News / POLAND TO SIGN US MISSILE SHIELD DEAL TONIGHT [239]

I havent read the entire thread so forgive me if I'm repeating a point already made but if Poland acted unilaterally to install the missile shield on their own land despite the fact that it has made their neighbours (including Germany) indirect targets for Russian missiles, then how can they object to Germany acting unilaterally as regards to the pipeline?

It seems that its one of the "what was first, the chicken or the egg?" questions.

This shield does sh*t for you but annoying your neighbours! If that is your course to secure Polands safety, good luck!

Do you think that Poland should avoid annoying Russia?

Love / Polish women are known for their beauty, but men are so ugly (most of).. [250]

Poland is full of girls married with foreigners, but what about the other way around, polish men with foreigner women?

I heard from I guy, who knew a guy, who was a taxi driver and met a man who thinks he saw a foreign lady with a man who might have been polish. Or was it a yeti? I'm not sure anymore…

PS: Maybe we are ugly but we smell! Or so says the rumor. ;)

BTW, Whose successor Poland is? Germany is successor of Charlemagne Empire, Russia is a Rus descendant, but Poland who is she?

Well Germany is the successor of The Holy Roman Empire and Russia is the successor of the Byzantine Empire... it looks like there aren’t any Roman empires left for us. ;)

Genealogy / Pole: What is your nationality? I am eurounian.... [30]

Well I'm European, Pole, Wielkopolanin, Opaleniczanin, ect, ect... and I don't think that one identity contradicts the other.

I am Native American with English and Ukranian ancestry. I will never lose my Native heritage.

Fascinating. The territory of today’s Ukraine was once "the wild west" of Europe, with the difference that it was actually located on the east. ;P Many outlaws, adventurers and runaway peasants fled there to start a new and better life. Aside from Poles, Ruthenians, Lithuanians, Jews, Tartars, Germans, Armenians, etc there were also many people from the rest of Europe, even from England or France. The land was very fertile but it was also a very dangerous place because of many Tartar raids, Cossack uprisings, wars with Russia, Turkey etc... I do see a similarity between your Ukrainian and Native American heritage. :) Sorry for the off topic.

Love / Polish men vs German men: Who is hotter? [513]

;x

:))

meaning?

All this nonsense about the big occasions and no class, ect, ect... Some have it and some don't.
But let us not waste our life to argue about such trivial matters. Lets talk about the Jews, WWII or the UK's immigration policy and all that jazzzzzzzz. ;)

Hey PJ, I think you are trying too hard mate. The same goes for MarcinD.

If would be enough if you would end your rant saying that you prefer German women to Polish ones. No need to add "ideology" to this preference.

PS: Shelley can say anything because I like her. :)

Language / Polish v Russian - similarity [17]

I struggle to understand anything in Russian although members of my family say that it really is similar to Polish. Than again, they were forced to learn that language back in the day and I'm from the generation that weren't.... I like the sound of it though.

I do understand a lot from Ukrainian.

News / Could Poland handle another war? [63]

No i'm not a specialist on Poland or Polish history

We already figured that one out. Which brings me to think, why do you make statements about subjects of which you have no idea of? (Polish history)

They however havent said what the right one is.

The question is to vague to answer. We need more details.

Life / What nation Poles like the most? [56]

As I said Poles can't let football be just football...it's like a replay of some battles for them!

:)

Hey, you started it! And I didn't mean the war this time but naturally the conversation about Grunwald. :)

Life / What nation Poles like the most? [56]

Not to mention the fact that as a result of Thirteen Year's War in XV century the Teutonic Knights and later on Prussia were Polish vassals up until the XVIII century, when unfortunately for us and luckily for them, the tide has turned, to put it mildly. :)

Do you think they learn anything apart the September 1939 campaign on history classes in Deutschland?

(Even once-in-a-time successes like Grünwald are needed to bolster motivation) He...:)

hehe. Seriously though, how does the history curriculum look like in Germany? I’m not being nasty here.

UK, Ireland / The Daily snot rag (Mail) removes anti-Polish content [30]

I don't want to go into details whether it was a good or a bad move from The Federation of Poles in GB, but let me just ask you how exactly an article about Poles eating swans (lol) is being a criticism because I don’t get it?

You bunch of soft fairies :) it just makes me laugh at Poland as a whole, i've not come accross anything so soft in all my life. ppfffff, hahahahahaha, belive me this is not anti polish i'm just astonished at how they cannot take criticism or bad press and feel that they are worst off.

Lol. This must be my favourite post of all time. :)

Life / Money - a taboo subject in Poland [25]

That's why they don't like Westerners. They'll hate you because you may have something they want to have, but can't afford; car, house etc.

Yes, the one thing why I don't like westerners is that they earn more than me. The other thing is that they fart in ladies company. Barbarians. ;)

News / The past and future of Poland. Poland is lost. [113]

Ashamed of what? Being European? No. But just because countries share a common currency that doesn't mean they should lose their identity. I do not believe in an integrated Europe in terms of government, and of culture, but of economics and freedom to travel and work, yes, I believe in that for Europe.

A positive side effect of the situation when you get in touch with other cultures is that you learn to appreciate things that normally you take for granted in your old country. So it's not as bad as you might think. Actually it's getting better and better with every day.

Many have posted on this forum that Poland is as good, if not better, than the rest of Europe. This has been discussed at great length at various times

In some aspects it clearly is. In other it really has a lot to catch up.

Life / Money - a taboo subject in Poland [25]

Poles are short on cash in most aspects of life but rather than question a bill/payment when it comes to parting with the dollar they'll just pay it to avoid being labelled as tight.

Blimey, that's really me. I guess you can say that I try to avoid being called tight, but I like southerns explanation better. ;)

News / Come on EU lets keep it together. [20]

I would love to see Ukraine join. It will not be long before hoards of Ukrainian workers come here to Poland to fill the job vacancies.

Quite a number of them is already here. I doubt if you could find a farm in Poland without Ukrainian workers working on it. At least thats the case where I live. Interesting fact about those farm visasa. Didn't know about it.

Language / Bezele and Ciapaci [30]

maybe it is another reason.i remember that we started calling our workmates like that cuz chapati was the only word we could understand in punjabi.we haven't heard this word form anyone else.it came easily..

Well this was an explanation I got by one Pole back in 2004. I like your one better, but they might as well both be right. I didn't like the undertone of that word though.

Language / Bezele and Ciapaci [30]

I know that 'ciapaci' is what some Poles in UK call people from India or Pakistan. Why 'ciapaci'??

Probably because the spots many have on their skin.
