Hehe ;) Yeah i may go there again this year (as well as Gliwice (Silesia) and Warsaw (my first time to the capital city))
I've been to the Viking Festival of Wolin at least 2-3 times, and always enjoyed it ;)
One of the video you gave Lukasz, shows a battle, and i swear they don't cheat, they really fight, btw i have vids of last year's festival...

And just so you know, there's a Viking metal band from the Faroese called Týr who turned one of their movie clips there, the song is Regin Smiður

For my part, my mother comes from Silesia (Gliwice). Her maiden name was Nowak (pretty common in Poland, LoL, actually the most common name). Her mother (so my Polish grandma) maiden name was Kupka (if you speak Polish, you may know what it means...hehe), but when i google it, i find many Czechs "Kupka"...

My father is from Brittany (northwest of France) but as the region has been invaded many times, i may have some Skandi blood as well as English, etc. ;) Who knows, i'd like to have a DNA test someday, but it's pretty expensive...

People at that time were afraid of them, they used to tell stories to each other (those stories were wrong of course, for most of them) about how the Vikings attacked, raped, slaughtered and put everything on fire. They even invented the word "drakkar", with the double "k" to make it more "exotic" ;) The real name is "skip", actually it's the word for "ship" and it's pronounced the same.


Poland became Christian in 966 (if i remember well).
Poles and Vikings have never been real enemies. Dunno if you know the Danish king Knut II ? He was one of the greatest king of that time, he ruled over Denmark, England, Norway...and maybe more. His mother was a Polish princess (at least it's what it's said...).

I read many things about the Vikings and never really find a thing about attacks in Poland...if that's what you wanted to know ;)

They were Germanic. Their ancestors came from current Poland but they were Germanic tribes (goths, wends, etc.). But they may be a mix of Germanic and Slavic people ;)


Yeah, then maybe Poles too...dunno. Among the Vikings we could find Poles cause Polish people were known to be brave, good warriors and good sailors, that's why the Vikings "hired" some of them. When the Vikings discovered America in 1000 AC, there may have been Poles with them...

Hehe, yeah he was a big fan of Viking sagas and Nordic mythology...The thing is that i do like Vikings too, i have a necklace representing Thor, and i find Nordic mythology very interesting ;) But i'm not planning on exterminate people just because they don't have the same hair or finger length... ;) I go almost every year to Wolin's Viking Festival (PL). Wolin was known as Jomsborg in the sagas, and Jomsborg's Vikings were ones of the bravest, strongest Vikings ever ;)

That's too simple. The northwest region of Brittany is neither Mediterranean nor Germanic (for most of the people). They are of Celtic descent (unless you include the Celts into the Mediterranean branch).

Btw, isn't the haplogroup I typical of the Nordic countries ? Cause it seems that Germany and Poland have approximately the same proportion of hpl. I... Hitler was a fool ;)

Each year (or almost each year), i watch the Eurovision. But the votes are not very objective...you vote more for a country you like than the quality of the song, not depending on its nationaliy...

So Serbians will vote for Croatians, who will vote for Bosnia who themselves will vote for Albania who will vote for.......Kosovo of course ! That's why Russia is against the independence of Kosovo, cause Russians want to win the contest... ;)

A personal thought, what about a Yougoslavia song...it means that all ex-Yougo countries would all be together for the contest...this way, they wouldn't vote for each other as they usually do, and Iceland could have the chance to win at last ;P

My dad is French, so he speaks French, my mum is Polish, used to speak to us in Polish. I'm the elder brother of a brother and a sister. Are we backward at school or having any difficulties ?...Absolutely not, actually it's the contrary. We all are the best in our English classes, and good (if not among the bests) in other classes.

A friend of mine speaks both French and English at home, he's not bad at school at all.

Where did you get that ? English and Scots are a mix of Germanic and Celtic tribes, and maybe others... You seem really proud that daddy Adolf would have given you a stroke on your head.

Do you really know Hitler's plan ? Do you think that because you are supposedly "Germanic", he would never have attacked you ? History told us actually...

Norway is also a Germanic country, more than Britain, and was, for some Nazis, the birthplace of the so-called "Aryan race". What happened ? Germany invaded Norway, killed the coast guards who defended their country (it's a chance that some Polish submarine attacked and sank at least one of these German boats...).


As there were quite a lot of Poles (in western Poland particularly) who already spoke German, they didn't need to be taught German.
Do you realize that you are talking about kids ? + Polish children who were blond (and maybe with some other features) were supposed to be "germanized".
