Life / DO ADULT CHILDREN EXPLOIT THEIR PARENTS IN POLAND? [22]

Which are, I guess obligatory

It is rather tricky. If the company you work for, offers pension funds to one person in the company, then they are oblied to offer it to the whole crew of employees. In case that your company does not have a pension-funds, you must arrange that yourself and pay it to a private pension-company, which are expensive.

Life / Scammed in Poland again [49]

It reminds me of when I lived in Amsterdam, there was an English fella, who had a suitcase in one hand and an old ticket in the other.
His story was that he got mugged and was too late for his train and needed just enough money to get a new ticket and he would of course send the money back to you.
Yeah, I saw that guy there everyday.

Whahaha i have met one other German guy, with the same story. Ilarious, but i didnt fall for it.

The best one was last week, in the other side of the street from my place, there was a group of british kids, with a paper card board stating: "We have been mugged, please help us get back home to the UK"

2 days later they were there again, with another paper card board saying: "we have not had beer for 2 days, please help us!

I had to laugh real hard!!

Life / Scammed in Poland again [49]

It is a pity because it messes it up for people who are genuinely in trouble.

Now people in problem does not do this, they always go to the police or embassy. I would say mostly these people are just scammers.

There are a few lads around juwenalia (students week) in Krakow, who have signs asking for money for beer.
Actually a lot of tourists I have met admire their honesty

Indeed! at least you know what they are up to. And let's be honest it's funny too..

Life / Retire in Poland - Good or Bad Idea? [74]

You sound like the sort of typical British whinger who can't appreciate the good things about the UK,so you go overseas and continue whinging because you can't appreciate any good things in your new country.

Really? i have never heard a whining brit up till now.

The price has to go to the following nationalities:

-Americans
-Spanish
-Italians
-Polish
-Greeks
-Russians

Life / Retire in Poland - Good or Bad Idea? [74]

Well that was my opinion on my own knowledge. I had some American collegues/acquaintances in some countries i worked/studied before, and man they sure were whining about how everything was not as it was done in the US. That was tiring!

But i have to change my list and put the Spanish first, we have a lot of them here, some are friends of mine, but they are always whining, why is amsterdam so expensive, why are house so small, why the streets are too crowded, spanish foods is the greatest, why this, why that...man!! sometimes i feel like tshhh!

And so on and so on!

Love / Broken Heart, An amazing girl from Poland [139]

I would appreciate any help or advice.

Wow, ****** up situation! would hate it to be in your shoes. There is nothing worse than having a crush on someone and then this someone leaves. It is worse cause you do not have the chance to get over it, or fall in love completly, You are left in the middle.

Just get out there dude, have some fun and try new things just to keep yourself busy, it helps.

Good luck!

Life / Scientology in Poland [24]

Anything is more believable than that scientology bullsh*t. I cannot believe that some people would fall for it, their doctrine is retarded AND besides the fact that the founder of this "sect" was taken to court in the USA, because somebody revealed his statements about this sect:

"There is no easier way to get richt than by begining a religion"

Any doubts still?

Life / Communion, why do only half of church-goers in Poland take it? [41]

Devout Catholics simply know the procedures better and that's largely what places them apart.

But those are now few in Europe. Catholicism is dying.

Do all Christians religions partake in the sacrament of communion or is it only Catholics. I mean does Church of England, Methodist, Baptist etc receive communion on a regular basis?

Many do many dont, The mormons for example, take it every sunday unless they have sinned badly during the week. Same with evangelists.

I went to a Roman Catholic school...we understand a little bit more than you give us credit for sweety

Yeah, that's why we see in this forum, the lovely way that you communicate with others, from different opinions or different races. We see the love that you spread.

haha Hipocrite.

Life / Polish speed cameras [37]

The UK has been repressed by health and safety, the PC culture, I am a caged bird been set free......I think I will get on my bike and peddle the wrong way up the expressway.

What a load of crap! dude what are you 15? are you gonna say the same to the judge when you kill a person?

It's not about being caged its about being MATURE, to respect the life of others which whether you want it or not, are at some point in your hands.

Irresponsible kid.

Life / Polish speed cameras [37]

are you an American? With all the health and safety, Hi Vis and speed cameras in Blighty people still get killed or injured on the motorways

Because they ignore the security regulations! driven drunk, gaining on the wrong side of the lane, speeding up/down, etc.

Anyway Mistic Meg when do I meet the judge, I am accident free all my driving life and I am looking to keep it that whatever Poland throws at me, so my driving style has changed to suit the conditions I now drive in and I do like it

Give it time, irresponsability always leads to dissaster.

the Poles are cuddley kittens compared to Dutch trying to get home.

What a load of....., the number of casualties by traffic accidents in the netherlands are far behind those of the UK or Poland, FAAAR behind.

If I drove here in an English styleee, I reckon I would be danger to the locals with my pottering along looking for potential picnic spots and tutting at all wrong doing, so I do choose to blend in. You walk out my door and most people if transport allows are doing 20 - 30 clicks above the limit in our village, the man with the clipboard is not here for me, so adapt and survive.

That's why driving is still crappy in Poland, it's easier to go with the flow than put your foot down and give an example.

Life / Polish speed cameras [37]

I think the Western ideals about performance, being really good at something is the problem

Again it is not about being political correct (which by the way its not wrong) but it is about respecting the regulations which are given to prevent accidents.

That's all!!!

Life / Polish speed cameras [37]

One example: if you drive the speed limit here you'll have nutters over taking you left right and centre your chance of an accident instantly increases by about 90%.

This might be true, but this guy talks like he enjoys all of the danger he is deliveratly causing, that's madness!!

I know i have been there, but we cannot just go with the flow, adapt a bit is fine but to become a road-terminator is just not right. Many lives are at stake.

Oh well....

Life / Scientology in Poland [24]

Yes you do but to what degree is it present in your modern culture?

It craks me up how eastern-europeans catalogue everything that comes from the west as shallow or superficial. We are not, or if we are is at the same dregree as eastern-europeans. We 've got the same desires you've got ( health,a nice house, a car, money to spend, a good job,etc etc) the difference is that the majority in the west is able to afford it, that does not make us shallow. If you were sooooo spiritual and pure you would not come to the west in herds to make better money and afford your bmw, right?

some of them are decent people.

Decent but stupid :P

Life / Poland's westernization [44]

It's been 20 years since the iron curtain fell, all of the eastern countries were open to the world and offcourse a clash of cultures happened.

You hear often polish or eastern europeans saying that the west is shallow, superficial, etc etc. But to be honest, those characteristics are not alien to the Polish communy, in fact they even go extreme on those.

What are your thoughts? does Poland hates the western culture even though they use it and adapt it to themselves? Or is it just a double faced statement and its fashionable to hate the western culture?

Please comment. I'm puzzled.

Life / Poland's westernization [44]

Mvefa, please define your conception of westernization. That'll get the discussion properly started.

You know in general culture, like the way the west, thinks, act, dress, perform, our habits, etc etc

MG
That's not polish only, i have seen a lot of that in mediterranean countries, like in Spain: play station: pleysteishon
freaky:friky..

or like italians

Life / Poland's westernization [44]

Damn it i cannot type much, busy at work.

There might be not common political views between england and Holland, but there some common grounds like in Human rights, inmigration policies, rights of women, etc. which to some countries of the east block was asked to join the EU, before that they did not have them.

Life / Poland's westernization [44]

Its not about hating it, but trashing it! like with comments of how shallow it is, how superficial, how consumist, and bla bla...My point being that every culture has this characteristics, but some can afford it, some cannot. does that make us worse?
