USA, Canada / The things Polish people do in the US [46]

2) Pronounce Walmart as "Walmark" with their accents.

Heheheheheh, this is hilarious (I've seen a case of this) :))))

Love / The Polish girl i love has gone back to Poland . [65]

You must also remember that they are like animals trapped in a cage for the last fifty years. Now they have their freedom but do not understand that capitalism too has its price to pay. Polish girls coming from the countryside have little money and therefore they have little to loose themselves so do not care much for other's broken hearts. The Dutchman will end up selling his house, the girl only her body!

Spoken like a true mysogynist! Unbelievable how little respect you have for those women, it's repelling. Especially that no women could beat MEN in being more slutty and double faced in terms of sexual morals. I'm only using a generalization for men here because women are generalized by Michal, I obviously don't think that men are all the same.

Travel / How really cheap is in Poland? [37]

Good question! The American dollar is not doing nearly as well as the Euro or British Pound, but I know it is better than the Polish zloty......whilst in London, I know it is going to be very expensive to buy clothes and such, but how about in Poland? Are clothes relatively the same price wise or are they much cheaper in Poland?

Last summer I went to H&M in Poznan with a friend from Germany. She said that the prices were much lower in Poland for the exact same products.

Love / Polish Men and their attitude towards sex and relationships [60]

Yeah I know, it's all the TV and movies that implant it into our heads, and testosterone doesn't help. :]

Well, I have much more respect for men to know that they are human beings with full consciousness and responsibility over their behavior. To say that they are ruled by media and testosterone is to say that they are not smart enough to know what they're doing. While some men certainly are (and so are some women), there are many men who prove this "theory" wrong :).

I strongly believe in women being treated as individuals, not icons

You will say that I'm taking you too seriously, but it's the topic that I take seriously really :) You certainly have a healthy attitude. Good to see that :).

USA, Canada / Americans who call themselves Polish - how do you feel about that? [112]

How can you abandon those who raised you to become who you are? It's not right. They can live with me as long as they want, I don't mind. Try finding and American who'd say that. :]

That is definitely the Polish way, which I'm really proud of. Even though I wouldn't judge Americans by the same standards (they just perceive these things differently, even the elderly, it doesn't mean that they are vile people), by Polish standards, it's quite bad to leave your parents alone when it's our turn to take care of them.

Love / Polish Men and their attitude towards sex and relationships [60]

I'll tell you what's sad, it's sad that you took me seriously :]

I think it's a sign of respect that you're taken seriously. And I think that you should expect that some people may not know you enough to know when you're joking.

In any case, my comment was not aimed at you personally, but just at this sort of attitude - women being treated as sex objects. I'm glad that you were joking! :)

Love / Polish Men and their attitude towards sex and relationships [60]

I wish I knew more about what's happening these days between men and women, in terms of social issues in Poland, but from my scarce observations, I think it's just getting more westernized. This is both good and bad. Good because certain oppressions against women are more recognized and women are more independent, and bad because the media pornification has a terrible impact on how men perceive women and relationships. I think this is the major cultural issue that affects Polish people's perception of relationships and sex these days... I didn't really answer the question, just my thoughts on the topic...

Love / HELP! SEXY POLISH FEMALE STUDENT ISSUES [57]

RandomBrit, people like you revive my faith in humanity. Such mature, non-hypocritical, non-penis-owned views are so rare among men, it's a shame. So thank you so much for being out there, it seriously helps me cope with the crap I have to put up with from most men. I loved your "rant"!

Feedback / Your thoughts on Admin......... [64]

Admin, the navy blue for nicknames looks great, but the black-ness of the front page is a little too dark I think... I wonder if anybody has suggestions about this?

-----

Thanks for the suggestion. We actually play with it a bit but now changed it to lighter color. I hope it looks even better now. Admin

Language / 'mojego ojca' - need some grammatical explanation [12]

hahahah :) I think that I'm making a good impression :) :) again.. wish it was anatomy, but better something then nothing :)... :).

Hell, she can speak polish, so she already has my profound respect.

My brain tends to start leaking out of my ears whenever I try!

Huegel, it cannot be that bad :(. But learning languages can be very frustrating and tedious, I know what you mean. You gotta find ways to make it fun, then it comes to you before you know it :).

Language / 'mojego ojca' - need some grammatical explanation [12]

nie bedzie pieniędzy - there won't be money
nie bedzie prezentów - there won't be gifts
nie bedzie świąt - there won't be holidays
nie bedzie mamy, brata, rodziny - there won't be (your/the) mother, brother, family

będą pięniądze - there will be money (plural)
będą prezenty - there will be gifts (plural)
będą święta - there will be holidays (plural)
będzie mama, brat, rodzina - there will be (the/your) mother, brother, family (singular)

in the second case, the object is used in nominative, but in the first case the object is in genitive.

Language / 'mojego ojca' - need some grammatical explanation [12]

mój ojciec nie będzie w domu przez cały weekend -
this is also a correct way to say it, but has a slightly different grammatical structure. here "moj ojciec" is the subject of the sentence which is in the nominative case, "nie bedzie" is the verb.

in the other case "mojego ojca" is in genitive because the verb "nie bedzie" primarily works with genitive. you say "there won't be - of waht?" and that's why there's genitive. this is actually the main way how it's used ("nie bedzie"). some examples:

nie bedzie pieniędzy
nie bedzie prezentów
nie bedzie świąt
nie bedzie mamy, taty, brata, rodziny....

all the objects after "nie bedzie" are used in genitive.

man’s desire for status; either greed to increase one’s status, or jealousy over losing in the status game to others

and this is how chimpanzees live and that's what they do. we think of them as animals not seeing how similar they are to us - temperamentally and socially.

yeah, they created the saying cause the thought that it's actually YOU who's responsible for your own behavior wouldn't be nice. it's much easier to blame something else and feel good about yourself. have you ever heard of rationalizing? so you trust someone who created this saying without even knowing who it was and why they said it..?

you are confusing the 'thing' that DOES the action (the subject) with the thing that the actions is DONE ON (object of action). obviously you wouldn't blame the object for the actiond done BY the subject, would you?

money the root of all evil!

no, it's not money that's the root of evil but the people who do evil things are the root of evil. people have brains and can make choices and afterwards - should take responsibility instead of blaming it on money, sex, other people... bla bla bla.

Love / Dating a Polish girl - need some advice [45]

i was just trying to say that it's not a black and white situation and it's bad to condemn someone forever right away. her boyfriend might not forgive her, because it's really terrible what she's doing to him, but that doesn't automatically mean that she's a terrible person who should never be trusted. it might be the case actually, but you gotta get to know the person to make that kind of judgment.

Ok what do you consider cheating then? Hypothetically speaking, if your boyfriend kisses another woman you're ok with this?

I said "not completely", but of course it's just a slightly lesser crime, still cheating though. I feel bad for her boyfriend, especially if he really loves her.
