Genealogy / Lepik Surname - meaning and origins [25]

if the name is Tomasz Lepik then most likely he was a Pole or Polonized Estonian living in Estonia.

if he was Estonian then his first name would be Toomas, not the Polish Tomasz

Travel / My opinion on Gdansk and Poland after 11 days [45]

I am not talking about the Old Town but get a bus and go to Podmiejska and those streets in the outskirts. God-bloody awful! Like England would have been like in the 1500's!

If I remember rightly, it was called Orunia the district where I stayed in Gdansk twenty three years ago.

parts of Orunia are old and this is where the pensioners and poor people live and the other parts of Orunia are beautiful new developments. the best thing is that from Orunia it is only a 7 minute bus ride to centre of Gdansk and the train station.

Love / Do Polish men like to flirt? [42]

So....what happened? On the second date?

well when the girls undressed right in front of me without me saying a word, the only thing that could happen was sexy time. however there was one occasion when i told a naked girl to get dressed and i made her cry.

Love / Do Polish men like to flirt? [42]

do men really like aggressive women? I don't think they do....

i have had 2 women who simply got naked right before me on the second date. is that agressive? i don't know. they simply had a strong sex drive.

Love / Do Polish men like to flirt? [42]

But six months ago, I started to look a lot more attractive

did you get a nose or boob job?

I decided to wait until he made some very overt physical advance. As this has not happened (despite him sitting close to me at times)

maybe he is shy and likes you? why don't you put the moves on him?

I believe that we are just in a friendship

a guy and girl can never be true friends because one of them always wants to sleep with the other.

UK, Ireland / Why do Poles come to England? [514]

There is a big difference between that kind of immigration and having 750,000 Poles arrive on your door step carrying there suite cases

looks like your job hauling petrol is in jeapordy as many of those 750,000 Poles will be better drivers and do your job better and for less $$$.

What did the Russians 'free' Eastern Europe from?

The Russians did clear the Germans out of Poland which cost the Russians at least a million lives.

The Russian armies which pushed the Germans out of Poland consisted of the Belorussian Front / Ukrainian Front which included the Polish 1st and 2nd Armies

Major Offensives:

1. Operation Bagration (June 1944- August 1944)
Russians push Germans out of Eastern Poland, Ukraine and Belarus.
Estimated Casualties : Germans 300,000 Russians 100,000 killed

2. Lublin-Brest Offensive (July 1944- September 1944)
Russain attack to clear Germans from Central Poland. Russians secure Lublin and Brest regions however stop on the shores of the Vistula river across from Warsaw where the Poles were Uprising against the Germans.

Casualties : Germans 120,000 Russians 80,000 killed

3. Lvov-Sandomierz Offensive (July 1944)
Russians drive Germans out of Lwow and Sandomierz region
Estimated Casualties: Germans 300,000 Russians 100,000 killed

4. Vistula-Oder Offensive (January 1945- February 1945)
Russians drive from the Vistula to the Oder river pushing the Germans out of Poland.
Estimated Casualties: Germans 100,000 Russians 80,000 killed

5. Battle of Berlin (April 1945- May 1945)
Russians/Polish Army drives into Berlin and captures the capital of Nazi Germany.
Estimated Casualties: Germans 458,00 Russians 300,000 killed

Hence we Poles must remember that many Russian lives were lost to rid Poland of German Occupation

History / Worst Polish leader Lech Kaczynski or King Stanislaw Poniatowski? [44]

The Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth for a while controlled parts of Moldavia and other regions of the Black Sea as this was the Commonwealth-Ottoman border and many bloody wars were fought between the Poles and Turks in this region.

History / Worst Polish leader Lech Kaczynski or King Stanislaw Poniatowski? [44]

Poland never was friom sea to sea. You are talking about Great Lithuania in 16 century

In 1569 due to the Union of Lublin lands formerly under control of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania such as Podlachia, Volhynia, Podolia and the Kiev regions were incorporated into the Crown of Poland.

Thus Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth reached from the Baltic to the Black sea in the 16- 17th Century

History / Worst Polish leader Lech Kaczynski or King Stanislaw Poniatowski? [44]

and particularly Poland, whose historic (I deem not really important anymore)

are you retarded? are you stating that Poland's history is not important?

I believe, Poland with its unique history of living in Three Worlds, should have known more common sense and compassion than what itself has showed.

Poland in 3 worlds?

please stop smoking the crack

History / Jewish belongings [118]

There were a lot of anti-semites in Poland – the Jedwabne massacres were terrible and you Poles would be better off not denying that.

If Poles were so anti-semetic then why did Jews live and prosper in Poland for approx. 700 years? Also it must be noted that Poland had the biggest Jewish population (after the U.S.) before the outbreak of World War II.

Travel / Ukraine - A New Destination of Vacation for Poles [27]

Thanks for all that useless information Witek........I think we all originally come from Africa!!........

by examining different haplogroups such as the R1a1 we are able to track and better understand the different migrations of Slavic tribes in Europe.

it is not useless information

Travel / Ukraine - A New Destination of Vacation for Poles [27]

I'm pure 100% Ukrainian girl and very proud of this. We're the real Slaves

dziewuszka nataliya,

Western and Eastern Slavs are related because they share the
R1a1 which is a Y-chromosome haplogroup that is spread across Eurasia.

In Europe the highest frequencies of R1a1 are found in Central and Eastern Europe, it is found at its highest levels in Poland (60%), Hungary, (60%), Ukraine (54%) and Russia at 50%

All men who have now R1a1 are direct straight line descendants of that ancestor (R1a1 originator)

This means Poles, Hungarians, Ukranians and Russians all have the same ancestors.

Language / A Native American or a Native Pole: Who is better into which language? [116]

Just out of interest, how much is 4,000zl a month. I have not used Polish money for a long time. and I know that they have devalued and changed their money a few times since. I imagine that there are about six zloty to the pound now.

4,000.00 PLN = 716.827 GBP

1 GBP = 5.58014 PLN
