History / Russia: Poland responsible for WW II [300]

Says who?

Says Poland because they still need the money. Why not let them build a better ecomony first?

UK, Ireland / England, Dirty, Expensive and a dangerous place to live? [205]

I'm sure it's a fabulous place to live if you have tons of money since it's a world class capitol that nearly everyone loves. If you are filthy rich London would be a good choice. It's only a cesspool if you are poor.

Hmm being filthy rich doesnt protect you from being mugged or knifed, in fact it makes you more of a target.

If I were rich and in London I bet I could figure out ways to protect myself. With money all things are made possible.

It didn't work out to "grab" your neighbors and now you're pi**ed off.

huh? Yugoslavia at one time was one country. IMO none of this bs would have happened if Yugoslavia would have stayed a united country like it was before.

I didn't say the Bushes founded the Nazis at all.

Sean that is the most ridiculous thing I ever heard. Why would someone think you said Bush founded the nazis?

If you don't believe George W Bush knew about 9/11, you are a fool of the highest order.

He did not know about 9/11, Sean. The FBI were on the trail of Atta et al but they were about 100 steps behind. That doesn't mean they knew about it. It means they didn't have what was needed in place to stop it. The FBI were asking about some of the hijackers before 9/11, namely Zacarias Moussaoui, but they didn't have enough info to act because we had laws in place protecting civil liberties.

Now what does 9/11 have to do with Russia accusing Poland of being responsible for WWII?

US which invades oil rich countries on ********* reason,

We don't invade oil rich countries on a whim. The only one we invaded was Iraq. Afghanistan doesn't have much oil, if any. They have opium poppies.

Well...now it seems it was only Tito's iron fist which did held the many different people together (kind of like the soviet empire).

But the thing is, BB, it cannot be compared to the Soviets because the provinces are too small. The SU was much bigger.
Something as small as Yugoslavia could have stayed together like it did under Tito.

Life / Thunderstorms in Poland [44]

Thunderstorms are nice when they aren't very strong. When the winds get to be about 250 mph they aint so great then.

News / The Polish-Hungarian friendship is as well as poisoned [45]

If no one in Poland can understand hebrew then what does it matter what they say about Hungary? No one can understand it anyway so they aint gonna know the relationship is being poisoned.

If no one can understand it in Poland how is this poisoning the relationship?

History / "Our Forgotten Allies" - Polish-American relations. [52]

Why would you say a thing like that?

Only because it seems like you are trying to provoke Sokrates. If that isn't the case, my apologies. There's a good reason we give aid to Israel. It's because they are under constant threat. Their survival is at stake. This is why the US gives them support.

What is this reason? What kind of support has Israel ever offered you? How did America benefited from the alliance?

Many Israelis have dual citizenships. They are Americans too so they contribute to our country by paying taxes and working.

How many Israelis pay taxes in US? A hundred thousand?

They contribute a lot to the economy. American jews have earning power. We support Israel because we want jews to have a homeland and prominent jews in the US have a lot of influence, own corporations and pay the big bucks to the tax man. They lobby the government.

They don't make our country less secure. We are relatively secure right now and are working on our Arab relations. We are headed in the right direction with the Arabs. I think Obama can reach out and make a lot of progress with them.

Okay, instead

we = american government but not me personally.

I just observe what's going on but I do agree that without the US government Israel would be doomed so I can see why the govt supports them by giving them $$$

I'm going to be cynical here, what do you as a country lose if Israel is doomed?

Sokrates, what is it that you personally want to see happen? Do you want all the Israelis except for the American ones (who would flee to the US if this were to happen) get into another war with Arabia with a lot of death and destruction on both sides? 9/11 and Operation Cast Lead were both bad but it could be and can get much worse. Is that what you want to see happen?

the majority of Israelis would most probably move to the USA.

I don't know if the majority would. The American Israelis, yes, but I don't know how many are from other parts of the world.

Israel isn't going away anytime soon anyway. It's time for everyone to join their hands and think about ways to get along with each other :) :) :) :)

History / Poland before WWII or Poland now what would you choose? [390]

Just show me Polish word on any coin from Free City of Danzig, you can't.

If you are going to use this logic, you know, you better be prepared for the US to give a lot of land back to Mexico or at least quit complaining about illegal immigration because the Mexicans use this same argument which is why they think they have a right to move here.

show where I complained about illegal Mexaicans on this forum, just for the hell of it :-)

If you are going to give places to people based on this line of reasoning US would lose a lot of land.

In fact, just about everyone on earth would lose their land and we wouldn't have anyplace to live then, would we. We would all be screwed. This is just BS you cannot use this line of reasoning to decide what is happening today. You got to forget all this because it's irrelevant.

We need to stop obsessing on what was yesterday and focus on what is today :))))))

What's done is done!!!

freebird
I'm sure there's a few exceptions where they got along but generally there's strife between ethnic groups who are all competing for the same resources so this phenomena is hardly unusual.

When Stefan sweared in all of existing rights of Prussia Royale and Prussia Ducale,[9] and was recognized as a rightful ruler,[10] one city—Danzig—refused to do it and was still respecting Maximillian as King of Poland.[11]

Danzig refused to recognize Bathory's authority, and the tensions grew as rioters looted and burned down an abbey in Oliwa.[7]

News / Does Poland count in Europe or is it ignored? [428]

Poland will appoint seven generals to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. One of them will be deployed in the NATO headquarters in Norfolk, USA.

Glad to have him on board :)
