Life / BEING POLISH MEANS....? [18]

It means praying on a Rosary, honoring the Saint Virgin Mary - the Queen of Poland
and Her Son - Jesus Christ Our Lord.

That means Jesus Christ is Duke of Poland? Every time you learn something.

History / Responsibility for Murder of Catholic Poles during WWII ? [172]

you are very touchy MG but that could be easy understandable, you have been brought up in Netherlands, country with completely different history and particularly history of Jewish people, not Poland. You come from the country of Benedict Spinoza not of some cadik of Pinczow country and thats the consequences.

History / Responsibility for Murder of Catholic Poles during WWII ? [172]

I was talking in general throughout time. As we have seen from the quotes from Israel Shahak, Judaism is not exactly friendly toward non-Jews

not whole Judaism but Talmudic Judaism

cite form Shahak bio from wiki

According to Shahak Talmudic Judaism is a totalitarian religion where rabbinical law governs every aspect of Jewish behaviour.[20] Shahak's approach to the subject draws on both Karl Popper's concept of a closed society, his analysis of totalitarian thought-patterns in Plato's thought, and also on Moses Hadas's suggestion of a Platonic influence on rabbinical thought.[21] He views Jewish chauvinism and religious fanaticism as grounded in this theological tradition. For Shahak, the religious roots of this 'Jewish ideology' had two important consequences:

* Attempts by Western analysts to explain contemporary Israeli politics in purely secular terms such as imperialism are fundamentally flawed.
* More controversially, that 'Jewish chauvinism' can be a causal factor in antisemitism, and that both must be fought simultaneously.

Shahak also analyses the period from the beginning of the last millennium (CE) to the advent of the modern state when most Jews lived under rabbinical law in segregated communities. These communities, writes Shahak, were under the patronage of non-Jewish nobles who typically used them to enforce their authority on a non-Jewish peasant class. Rebellions by such peasants in which all feudal agents were attacked, Shahak argues, have wrongly been perceived as anti-Jewish persecutions. Consequently, he calls for significant parts of Jewish history to be re-evaluated from a universal perspective.

History / Responsibility for Murder of Catholic Poles during WWII ? [172]

We talk here about Jews of West end East like they were the same people. What is main difference between them? focus on the fact the Jews have problem with integration with host country for centuries but something happen sharply after era of enlightenment( Jews had its own version or rather offspring - Haskala ) and as a result changed completely European and North American Jewry. Jews of that time and particularly in German Empire, Austro-Hungarian Empire, Britain and Netherlands start to focus on completely different things however Jews of part of ex Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth taken by Russian Empire stuck up ( cos of lack of proper university s )and turn to extreme form of Judaism based only on written low of Torah and most important on broad use of Talmud (which was basically a commentary of Torah for Jewish people how to live among other nations in that time ( Babylonian or Roman times - so completely different time) but again - a commentary.

So heavily focusing on Talmud and in reaction to lacking of access to proper education majority of eastern Jews turned to kabbalah things - western folks enjoyed in that time completely different live.

So West Jews- Reformist Jews, East Jews - orthodox Jews. They are like different species.

News / JEW YOUTH SHOULD CLEAN UP THEIR ACT IN POLAND [420]

Until we describe or find out what kind of young Jews made rasist remarks or left mess in hotels, the thread is pointless. Jews are not one strong tied up group, but they have orthodox, reformists and others denominations or can be nonbelievers so can behave differently.

Life / How do Polish people view themselves? [92]

They regard themselves superior to Russians and most non-European country's!

so they feel superior to non Europeans ( Africans, Arabs, or Australian aborigines ) but inferior to rest of 'better' Europe?
nice one :) :) :)

Life / Are there any neutral or positive stereotypes of poles? [40]

What about to be a blue collars? are these stereotypes positive negative or neutral?
Judging by characters played in The Wire ( already famous American television drama series) Poles or rather Polish Americans work in docks - menial jobs, Jews are lawyers, blacks are drug dealers or cops, but hey who wrote the script.

UK, Ireland / Who can keep right to speak its own language in UK [22]

Oct 21, 09, 23:33 - Thread attached on merging:
Who sent this to off topic? Who can keep right to speak its own language in UK

are mods Brits?

good question :)
recently I was watching BBC program about Welsh and other one about history of black people in UK
I got an impression that everybody who have a right to live here can speak English and can keep native language as well. Welsh have a right to speak its own language cos they are from Britain, Indians can speak Punjabi, Pakistanis and Bangladeshi can communicate in theirs languages as well cos they are part of old good Commonwealth, Africans can keep their Nigerian languages cos they are ex slave country which English impose on them long time ago and so on.

But ... if we can not get one language alike lingua franca we wont be able to communicate or maybe that would stir a racial/culture conflicts. I am a bit confused.

Poles are completely off that English history stuff, we are the first offspring of EU new regulations with lesser incomes that's we migrate here. Some of us are a part of good old 2nd Polish Republic who fought during WW2, but not too many of them compare to a new wave after 2004.

Any thought on the subject?

ps
mods , give me a short explanation why this thread is not conected to polish case?
What I am trying to do is to point a problem , which Poles have to take for consideration when they live in UK and try to fit in

If this thread becomes about the Polish language in the UK it will be moved back, currently it's about every other language and not Polish.

good question :)

UK, Ireland / What is good about being in the UK? [140]

derek trotter:
and.....there are virtually no Poles from UK/IRL here
any clues why?

I think the fact that we're not allowed to post in Polish may have something to do with it; this is not an issue on proper Polish forums of course.

is this your answer? 200000 ( or who the hell know the numbers ) Poles in UK, nearly no any of them here? are they deaf or what?
