Food / POLISH BEER COOKERY? [12]

Since beer was once not regarded as alcohol in Poland, beer-based soups were often served during Lent.

Love / Need advice with Polish girl, I like her but she has a boyfriend. [114]

some people sleep around, some don't. THose who claim they don't probably wish they did, or sleep around but don't think they do:). It you are able to untangle this train of thinking, you will get an extra point;). The truth is that those who do have much more to worry about later, then those who don't, so please stop preaching ;)

UK, Ireland / Scotland encouraging immigration. [90]

Demographics suggest that with an ageing population, Scotland needs to attract workers to earn the revenue which will fund the social infrastructure.

that has been done before in other countries and there are mixed feeling about this kind of solution. I am neither against it, nor for it since it is a quick way of solving problems related to decreasing and aging population. It is a short term solution if not carried with a plan.

so you are talking about remote/isolated areas then. Interesting. The reason I am asking because I do have a friend who is already there, so I maybe able to give him some tips. As far as I know he is staying in Scottland and he loves it.

UK, Ireland / UK HATRED TOWARDS POLES GROWING? [122]

I think alot of it is total bollocks to be honest. Where I live the Polish are quite accepted in the local pubs / clubs /community etc. We have problems with the ******* and paki's but not the Polish.

so you are a selective racist then LOL

bankers

yes, I would worry about those more these days:).

I don't know if the anti-Polish sentiments are on the rise, but it is possible that in the difficult economic times they are more pronounced. It would be good to see the comments of people who actually live in the UK at present.

LOL no one likes a greedy racist

that is another thread all together;)

UK, Ireland / UK HATRED TOWARDS POLES GROWING? [122]

well i live in the UK and i stand by my original post, while Poles may recieve grief, it does not centre around their nationality, its just because they are a part of a group 'immigrants' and are in the firing line along with the rest.

sorry, I meant the Poles who presently reside in the UK.

but this century a person whose skin is not white is more likely to be the victim of racist crime in Poland than in Germany, France, Austria or the UK.

you migh tbe right, but without backing it up with some statistics, you have no case but a claim.

Also, you have forgotten to mention the reasons for less racist attitudes in those Western countries. Perhaps forgot to mention that there migh tbe different forms of racism in Western countries, which are more covert.

Racism is a negative characteristic of any nationality, but I believe that every nationality has a history of it and racism is NOT exclusive to Polish people. It is inclusive to all nationalities/ethnic groups etc.

Also, comparing Western countries to new democracy in Poland is a lost battle in your agrument. Those 2 different political, social, ethnic, demografic societies cannot be compared.

I think that since you care so much about racism in Poland I would be interested to find out if you also have some suggestions how this can be changed, so Poland will benefit by being more open (that is of course if there are not) to other races.

UK, Ireland / UK HATRED TOWARDS POLES GROWING? [122]

I've never claimed that it is exclusive to Polish people.

I know you did not, but without the statistics I was allowed to speculate:).

But nice try with building a straw man to attack.

I was not trying to build anything here. Unlike many people here, I know that you are one of the more objective posters.

What I have stated and continue to state is that Poland has a problem with racism and that racism is far more widespread than in any country I have lived in (with the exception of Kuwait).

no wI see it in a perspective

Neither political, social, ethnic nor demographic factors excuse racism.

no, but it should not be disregarded. If low level of education is a reason for less tolerance, or lack of exposure could influence how other ethnicities are viewed then, I would disagree with you. I am not interested in excuses, but causes.

That's the $64,000 dollar question.

I agree.

although banning Radio Maryja would doubtless be a good starting point).

I wonder if Radio Maryja is a cause or effect of racism in Poland amongst other things.

Thanks for the link.

Australia / "A team will respond to any anti-Polish comments or acts." [16]

funny you have mentioned it:

Here is an article from Rzepospolita (balanced in my related to that topic - in Polish)

In the western elite circles meet anti-Polonism ideological . We find it in the German media and the American elite universities , in numerous publications historians and political scientists as well as on the websites - social philosopher writes

Is there really anti-Polonism ? Nobody denies that there are prejudices against Poles that in some countries, are widespread negative stereotypes about us . In the end, everyone has heard about the " polish jokes " in the United States or unpleasant incidents in the UK or Germany.

But talking about antypolonizmie many of us it seems like overkill . Fact suggests that we are not dealing with the deplorable accidental occurrences , but with a constant attitude or even ideology. You can at the same time observe a pattern - the one is more willing to take on the prejudices of Poles towards the other , the more fervently condemns them , the more downplays prejudices against Poles and other acts of anti-Polish discrimination.

Love / What are your views (or Polish views) on abortion? [102]

there we go again, a bunch of men who are so informed about the difficulties of getting an abortion in Poland.

It is mostly an issue for a woman not for men to even voice any opinion about abortion and make a judgement about it. I am sure that there are a lot of women who are just suffering and are stressed out over it and since there are no services available in Poland they often to outside of the country to have an abortion.

News / Rydzyk gets away with racism yet again [198]

I think Joe that you have lost your perspective on things.

Rydzyk has NOTHING to do with your hood.

He has been very controversial, so has been Palikot, who is suing him. The involvement of Palikot adds another dimension to the whole incident. It is a single incident, not a diversity issue in Poland. There is no diversity in Poland the way there is in the US because the ethnic make up is different in those 2 countries.

I don't know why I am even explaining something to you, which is for most people very obvious and clear.

News / Rydzyk gets away with racism yet again [198]

Well thanks for taking the time to explain logical concepts to a peon...

well, I was hoping that it would be useful in this case:).

However, I was just elaborating on a larger problem of liberal/politically correct hypocricy.

no, you were getting off topic really.

.I find Rydszyk refreshing.

some people do, I personally don't but I am not trying to convince you to think my way. The closest he is to the American model would be w leaders of one of the Mega churches. I am not sure you still find him refreshing now:).

Beer on a hot day is refreshing, Rydzyk is a shrew businessman.

I guess this is matter of individual preferences.

you got that right. Please skip the judgement, since it is you who is having problems with painting people in B&W colours. Unless you cannot help yourself:)

News / Rydzyk gets away with racism yet again [198]

He doesn't had bad intentions.

and how do you know about his intentions? Are you close to him> Are you his rep?

Simply Father Rydzyk rarely make any sense (very poor speaker)

that is closer to the truth, well, almost:).

He is a great manager and that is mostly why many people hate him. Envy!

he is, but is not a good Catholic monk. I don't think envy is the problem here.

haven't seen that part of the script, but I still don't find it likely that he would so try to offend a (fellow) missionary.

he did.FAct. He got away with it. Fact.
