Love / Polish Wedding - Catholic Church Wedding Programme [5]

Nov 30, 09, 13:02 - Thread attached on merging:
Catholic Church Wedding In Poland

hi guys.

i am an oriental girl and my Polish husband and i are planning to get married in a catholic church somewhere in Gdansk. we already had our civil ceremony in Gdansk a few months back.

do any of you know what the regulations are for a catholic church wedding in Poland? is it true that we cannot book it immediately? somebody said that we need to wait for a year or something. i dont know what we need to wait for. the information was vague and it really irritated me. what about the marriage seminar? i heard that catholic churches in Poland require this before marriage. i perfectly understand that. but what if we reside in the UK and cannot afford to fly to Poland just for this (because obviously we've got jobs)? how can a Polish church here in the uk help? can they?

i hope somebody out there can shed light on this matter.

many thanks.

Food / Is there McDonalds, KFC, Pizza Hut etc in Poland? Food survey. [222]

My local shop (in a bit of Warsaw which is screaming for a supermarket) has a lot of vodka, beer too, a (very) good selection of wędliny and that's all.

i love the small shops/newsagents in gdansk. it's like a convenience store and a deli all in one! in my country, only posh people can buy stuff from a deli - for real.

Ideal for families! And they give out free toys and have ketchup taps!! What's not to like? Shame the food is shite.;(

LMAO.

I think in countries like Spain, Italy and Greece, the locals prefer to cook still and they probably have the best food in europe so why would they want to eat McD's its rotten.

good for them! they should completely ban fastfood chains.

Life / Are Polish traditions dissapearing [93]

If you are not Polish then surely you will dilute it?

thank you for your pm. that was really sweet. oh, and, btw, you do not have any proof at all that i will dilute it. still remains to be seen. i think people who sincerely say that they will look after it should be given a chance. ergo, you cannot declare me as guilty.

Have you ever been to a Polish zoo? (I havent been in zoos since a good number of years :D) What do you think about its conditions?

i love the gdansk zoo. it is so cool. and the landscape? beautiful.

And i am not in Polska, so therefore i cannot be diluting it. Unlike you.

Are you a politician? You answered my question with a question.

what if i am? what are you going to do about it? huh? you're totally losing it.

Food / Is there McDonalds, KFC, Pizza Hut etc in Poland? Food survey. [222]

I wish the 7-11 near my home in Warsaw would sell fewer pot noodles, prepacked ciasteczki, frozen chips (aarggh), processed Polish 'cheese' in foil wrappers (double aargh) and the dullest types of kielbasa etc.

sweetie, this is exactly what a 7-11 shop is - "probably" all over the world. candy bars, crisps, slush, steamed frankfurters / hotdog buns, fried food, preserved food, frozen food and instant food. see anything healthy? lmao

jonni is a food snob and krakuskkabanos is clearly mad!

is promoting good, healthy food so wrong? i absolutely doubt it - t.i.m.e m.e.a.n.s.

Me too. Believe it or not, McD's key European markets are Poland and, wait for it, France.

france? for real? how about italy? it would be really embarassing if they ever succeed in france.

UK, Ireland / Polish people are happy with the UK health care system [27]

GP surgeries only have so many appointments a day

gp surgery? or just a gp? isn't it that a general physician and a general surgeon are two different things? does this mean that you're putting your specialists in the front line? that's saddening.

Food / Is there McDonalds, KFC, Pizza Hut etc in Poland? Food survey. [222]

Are there 7-11's in Poland

no. because 7-11 shops are only for people who don't have a life.

Is there McDonalds, KFC, Pizza Hut etc in Poland?

it's amazing that these rubbish fastfood companies were able to penetrate poland. it's plain gunk. it's scum.

McDonalds have identified Poland as one of their key markets. They seem to be everywhere now.

unbelievable. i hate these companies already.

I guessing most Europeans have never had any authentic Mexican food so they wouldnt know how good it really is? Taco Bell is a far cry from the real thing.

proper restaurants are perfectly fine. but not fastfood. please.

