Law / Starting a Business In Poland - what should I know? [28]

If you want to loose all your money go ahead and set up a business in Poland, Poland has so much red tape and laws which are hard to understand that you best go elsewhere, If you go ahead make sure you are prepared to pay a lot of money in bribes to everyperson you deal with in the course of your business. A lot of big businesses have 3 year tax concessions, once that make some money they withdraw there business and trade under a different name. Poles have low income and unless you want to produce a new beer or vodka forget it.

Law / Starting a Business In Poland - what should I know? [28]

You name me one person that doesn't try to cheat tax in some way.

ukpolski some people are slow learners, whilst I agree that most people think cheating the tax system is fair game, I'm talking about something else, and anybody who has had the displeasure of starting up a business in Poland will know what I am talking about. The government and red tape make it very hard, they fail to understand that business is the life blood of any growing economy.

How true, you can buy anything in Poland! If you do business in Poland make sure you have a good lawyer and everything you agree to is in writing and legally binding, (poles change there mind)

Work / Living on the certain income in Poland [30]

I'd say more 1500PLN for rent and bills but it depends.

Quote

Seanus, you must be living in the dark ages. tax on 5000zl is about 1800zl. Rent for a half decent unit is 1200zl plus unit fees (up to 500zl) and electricity, phone, cable tv, internet. This would leave 1500zl (approx for food, transport, clothes)

work it out for yourself your quality of lifestyle.

A night out for 2 could cost well over 300zl.

It might be consoling to know that some people take home 1000zl a month and survived.

Life / Moving back to Poland after 20 unhappy years in Canada and USA [70]

Were you able to find a job and settle down?

Unless you have plenty of money, please think twice about returning. It pays to check it out first ie return for one year and leave you options open.

Things have changed in Poland when you last lived there, it is a different country, increased crime, more black people and poor heath systems. Good Luck anyway.

Real Estate / what is the price to rent or buy a bar or pub in "Rzeszow" [10]

actually i want to do a bar which is going to looks like a sports bar.so i need to know if its good to rent or buy the place in Rzeszow somewhere in the city!

Don't think it will pay to do that in a provincial town, you need tourist to make it work, unfortunately not too many tourist visit that part. Keep in mind poles do not eat out, they prefer to cook there own. You may want to make contact with a trader in the Rynek area of Rzeszow or just observe how well they are doing.

Sam 57 don't want to be disrespectful but you will be in competition with local operators, although poles are not racist they would prefer to support a local pole than somebody from another country, get my drift.

From my experience Poles prefer to buy a bottle of beer for 3zl from a corner shop than pay 8zl in a bar.
Poles don't eat out and as mentioned by WB because they carn't afford it, thats true. Mind you the younger people think a bit differently and eating out is becoming a status symbol.

Many black people are here to study Medicine and other subjects.

Very very sorry didn't mean to be racist or anti black, the point being made that things have changed in Poland (IE 20years ago there were very few foreigners living permanently in Poland) every one felt at home, the situation is different today, black people, irish people or people from the GB its all the same, the Irish are probably the worst

Life / Wage - Expenses = It Doesn't Add Up!!! [33]

A decent 1 room apartment/unit would run me in at $1500. So thats out of the question. I would have to settle for renting a small room for $1000zl

You still have to pay additional cost associated with living in the building say 200zl plus gas/electrity and water.
You should be able to earn approx 5000zl gross with your qualifications.

News / Poland will take half a century to catch up with the West [240]

Only this morning I parted with 150 PLN for routine blood tests.

lol, you may want to tell forum members what it cost to be treated in the USA, and how much you pay for health insurance. You have it good in Poland

USA, Canada / Why would someone leave Poland for the US? [120]

The reason why a person would leave the US to live in Poland, is quality of life, yes pretty simply and straight forth answer.

Americans are still to experice a second major shock in that the new popular president will not be able to do much to save the US economy, How it must be insulting and a joke to the current administration to hear of some young jerk telling them to move over and telling them I will fix the world.

It must be one of the few countries in the world were ex criminals reaffend again to have the security of a roof over their heads.

The quality of life in Poland is more important than a false American dream.

Europe is the future, America is on its way out.

Life / Coming back to Poland after 5 years in UK [14]

Paulina.. you need to gather your family and speak your mind ...

patrycja19, your advice is pure nonsense, the feel and touch effect does not work in poland... best advice is to dump your family, of couse explain why and leave.. ps.... give it time and your father and brother will come back crawling to you and all will be good.

please ignore any other advice.

Life / Coming back to Poland after 5 years in UK [14]

and yes I am polish, my dads father was polish, he was just like his father , and they all came strait from poland!! some men never change.. huh.. bolek?

Patrycja, men don't change because the methods you want us to follow don't work.

From my experience make your point, if you don't get a satisfactory response, dust the sand from your sandles and leave... rest assured that this will make them change.. at least try it... unfortunately people in Poland who have a family member work overseas think that this person is made of money and a good target. Poles are slow learners in this regard...

UK, Ireland / 33% of Poles in Ireland to return to Poland in 2009 [30]

It could take years for this to occur and IMO will result in mass social upheaval and may ultimately lead to WWIII.

A lot of people are saying that if America fails to get out of this economic mess its only option will be to create a world war (look at the current middle east conflict)

This may sound sick but think about it folks it would lead the US of recession and bump up a lot of shares.

UK, Ireland / 33% of Poles in Ireland to return to Poland in 2009 [30]

That was way back in the day when the US actually produced stuff

Lets face it when the US is threatened it will create a war, even if it means telling lies when it invaded countries like in Iraq, Vietnam, and supporting right wing groups in South America. The US propaganda machine is so well oiled up it is able to transfer a lie into making out it is a good guy. If US business is threatened and the only solution is creating a world war, the US will create a war.

Make no mistake if you had a fist full of dollars in your hot little hand, I'm sure you would do the same. Like always money comes number one, morality comes last.
