Love / How to sustain a Long Distance Relationship with a Polish girl [75]

thanks for telling me about your relationship. you say you had a good time and like each other a lot. that doesn't sound like very strong feelings for one another! maybe if you felt more you would have moved to Poland

Life / Cheap way to call Poland [6]

Well relatively cheap (if you are making a lot of calls)....

I was finding that ringing Poland on my mobile was costing me £10 for seven minutes. What i have now is a Skype To Go number. I have been allocated a UK phone number which i can phone and it connects me to my beloved in Poland.

Love / The Polish girl i love has gone back to Poland . [65]

I find myself in a similar situation. My girlfriend has been back in Poland for 3 weeks now. Her not being there when I wake up is very hard to cope with! We talk on the phone a few times a week, but we don't communicate too well on the phone.

e-mailing, texting, calling, writing, sending packages and keep that person next to you in your heart

sounds like sensible advice.

I am going to stay with him for Christmas etc,

I plan to move to Poland, so perhaps my situation is slightly different. Until that time I am in a long distance relationship and have to try to make the most of it.

Language / Polish words shared with the french language [29]

I was telling my girlfriend that the Polish have stolen many(!) words from the French language. The only examples I could come up with were mur (wall) and bilet / billet (ticket). My knowledge of french is poor and my polish worse. Can anyone else help prove my point?

You are now officially on your merry way to making yourself a village fool of PF

I hope you don't mean me!
thanks for all your answers to my light-hearted post. I was hoping there would be more words in common and maybe it would make it easier for me to learn Polish.

Love / friendhship with polish girl [63]

never have a female house/flatmate nothing good can come of it. they are going to bring men home and you will get jealous! that is my advice. like osiol says the nationality is irrelevant.

people can be selfish and ungrateful, unfortunately it's not just females or Polish females guilty of that.

Language / Sending SMS messages without using Polish characters [23]

When texting someone in Polish my phone doesn't support accented and special characters. What is the convention here, do you just use the un-accented version? Are there any pitfalls where doing this could completely confuse/upset someone? I remember the first text message I sent to my beloved I had to find a phrase without any special characters in it, not something I can keep on doing!

I wish you luck

Alas, my luck was only partial. I didn't ruin my phone, but on the other hand I didn't succeed in getting a Polish character set. Strangely I now have Turkish characters available.

If i where you, i would rent an apartment

Interesting idea. I'm only going to 5 days and I like to be waited on hand and foot. Hotels are pretty cheap too. Might be worth considering for a future trip though...
