Work / Finding work in Poland as an Englishman [11]

Matyjasz,

You don't need a native speaker as your language skills are better than most.

While you're at the computer you could try listening to on-line radio. With your interests BBC Radio 4 will help, if you think you need it.

What is a proofreader ? It is an Englishman checking a text and pretending he's important.

A proofreader needs skills in English Language, Grammar and a modicum of knowledge in the Subject Matter. It is also anyone who checks a text, however short.

"Have your private lessons with me [for 100zl ] and watch your marks [in my class at university] rise through the roof."

Life / Are Polish People Racist? [1037]

Cyprian,

All families have their history. All I ask from you is that you have a little more respect for members when they post.

One good post far out-weighs ten bad/insulting ones.

Yes, be proud of your roots as I am proud of mine.

Cyprian,

You have been away far too short and come back far too soon.

UK, Ireland / Poles in GB: Why did you go - for money or something else? [53]

annamaria,

I don't have to watch TV to know what is happening in Poland. I live here and my work involves speaking to young and middle-aged people every day.

The Polish government don't have deranged ideas. They simply have no ideas. Hence the problems with the coalition at the moment. :)

What is this rubbish about gays 'coming out'. We have had gay clubs here for years. No-one [certainly among the young] cares about sexual orientation.

As for what people say on TV. I have done enough interviews to know how the world of media works.

Life / Are Polish People Racist? [1037]

The terms "Polish concentration camps" and "Polish death camps" are something the Polish [government I think] have been trying to do away with for the last couple of years. I imagine that modern youth in some countries don't know their history [as a subject] very well and the folks here just want to make the facts clear.

Food / Christmas Dinner in Poland [33]

Decorator.

If you see a candle in the window of a Polish home on Christmas Eve, there should be an extra plate for an unexpected guest.

It's up to you to find the candle.

annamaria,

There are people here who might take exception to what you say. But I have to agree with you.

I don't mind if you send me a PM. Then I will answer your question in full.

I might not be the right candidate though, because we now live in Poland.

seachild,

Go to: castlegarden.org

Passenger lists. When you enter a name don't fill in first name. Then check all results.

You will find about ten "Boruch" names.
