News / EURO Currency : Should Poland join?? [9]

Great Britain and Sweden

Poland shoud do the same

I agree Poland must wait, however, Poland does not have the same economic output as GB or Sweden and the Euro has been advantageous to mainland eu countries, encouraging internal markets and providing greater transparency of prices. as to name but a few benefits

In my opinion Poland should join once the economy can handle it.

News / What do Poles think about the newly elected French president? [30]

it's a good thing those 2 are seperated.

agreed

Poland is a secular state as well..

It is - but the church still has large influence there - that will change like most other countries once the economy improves. (hey id like to be wrong but its they way its gone and goes)

religion is a personal thing

It is but we still need devoted people in the church to focus on the spiritual matters. Im glad Sarkozy has made his agenda very clear.

I understand G's position too crow. I dont agree with it is the point.
We cannot accuse all Italians are potential child killers over the inexcusable behavior of BOTH men! She was an innocent bystander and we should not let racism sully her needless death.

News / What do Poles think about the newly elected French president? [30]

In economy they supported for exampel 35h work a week.

which is a minimum now not a maximum

In case of religion the same fanatism about separation of church and the state and so on.

which exists in all EU states and long may it do so (let the church focus on spiritual matters for a change and not power)

Maybe S. will make a difference, but Chirac aministration was making Blair look like a right-wing extremist.

I agree - France lost alot under Chirac in my opinion

And the whole point is that they don't... In Poland most people would get over that (especailly If they were beaten in equal fight)

Not true, this is a generalisation. we've examples HERE in ireland of Polish drug dealers committing vile acts against other poles who owe them money. These are people taking advantage of other people. I even know one pole who spat at someone for just being german! so you cannot tell me that its a polish trait to spit at people?! its people. individual people.

You cannot paint an entire nation under a single stereotype G. You know it.

and was too stupid to imagine that he may kill innocent people) which is a result of woomp mentality

Its a stupid mentality alright - but what about all the other stupid mentalitys of other equal or greater crimes?! they are not all whoomps. some are polish, irish, english, american! look at virgina tech shootings! that quy was a nut! yet NOT a reflection of his entire race! That pole I mentioned earlier spitting on a foreigner, that was not a smart mentality act BUT it is NOT the mentality of all poles. PROVING yet again you cannot advocate racism for the crimes of individuals. You wouldnt even be discussing it if it it was an irish child or english or german. so its a double standard here too.

Focus on the actual crime - the murder of an innocent child. do not create more stupidity from an already stupid and tragic crime.

so let me add 2 more anti-woomp cents

so your admitting to being racist then? Its not acceptable and thats what we are saying her. to generalise, this is just what you've done. painted all italians with the one brush. and its not true of italians as its not true of irish or Polish G.

Dude had his ass kicked in a bar fight

With a Polish guy this time - but could be ANY nationality - ANY guy.

I really believe that this idiot only wanted to scary them, but It doesn't make It any better. In fact that's worse and show very well that they do things but don't think about results of their actions.

spot on until...

Simply woomps.

Polish people do things like the above, Irish people do, Americans, Chinese, etc. Its not a national trait of any one nation G.

Life / How to convince somebody to stay in Poland?? [20]

Don't stay there, poland sucks !

ah the old reverse psychology ;)

I have to write a paper in which i must convince a woman (after studies) to stay in Pland (She want to go abroad and earn some money).

she wants to go, to earn money - it seems here goals are financially motivated. focus on here reasons for leaving and present oppurtunities for her to met them in Poland. Though I imagine that will not be so easy.

Powodzenia

News / EURO Currency : Should Poland join?? [9]

I'm in type of busienss were receiving payments in Euro and making payments in PLN it is a headache since the exchange rate fluctuate and there is some extra calculations required and checking of current rates. It's annoying at least.

doesnt matter - i work for an american MNC and we deal in dollars depsite being in Ireland. it is down to your co. structure what currency you deal in and negotiate with suppliers etc.

eg we have contracts in the far east in dollars and euro for eg. depends.

AS to PL joining the euro as part of joining the EU - you'll find it was NOT a pre-requisite but a statement made on behalf of the Polish government should/when they got into EU as something they aspire to do. It is still voluntary membership of EU members to join the Euro currency. The PL gov't may have committed to joining the euro but the EU did not commit PL to it and did not do so to any EU member. The members that accepted the euro did so of there own free will and economic think tanks weighing the pro's and con's and is a european unification dream step being achieved.

UK, Ireland / English people attitude towards Poles? [761]

Daffy, the question wasn't if you're proud of being called a 'Celt,' but if you'd be happy if the generic term 'Celts' were used as a generic term in a negative context.

Imagine a situation where the Scots have done something wrong, but the press hacks report that it's the 'Celts' who have done it. Wouldn't you demand that the hacks mentioned the culprits by their specific nationality, and not by a generic term?

wouldn't bother me - we are celtic. because i understand that it is individuals and not a race that commited the crime.

News / EURO Currency : Should Poland join?? [9]

I guess Poland has no choice now but to join Euro

they have a choice - like the UK did - but i think its to Polands gain to join it. GBP was stronger than the Euro at the time of launch whereas the euro is stronger than the zloty at present.

Once Poland reaches the economic criteria - they should join the euro I think.

UK, Ireland / English people attitude towards Poles? [761]

So the jobs over there are divided into "Protestant", "Catholic" and others and EU instead of doing something about this s*it is kicking us for "discrimination" of homos...

the north of Ireland was riff with discrimination G. Its still something that needs to improve but it is 85% better than the 70's 80's and 90's

it is a triumph for peace and tolerance today - from where it came. it still has far to go but my god man the progress there is so visable :)

I disagree, its not just a perception.

you can disagree but you you dont live in the UK and do not know. whereas UK citizens have told you and you refuse to accept what they tell

that is your choice. it is perception when you view something different to someone else btw

UK, Ireland / English people attitude towards Poles? [761]

This is why you see 2 millions Poles in the Isles, they chose "average" life over "poor" or "very poor".

then that is just perception Ola123. as to a british citizen, british minimum wage is not good enough. like Polish minimum wage is not good enough to a polish citizen.

We dont have EE people in Poland, there are less than 1% in our country despite our door very widely open :-P.

UK, Ireland / English people attitude towards Poles? [761]

My point is that it is almost impossible to live any poorer,

but you still have eastern people go to Poland. ive seen it myself ms golczyk. The british minimum wage does not offer an 'ok' living as many british have already told you. it wouldnt be called 'minimum' then would it - it would be 'average'.

UK, Ireland / New BBC series following the lives of immigrants is looking for people [49]

indeed G but the BBC is not a polonophobic institution. Im trying to highlight that point. it writes thousands of articles on MANY issues. and does not merit wondering about changing Poles views of the British public. so don't **** me off either i could say :)

Because Polish media is so perfect? give me a break - all media do things that 100% of people will not agree with it!

One could wonder If British deserve a good treatement from us.

is still not a reaction i agree, wondering or not - i wouldnt entertain such a ridiculous reaction over ONE article

Why not "British live in the closet" ?

because the story wasn't about british living in the toilet. it was about polish...
I read the article

And "one" has a full right to wonder whatever he wants.

then so does the British and Polish people. but i would never incinuate in any terms changing behaviour to a race en mass due to an article you pre-selected and ignoring all other articles thinking they are being polonophobic
