Poland is now in the european union...that means that Polish people have every right to go to the uk and take English jobs from English people...I welcomed eight Polish people into my home so that they could have jobs in England..I didnt have a problem with that...On the other hand i moved to Poland and bought a run down farm here,, and intend to make my life here...I have to say i have not experianced any hostility from any Polish people,,in fact the opposite,, they have helped me so much ....Economic migration is a fact of life...get used to it..and take advantage of it...be proud to be Polish..and when you have made your money in the UK ..come back to Poland and invest your money here....I am English by the way.....Jan

As an English guy living in Poland i have to say i love Polish people , thats why i live here....As for Poles taking English jobs , why not , this is the European union , Poles can take UK jobs , i can buy a farm in Poland.....All i can say to all the Poles heading for the UK is...work hard..save your money , then come back to Polska and spend your money here , buy a house , make a business , Poland has a great future...Sadly i think one day Poland will be just like England , so many Poles seem to think that Poland is so terrible and should be more like the UK....Be patient , one day it will be just the same , thankfully i will be dead by then....Be proud of your country...I am... hi..just to clear up a few things....i didn,t avoid buying food in order to impress all the local girls with my Harley...I owned the Harley when i got here , and yes i could sell it and buy a few loafs of bread , but i choose not to...As for the camera,s and things , i needed them to take pics to put on a website to start a business here bringing tourists to this lovely area and provide jobs for local people...I am not asking for sympathy regarding the food thing , i was just trying to point out that i am not some rich visitor to Poland buying up land to make money...I live here , i am part of the community , and i am here for life...I first came to Poland in order to to bring money toys and clothes for children in a home here , so yes i am a bit angry that people who have plenty to eat have stolen my things to sell and buy drugs and beer..All i want is some advice on what to do , i am not expecting anyone to cry for me...I knew life would be tough here , and i don,t complain about that,,, just need some help please....Jan..

The local priest...maybe thats an idea...Of course in UK this would be a very strange idea , but i am aware that in Polska the church has much more power and respect than in the UK....I doubt that i will get my things back , probably already been sold , but i would like to end the idea that i am a free gift shop for bandits....My biggest fear is that i catch these people on my farm , and wind up in prison myself...Although i am a peacefull person and dislike violence , i did spend seven years in the army , so have some expertise in such violence....I think i would not be a very nice person if i catch them...Also..i fear for my Harley , its the only thing i have of real value...As it happens i am member of Polish motorcycle club , who would be very angry if they knew what happened , and blood would definatly be spilled...The only reason i don,t tell them is that i don,t want that they get into trouble on my behalf.......

Its only the people who don,t know me so well that think i am rich , probably because of the Harley , the people who are my real friends know the truth....There are some very special people in my life who help me very much , but because of language problem they don,t always know what to do....My first posting must have sounded very negative about Polish people , but thats not how i feel...I have met some of the best friends i ever had in Poland , and the actions of a few worthless buraks has not changed the way i feel about my Polish friends...Many of my neighbours will be angry that someone stole from their English friend , but again the language problem means they cannot tell me this.....and yes i know i need to learn Polish , but living alone its not so easy.....

I think i understand what your job is...and yes most people will have their own picture of what its about , which is a long way from the facts.....I agree that violence is a last resort....unless they touch my Harley that is.........

What rubbish....yes there are some dishonest scum in my village , but the majoity of them are hard working nice people who would not think of doing such a thing...There are many people in Poland who have helped me , given me things , and looked after my interests...These are people i would trust with my life , special people that will be friends for life.....Yes of course i have met those who want to be my friend because they think it will get them a free beer , but i am wise enough to know the difference...Saying that ALL Polish people are thieves is just racism , and rather silly , since its unlikely you have met ALL the people in Poland....

mmm maybe the old Harley,s were like that , but mine does not use any oil , and is very good on fuel , certainly cheaper to run than my cars....not so warm in the Polish winter tho....

I will try and put it VERY simply At the time when i was so short of money that i could not buy food i could not buy fuel either...Is that so difficult to understand...? Yes i could sell all my cars and bike and buy a few bags of food , but i chose not too , as i cant replace then later on...Where i live having transport is essential , and the Harley is the cheapest transport i have.....In any case the lack of food thing is not the point , i merely mentioned it to make the point i am not some rich English tourist buying up Poland...The post was to get advice from Polish people on what to do about bandits stealing my stuff...Selling my bike and buying some food is not going to help with that....

As someone who has taught survival to people i can assure you that its possible to live a month without food , not much fun , but you can do it , as long as you get water....Now , hibernating for the winter , sounds like a good plan...

UK, Ireland / English people attitude towards Poles? [761]

The last posts i read from Ola 123 was her saying that she strongly objected to English people buying Polish land , and many of her comments were very racist...Now she is asking about English attitude to Poles going to UK , and going there herself....I only hope that if she likes it in UK , and buys a house there that she does not meet English people that have the same attitude as she has....I have no problem with Polish people going to UK , and thankfully the Polish people i have met don,t have a problem with me buying a Polish farm , and living here.....Most English people i know will have no problem at all with hard working Polish people , and you will be made welcome by most people...Of course there will be those that don,t like anyone that is not a local , but its not a view of most UK people...Go there , you will be ok....

iI am asking about how to deal with the scum who stole from me...telling me that everyone in Poland is a thief is not helpfull , and in my experiance not at all true....Some of the greatest kindness i have been shown has been from poor people who have very little themselves....I cannot condem all the Polish nation because of a few local buraks who would be just as happy to steal from their own people......

Sad thing is...these people are already friends...or pretend to be...they have drunk coffee at my home , shake my hand when they see me , then steal when they know i was not at home....Mind you they ain,t called to see me since they stole my stuff.....I heard a saying once...If somebody borrows 50 zloty and you never see them again , it was probably worth it....Sadly i lost a lot more than 50 zloty....

Oh god this is terrible....Leeds was my home before i moved to Poland....I have to say that the Harehills area is not a good place to live...high crime , prostitution , and drugs...But the rents are cheap , so i guess a lot of Polish people will wind up there...Does it say where in Poland she was from...?

Her name was Zuzanna Zommer...She was 14 years old , and was alone in her home when she was attacked....The police have arrested a 39 year old man , but he hasn,t been named and nothing that i read gives any clue to what nationality he is...Whatever his race or creed we must think only what her family are going through...They travel so far to a strange country to make a better life , and now their child has been taken from them...nothing else is really relavant is it..?

Not many facts have come out yet , but the area where the family lived is not the nicest area of Leeds...It could be a sex attack , or simply a robber that unexpectedly found the house occupied...we don,t know yet....

Please don,t get the idea that England is a dangerous place to live for Polish people...I lived in Leeds for twenty years and never had a problem...However i did have eight Polish people living in my house after rescuing them from a rather dodgey situation in another area...I would say do your homework , talk to people who live in the area you are going to , the locals usually know what is a nice area , and which ones to avoid...You can run into bad people in any place in the world.....
