Life / Wondering about opening a savings account in Poland [8]

You shouldn't have any problems - there are both online and offline banks you could use. I cannot recommend anything, but just try to check this page that lists most of Polish banks: skarbiec.biz/banki/

Real Estate / Where to look for a flat in Warsaw [4]

You can start online - type in "mieszkanie w warszawie" or "apartament warszawa" in a search engine. Or post your requirements here.

Work / How to get Polish Electrician's license? [3]

I haven't heard about any equivalent test - I doubt it exists in Poland. I'm not even sure if an electrician has to have any special permit to do the job (in official constructions it probably has, but in private or small business maybe not).

Real Estate / Interesting Article on Polish Real Estate [33]

Maybe it will not affect as much, but I don't agree that "Poland's Real Estate market is still in its infancy". Does it mean that when it's in a mature age, the price per square meter would be three as much as in the US?

USA, Canada / Dear American Poles, look how much Brits make in Poland [28]

Life in Poland is much expensive than in the US - so $5 or so more won't make a difference. If it was more like $35-40 an hour it would be sensible. But then - who needs more teachers in Poland? Every second English-speaking foreigner to Poland hopes to find a job as a teacher. This could only make the salary lower in the long run. Not to mention that now you need to have a formal degree to be a teacher in Poland.

USA, Canada / Poles in Northern New Jersey [4]

What do these "Polish childrent dance companies" do. You mean to learn Polish dances?

Travel / Ticket controllers in public transportation vehicles in Poland [24]

But she's writing from a tourist-point of view, isn't she. It's not a Polish-style "welcoming" tradition to fine passengers without tickets. They should not allow to enter the vehicle without a ticket and there wouldn't be any problems. Why don't we have ticket controllers in planes?

Life / Racist violence in Poland [172]

I'm still thinking of getting a gun, if thats possible, legally.

That won't help you; Poland is not the US where people have guns in the hope to be protected. In Warsaw there are more international people and you will be fine.

Life / Points on Polish driving licenses [8]

That's correct - even though driver license could be suspended with either 20 or 24 points (20 points - for drivers who had over 20 points within the first year of getting the license). Here is a full description of Polish driver license points of requirements (in Polish). The points are cleared every 12 months.

During F1 races there may be quite a few of them.

Life / Local Poles taking advantage of foreigners living in Poland [235]

I think it's not only you - it could be experienced even by a Polish person who visits Poland from time to time. Having lived in the US for quite a while people recognize I'm not from Poland (my accent or clothes may suggest that) and then it feels I'm not one of them and may want to be taken advantage of. But I got used to it - you should do the same in the long run if you don't want to be miserable in Poland all the time.

Real Estate / Renting Apartments in Warsaw. . . [8]

Stay away from the center :). Expect to get an apartment in a "blok" (a group of 4-8 store apartment buildings). Renting - I guess about 1400 PLN per month, but it depends.
