UK, Ireland / Legally changing my Polish name [28]

I fully agree that you should not change your name. Just carry a block of 4 by 2 timber around with you and every time one of us dumbo Brits mispronounces your name just give us a wack around the head. We will soon learn the correct pronunciation;)

Keep the name please

History / Matters of Propaganda...Or: how was the West portrayed in Poland? [150]

My mates were selling bits of the wall across the road to people as "a piece of historically importance" and "it will get more valuable with age".

I might have been one of the suckers;)

I have bits of the Berlin Wall in my patio amongst the York Stone.

UK, Ireland / Sad life of a Polish immigrant in the UK. Ch. 2 - Stress [63]

Christmas actually means something in Poland. In the UK it's just an excuse to drink and shop.

True.... but so is March 10th, April 13th, August 5th and all other days except January1st when your New Year's resolution is to give up drinking and shopping;)

Edit - scratch my wife from January 1st (shopping I meant, it's a compulsive shoes disorder you see)

Life / Pre Paid Visa cards [27]

You cant use a debit card in many hotels, car rental agencies, cruise ships for your incidentals/reservations

Really? I've been very lucky then. Never had a Visa debit card refused anywhere in the world. Now Maestro was a different problem!

Life / Pre Paid Visa cards [27]

So what's different between a pre-paid credit card and a debit card. In both cases you need a balnce before you can spend. Am i missing something here

UK, Ireland / Moving to england from Poland? I'm making a documentary [23]

Poland is pretty and in fact england is the worst place if anywhere and that's what I'm trying to show.

Do you mean England is worse than Poland (if so in which respects) or the worse place in the whole wide world (if so then I'd better move out quickly)

Love / Are Polish girls charity workers? [132]

I see. Do they have an online payments system. I would like to donate a couple of quid to help them out. May not help in the leg over stakes but a Lech or two to numb the disappointment.....

Love / Are Polish girls charity workers? [132]

Alex seems like another bitter middle aged man on this forum...hmmm...He probably hasnt managed to get any in all the years he's been in Poland either!

So the charity in question is Help the Aged then?

UK, Ireland / What are Polish Peoples Views of a Re-United Ireland [80]

Bloody hell, a Celtic Tiger. I thought the recession had killed them all off;)

Back on topic I asked the Boss what she thought of the question posed here, her being Polish. Her response was quite interesting. To summarise she agrees with most level headed people that the split should never had happened and that Ireland should be one country. However, since most of the inhabitants of the North want to remain in Britain her opinion is that you need to form a majority opinion in the North towards unification. If they said Yes I'm sure Britain would agree. Now since most of the Ulstermen don't remotely want thatto happen her solution is to breed more supporters. So her advice to you is go forth and multiply.

Tell I said to fook off home

Home has been the UK for a long long time, but I'll pass your kind regards on.

take her oar out of Irish affairs

So why ask for Polish opinions in the first place?

Love / Poland reverse of fortune in dating [124]

Ha. This theory that began this thread may explain why I have never been molested or generally jumped upon in Poland. I'm just too handsome, suave, sophisticated and in possession of all body parts.
