Poznan. Worthy investment? [35]

I was just wondering what possibilities are out there when it comes to steakhouses in Poland. I've had a few steaks there and wasn't entirely impressed. I love most PL food, but I think they lack in the steak dept.

What do you think the chances of extortion are if any? Would the word "Texas" be tainted due to our unpopular president?

Thanks

Life / Polish Youth - are they violent? [71]

Don't get me wrong Shell, I don't think all Polish people think this way. There are always going to be people that will mock and harass just because they're different. IMO it's not only a "just don't mix" thing, I think it's a combination of the two. But this is just my opinion anyhoo. I'm not a know it all, but I do make observations and this is just what I see.

Life / Polish Youth - are they violent? [71]

I'm from New York, which is no picninc either, but I feel like I know how to carry myself and deal with crap without it escalating too much

Think about where you are. It's like going back to the 60's in the US all over again. You just have to try and ignore them....and yes, people have tried to pick up my gf while I was with her...and I'm white :)

UK, Ireland / Anybody knows how to watch Polish channels in UK? [36]

Ho Hum Iris. We've heard it all before.

Oh yes i forgot, you all come over to bleed the Uk dry for good wages, benefits, health care etc.

You all? Wow, you're quite the networker. It's quite difficult to know every Pole in the UK. What is your secret?

It appears to me that you're a clueless nutter.

Life / Youthful drinking in Poland [6]

Are there fines/arrests for purchasing beer for youths in PL? I was quite surprised to see a high school party at a pub my first time in PL. It doesn't seem like many places will card you to get in to a pub. Some clubs maybe, but It looks like as long as your arm can reach the bar with zloty, you're served a cold one.

Life / Polish Youth - are they violent? [71]

I think they're just loud, but when you come from a place that breeds violence, everything else doesn't phase you much. WHere are you from masks?

Life / How to deal with rude rich Polish people? [65]

My grandpa who owns his entire block in orange county shops at thrift stores and reuses paper plates! He is insane

He's not insane, hes a product of the depression. Most of our elders are this way.

Why is it you always talk about money? ...oh that's right, you're in LA....the American Plastic land :)

UK, Ireland / The Independent about Poles in the UK: "Poles are under attack." [83]

Not all British people dislike the PL. Everywhere you go there are some who are Nationalists.
If you don't like it, don't go. People have their own reasons for going and to let a few hot headed Brits make your decision is giving them exactly what they want. You can run from the problem, but it'll never fix it.

Life / Grafitti in Warsaw [44]

Grafitti is not art. Its ****. If those ******** repected other peoples property then it would be art.

kids need to be beaten more

It doesn't have to be on other peoples property .......and murals are considered art. People buy it and they have galleries.

Who are you to say what is or isn't art?

Life / The "Ski" surname in American Movies [21]

Have you ever noticed that in American movies people with a "Ski" surname (Zalinski, Kowalski) they are always some sort of side character or comic relief. Like a clumsly scientist or mooseheaded strongman.

No. What movie?

Life / What is the Drum n Bass scene like in Poland [13]

I like Techstep and Hardstep D&B. I can listen to it without being on drugs and I'm sure others can as well. Just because you don't like it......

There's D&B in Poland, but you have to search for it.

History / Ancient Polish History thread [180]

The Biskupin site is a fortified settlement in Poland and, belonging to the Lausitz (Late Bronze age) and Hallstatt C (Early Iron age) cultures

It wasn't only from the bronze and iron age. On the same property there are camp remains from the Neolithic Age.

It's a great place to visit and it was interesting to learn about how they warshipped a 4 headed god "Światowid" :)

Love / Polish-Islam Relationship Union [450]

really which religion.

Ask Bush and his holy crusaders :)

Christians are just as guilty as other religions.

2 catholic priests who were sentenced to death for their role in the genocide of 1994 in which a million Tutsis and Hutus were killed.

I have nothing against any religions, but soem are or have been too extreme in their practices. A god would never create this.

towels

It's called a burka

UK, Ireland / 13,000 Polish births this year, in the UK [180]

It's nice to see some of his other countrymen posting positive comments. It just proves that not all British think like this knuclehead.