How do you mean?

about 7-11? because it runs 24/7. no closing time.

Language / What is the most annoying thing about non-native Polish speakers? [90]

Although it really pisses me off when someone tries to impress me with his knowledge of polish language by only saying words like cheepa, hooy, koorva, sooka, etc.. Those are definitely not the most important words in Polish language. :/

i agree.

because it honestly does put a smile on our face and its cute.

my husband's telling me and his family too that my polish accent is cute and sweet. it's really encouraging... thank God.....

I would hope the Polish people would do anything to stop that. The West has no culture

i am gearing towards polish citizenship and i will surely help preserve your culture. i think it's beautiful no matter if it's a religious culture or not.....

west does not have a culture? oh yeah. definitely. i feel really sorry for them. they're just so proud of their tall buildings, massive houses and their huge cars.......

UK, Ireland / Prices for clothes....comparison of UK/Poland. [3]

generally, I find clothing more expensive in Poland than in UK.

for a formal white dress, it only cost me 50 pounds (went shopping at galeria baltycka). if i bought something similar in london, i would have to pay between 70 to 125 pounds.

News / Should rape carry a life sentence in Poland? [146]

Polish law rape isn't a serious enough crime to carry a life centence.

i dont believe in death sentence. that's way too easy. mental torture isn't.

Life / Question About Polish Attitudes Towards Non-Polish People: [23]

All I am asking is what is the overall feeling of Polish people towards other peoples?

tourists arent welcome. full stop. some poles seriously have an issue with customer service. they do not care if they dont smile at customers. somes poles are even so proud to admit that tourists should be able to speak polish and that they find it really annoying if they dont.

UK, Ireland / Polish people are happy with the UK health care system [27]

This is why the NHS is swamped.

blame your government. if you dont want them in your hospitals, then your government should've made that clear and drew the lines long way back. they should've passed a law in the past specifically saying that eastern europearns are not welcome in the uk hosptals. then these helpless people would already know before they even plan to fly here - that nhs does not want them.

oh but wait: no incentives = no skilled people = no skilled workforce.

how much it cost to keep a hospital clean?

yeah, they do love MRSA.

and with all the stories about the soldiers who came home from Iraq/Afghanistan, SHAME ON YOU NHS! SHAME ON YOU! HOW DARE YOU NEGLECT YOUR SOLDIERS!

and i get my teeth done privately in Poland, cheaper than nhs and much better service.

excellent! i'd like to do that too!

bringing their children who have a cold.

i think that you should not include sick children in this issue. children who are unwell should be checked by a doctor - immediately. you should never ever take risks. or hang on, maybe we should just wait until they're blue.

Law / The new Law in acquisation of Polish citizenship in 2009 [15]

I heard on the TV(TVP) that soon the polish government will soon pass a law that before anybody can apply for polish citizenship irrespective of any situation must pass a polish language test/examination..

i totally agree with this. i mean, my polish is not really good but this is the prerogative of the polish government. you want to be a polish national, you must embrace all of it. common sense - how can you be a polish national if you cant speak polish? so what if you've got a passport? is that all that you've got? i do not have the right to complain if they pass this law - and i will not. stop whingeing like a spoilt kid - get up and get on with your polish lessons!

and seriously, whoever made the "dual nationality" popular is a sicko. this concept absolutely destroys the principle of patriotism. you cannot serve two masters at the same time - never - and that's very basic. what if the countries that you are a national of just decide to start bombing each other and all nationals are required to enlist? what are you going to do? where would your loyalty lie? huh? ask your passports, maybe they can give you an answer. sheesh, JUST CHOOSE ONE FOR PETE'S SAKES!

wow, how can this ever be? the superpower country being bullied by poland? for real?

[quote=krysia]Oh no! How will Americans now get their Polish citizenship if they don't speak Polish fluently? Poland is discriminating against Americans! They treat Americans like second class citizens, like beggers, like they are worse than Polish citizens!

Love / Traditional wedding rings in Poland [11]

yeah, wearing the ring on the left is too western. besides, you swear with your right hand, not with your left.
