tetley 2 | 3 13 Jan 2008 / #1Reading about The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity which is in its 16th year and seems to be like Children in Need in the UK made me wonder just how widespread is the support for the charity from Poles living in the UK.the story was in the leicester mercury yesterday and on leicesterview.co.ukHas anyone else come across its work or made a donation?
hello 22 | 891 13 Jan 2008 / #2They are in the USA too (Chicago an NY mostly) playing today in Copernicus Center, for example.
OP tetley 2 | 3 13 Jan 2008 / #4Amazing, I read the comments about Poles around the globe being involved and wondered if it was just hype. Clearly not, and the acheivements in the past 16 years according to the articles is very impressive. its a shame its not been given any publicity over here apart from what I read in the paper and on leicesterview.According to the news it looks like they raised £6.5 million :) on Sunday which should rise by 30-40% by February based on previous years results.
miranda 15 Jan 2008 / #5Has anyone else come across its work or made a donation?no, I don't want to pay for another pair of stylish glasses of Mr Owsiak.
miranda 16 Jan 2008 / #7If you say so. I personally think that charity begins at home and I do my own share of it whenever I can. For me spending money on publicity and fireworks is money wasted. There are some charity organization which don't seek publicity and spend their money on helping people. So not only WOSP but many organizations waste money in my opinion. I am just being practical.
