History / Are irregulars necessary in former communist states? [14]

We are often told the present is only for regular and high professional armies

I can't agree with that. Modern operational forces have huge abilities to fight other regular armies but also have huge problems with irregular forces. Look at Iraq. How easily Americans crushed Saddam's army and how many problems they have with hardly armed "terrorists". I think that optimal is to have small proffesional well equipped and trained forces and short national service, where people should be trained basic things, so in case of war also a large "home army" could be created.

Travel / How really cheap is in Poland? [37]

Are clothes relatively the same price wise or are they much cheaper in Poland?

Bills and services are relatively cheap here but If you want to buy for example some top quality Italian clothes then they will be probably more expensive here than in western Europe because fewer people can afford them, so they are imported in smaller numbers.

History / Unban - no, Mocherowy berety - yes. Opinion of a Moskal [20]

But that's nothing unusual. It often happens that when there are some problems between 2 countries, people in each of them are desperately trying to find someone from that other one, who is criticizing his own country's position and make him look like some star, while often he/she is almost unknown in own coutry.

I don't think it is a good manner offending trash comparing it with Urban's activities.

True.

Polish mass media also make publisity of Russian trash, Russian liberasts

True too.

Study / Working versus Studying in Poland [5]

I am looking for some advice on how to best start this process, should I apply for a visa to work in Poland and try to get a job, or should I try to finish my schooling and apply for a student visa and try to go to a university there before searching for employment?

If you marry her then that's not a problem. Without that you need some permission but that's not impossible to get. University... honestly I doubt that any here will recognize that and let you get degree here faster. Job ? There always... teaching English.

Life / Bringing new car (tax free) to Poland [6]

I'm not sure about It but I think that for cars not older than 2 years you don't have to pay tax. For older with engine 2000 cm3 or smaller you have to pay something like 5% of its value, with engine over 2000 cm3 something like 15%.

Travel / Tourism in Poland the plus and minus points for the natives [38]

so who were you talking about then?

What have you seen in Poland ? Kraków and Wrocław ? If you go to a "night club" in a small town you will find many weiridos on steroids just waiting for excuse to beat someone. Sometimes only for being from another town.

Travel / I'm going to Poland in September! [33]

I'd like to travel there - it's prime time for mushroom hunting.

You would have a big competition, many people here like mushrooming.

History / Polish Armaments/military equipment [8]

One I believe may be based off of a Russian design, though the model eludes me (perhaps Model of 1944)

Pistolet sygnałowy wzór 1944

It's the name of Soviet SPSz-44 ( other name SPSz-2) produced in Poland.

pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/SPSz

and the other is though to be a MOdel 78, based on H&K's design for the GErman military.

Pistolet sygnałowy wz. 78

It's Polish.

Travel / Tourism in Poland the plus and minus points for the natives [38]

But I wonder what the older generation think

It's rather not a young/old thing. Rather location. In Kraków there has been many tourists since really many years. I remember real hordes of Japanese there about 10 years ago. On the other hand in some small fogtotten town I could bet that a "stag party" wouldn't end up bloodless.

History / Poland-Russia: never-ending story? [1341]

Yes, you have an independent state, but remember the fact that it was russia which reesteblished Polish state in 1945 !!!

Your trying to be funny ?

Generally Russia can't be treated seriosly. You were spreading crap after we decided to join NATO and what happened ? Nothing, just like in many other cases... Now we don't really give a damn. The best exampel is this topic, which would have been left with 0 posts If some other Russian didn't start the discussion.

No post-communists prospering thanks to clan participation?

History / Poland-Russia: never-ending story? [1341]

No, Grzegorz, the point is that now without Soviet soldiers you are unable to write here that some traitors families still prosper following the opression of patriots in the past.

What... ?
