News / America: Take your missile base and shove it! [116]

Remember it was Poland that asked for our help, now it's a matter of how much help we can give.

Cel.. I am not familiar with the politics in this matter.. You are probably right.. I don't know..

But!, With out a doubt.. The first strike will be on the missile bases... You know that we have a saying here in America..

NOT IN MY BACK YARD. So why should Poland or anyone else be at risk because of those IDIOTS that we chose as our leaders.

The approval rating for our congress is down to 9%.. The American are getting pi***d off.

I am an American, and I cant help but agree with the Poles.
Why should Poland be subject to the first initial strike. We have ICBM's.. Why do we need more bases?.. Nonsense.

VOTE NO POLAND

I poszli szaleni, zażarci,
I poszli zabijać i mścić,
I poszli jak zawsze uparci,
Jak zawsze za honor się bić.

History / Operation Market Garden, what went wrong? [68]

Wildrover;
It was not a bridge too far.. A crack British unit reached the bridge and fought valiantly to hold it.. The objective was reached. .But the promised reinforcements never came..One does not fight King Tiger tanks with Enfield rifles.

Yes , there was sufficient information concerning the German strength but it was ignored..

Later on in December 16th 1944.. The Germans attacked into Belgium through the Ardennes.. The Battle of the Bulge.. Hitler named it the Watch On The Rhine.

Here too there was sufficient evidence to warn the Allies. There were reports from civilians telling of the massive German build up. American patrol noticed that the snow in germany was mashed down.. Indicating heavy traffic.

This was all ignored. By whom?? The American High Command.
You

all know the rest of the story.

Isthatu2, Do you think that you can handle this one???

They were met by German crack divisions regrouping. It was no trap..It was bad intelligence.. The bridge at nijmagan was attacked by the British.. With just a little bit of help, they could have taken the bridge.. They fought and died like real heroes.. But no reinforcements.. British and Poles and Americans reached their goals... But No reinforcements.. WHY??

The British Armor had no orders to advance.. JESUS CHRIST.. It was Caen all over again

This was to be the largest Airborne operation in history.. The plan was to drop three full airborne divisions behind German lines and to be reinforced by the British Armored cops.

The 101`st Polish Parachute brigade, The 101st, the 82nd, and the british1st airbore ,suceeded in their mission.

You guys are getting ahead of ourselves.. Back off for a minute..

WHY OPERATION MARKET?

The war was really going good for the Allies.. The Germans were on the run.
Monty dreamed up a plan to end the war by Xmas. He was just promoted to field Marshall. He demanded the whole northern Army to be put under his control.. He wanted to advance across Holland, crossing the Rhine.

Sheaf disagreed.. They though that it was better to attack on two fronts.. Monty up north and the other into the Industrial Rhur valley..
Monty insisted.. To keep peace amongst the Allies SHEAF consented to his request..

OK now I have my S*** together.. Lets go for it..

News / Poland: the 51st state of America [119]

American is an American citizen of Polish descent. There are an estimated 10 million Americans of Polish descent.

More than one million Poles immigrated to the United States, primarily during the late 19th and early 20th century. Exact immigration numbers are unknown because, due to the partitions of Poland, the Polish state did not exist at a time when the precursor to the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service classified immigrants according to country of origin rather than to ethnicity. In particular, the three partitions gave rise to the terms Russian, German, and Austrian Poles, Polish Germans, respectively, as seen in the context of Polish immigration to the United States. According the United States 2000 Census, 667,414 Americans of age 5 years and older reported Polish as the language spoken at home, which is about 1.4% of people who speak languages other than English, or 0.25% of the U.S. population.

Language / Looking to identify a Polish Folk/Pub Song [3]

Siwy kon, siwy kon malowane sanki

Pojechal, pojechal do swojej kochanki.

Pojechal, zajechal, ona go czekala

Gdy go zabaczyla, buziaka mu dala.

Buziaka mud ala, do ucha szeptala

Zostaj zemna jasiu, bede cie kochala.

Nikt nie wie, nikt nie wie, nikt nie bedzie wiedzial

Za co Jas kochany, we wiezieniu siedzial.

Grey Horse, grey horse, painted sleigh
He went, he went to his lover.
He went, he arrived, she waited for him
When she saw him, she gave him a kiss.
She gave him a kiss, whispered in his ear
Stay with me Jash, I will love you.
Nobody knows, nobody knows, nobody will know
Why beloved Jash, sat in prison.

Food / Are the Jewish Delicatessens in Europe that serve Corned Beef sandwiches [5]

In most big cities, in the North East and some of other large cities in America we have many of these places. You then reach into a wooden barrel and get a Kosher pickle or Sauerkraut You can expect to pay about 8 to 10 bucks for one including a beverage.
