Hello, I grew up with wonderful Polish culture (adopted), but do not speak/understand the language (very well).
When I was a little girl, my Polish grandpa sang to me and it may have been a 'pub' song. Both he and my mother are gone now and no one seems to remember the song. Hopefully, some will recognize it.
I will try and do it phonetically, and apologize in advance...
Chivvy coin, chivvy coin, malu balu sanke, poy ya ha, poy ya ha, ona yas chohonki
Che ya ha, che ya ha...
Thanks,
Siwy kon, siwy kon malowane sanki
Pojechal, pojechal do swojej kochanki.
Pojechal, zajechal, ona go czekala
Gdy go zabaczyla, buziaka mu dala.
Buziaka mud ala, do ucha szeptala
Zostaj zemna jasiu, bede cie kochala.
Nikt nie wie, nikt nie wie, nikt nie bedzie wiedzial
Za co Jas kochany, we wiezieniu siedzial.
Grey Horse, grey horse, painted sleigh
He went, he went to his lover.
He went, he arrived, she waited for him
When she saw him, she gave him a kiss.
She gave him a kiss, whispered in his ear
Stay with me Jash, I will love you.
Nobody knows, nobody knows, nobody will know
Why beloved Jash, sat in prison.
