Real Estate / Foreigners: Please don't buy Polish Land! [823]

I saw this thread and I had to add something.......
I live in Dublin & can also not afford to buy property. I also work in a job very closely related to the buying and selling of property......

And I can say that there are Polish ppl here who can afford to buy property in Dublin!!!
So does that mean I should blame them because I can't afford a house????
No... because thats just life.

Real Estate / Foreigners: Please don't buy Polish Land! [823]

Hey Big Rob!
I know, I like to complain too but only when it actually gets me something!
Giving out about Polish property prices on a Forum...... I can see big changes coming! :)

Its thanks to all the foreigners that have come to Ireland that our economy is booming.
Maybe you should try opening your mind a little?

News / The Impact of Poland joining the EU [64]

While what Miranda says may make sense, I'm interested to know the opinions of Irish people (where market prices after joining the EU have dramatically risen). Have many Irish immigrants actually returned to Ireland after that?

Also, I noticed (on this forum too) there are more and more requests like "Looking for someone to sell my property in Poland, will pay high commission." So the speculators are trying to cash in, but it's not so easy to sell a Polish property for a good price anymore.

Seeing as you asked for an Irish opinion......
Although prices are up & inflation is over 5% already for this year I would still rather be in the EU. It was 35 years ago that we joined and things were much worse then. High unemployment, high taxes, Industrial strikes and of course the violence up north.

Things are alot better now!

Love / Advice for an Irish girl meeting mother of Polish boyfriend [21]

I will be meeting her in her house. She lives here (ireland) and from what my bf has told me she is quite open minded (she's lived in Italy also)

Thanks for your help Miranda. I think I'm just a little nervous :(

Love / Canadian Boy to Marry Polish Girl - what gifts for her parents? [17]

Bring them something that is made in the place you come from.
Maybe you can go to a local art & craft market?

I met my boyfriends grandmother when I was on holiday in Poland and I brought her some hand made crosses (made from Irish turf - so it actually came from the ground here) to hang on her wall.

Hope i helped a little :)

UK, Ireland / 2 Polish men killed in Drimnagh, Dublin [29]

I have looked for a post about what has happened last weekend in Drimnagh

(2 men killed by teenagers-

A double murder investigation is under way following the death of a second man who was stabbed in the Dublin suburb of Drimnagh last Saturday.
29-year-old Pavel Kalite had been critically ill since the attack, which has already claimed the life of his 27-year-old friend Marius Szwajkos.

but I couldn't find any. I think it is something that should be discussed instead of ignored! It seems more important to me than some of the other crap that is being discussed ie: is my polish bf cheating on me.... etc....

I am disgusted by the what has happened and what a s---hole my city is becoming.
I know this is being reported of in Poland, so has the opinion of Polish people changed towards Ireland?

They are reporting on the news that the attack was not because they were Polish although how are we to know if this is 100% true?

They have been saying on the radio that they were attacked by teenagers because they refused to buy alcohol for them.

I'm not saying it is because they were polish. I was looking for some polish opinion on the subject, what do they think of Dublin now?

I live very near to Drimnagh and even though it has a bad reputation I thought that it wasn't so bad. Now I'm not so sure!

I am shocked and disgusted by it! They were attacked by teenagers with a screwdriver!!!

Yes attacks do happen all the time, but that shouldn't mean that we all just say "oh well, more scumbags on the streets".
