Travel / Kayaking in Poland [4]

I'm looking to hire a kayack in Miedzychod, Miedzyrzecz or Skwierzyna. Has anyone ever been to any of these palces?

Can anyone recommend somewhere a bit more advanced for kayaking in PL?

Thanks all-

Life / Things to be afraid of in Poland? [109]

The only thing in Pl that worries me is getting bitten by a stray dog. Luckily, I've only been attacked by dogs with muzzles :) Not much really scares me in PL. I drive in NYC, so the driving doesn't phase me a bit.

Life / The strangest things in Poland [468]

I think it's weird. I live in the US and not many people do it.

I don't think this is strange for the US. I do it every season. I guess it depends on your car,the traction you want and where you live. All seasons don't cut it for me.

I've noticed that there a lot of rules for taking a PL passport photo. This is strange to me because we can use just about any photo that's the right size.

funny warning sign for pedestrians crossing the road (it is a stick figure getting hit by a "stick car" and flying off balance)

The Street signs in PL can be funny. There's one in the US with a Mexican family running across. The mother has the baby by the hand flying in the air behind :)

Gotta love:

Law / "Texas style" steakhouse in Poznan. Worthy investment? [35]

Thanks for your opinions folks. I've seen PL people eating out everytime I've been out to eat. There are a lot of people with money in Poznan and I usually see them in Dom Vikingow or sth similar.

Wroclaw, you may be right. Do you think this would be more to accomodate foreigners rather than Poles?

Enjoy the match everyone. Good luck to you all.

Have you ever been to Mykonos? I had a somewhat decent filet from there, but it had a 2 inch block of garlic butter on top. It was a heart stopper, but delicious. If you like Italian, check out Figaro.

Have fun back home. I'll be in Poz in August, so maybe I'll try that place out.

Yeah, I saw that place last time I was there. It looks like a decent restaurant, but there weren't many people in there everytime I passed by. I could be because it was new. How big was the T-bone? Was it at least 20oz? I'd plan on opening a strictly steak joint with a la carte sides with a wide variety of wines and imported/domestic on tap and possibly a cigar room.

UK, Ireland / polish pilots nearly crash plane in britain [13]

It happened last yr, so I'd hope that they're being taught by now. It wasn't the smartest move. So, how much have you paid the PL pilots? What makes you think that you paid?

Life / Polish Youth - are they violent? [71]

I've experienced sth like this, but this is anywhere you go where kids can drink. I've also experienced what I thought was harassment. I was being heckled at by a few youths who were obviously quite buzzed and I assumed they were talking shite, but it turns out they were only shouting about us not being drunk enough and to go to the nearest pub. It was all a misunderstanding.

I've also discovered that 15yr olds and alcohol don't mix well. I had about 8 kids harassing me when I was watching the sea by myself in Chlopy. I was minding my own and they all walked past and kicked sand on me calling me Kurwa and all that good stuff. I could've easily taken a few of them, but it was just easier to walk away and chuckle. Sometimes it's good to zip it because when 1 fights, theyu all fight. There is no 1 on 1 from what I've experienced.

I've seen a few drunkards catch a beating late after the pubs close. I hear this happens frequently to them, but not sure if it's entirely true.

Poland is not as violent as you think. Where in PL were you?

Travel / Small Baltic coast places - where to stay ? [25]

Kołobrzeg is ok, but there are a lot of people to deal with. IMO a place like Chłopy, Sarbinowo, Mielenko or Gąski is more relaxing. Not too many people and a nice atmosphere. I'd stay away from Mielno. a lot of mafia there and there's always a fight. The areas west I'm not to familiar with, but I hear Hel is the #1 rated beach. I think Bwoo may have info about the beaches to the east.

USA, Canada / US Polonians complain about petrol prices... [11]

I know someone with a pointless (IMO)hummer. I talk to him about the gas prices and he doesn't care. He said "Well, if you can afford to buy an expensive suv then you can afford the gas for it". I have a VW GTI and the prices are still killing me.

USA, Canada / POLISH AMERICANS AND THE 2008 US ELECTION [79]

PAST my friend. I understand you're paranoia, but we must move on. Religion can be troublesome and I think we need to look at each other as people first.

We'll get through it Crow. I hope, for your sake and mine ;)

But you didn't answer my question. How can we practice foreign relations without meeting with people?

Why live in the past anyway Crow? It seems like you've made a home for yourself here.

Americans of Slavic origin should stay in contact with their original identity

These are still Americans regardless. Down with the USA will mean down with all of the slavs here too? Why the violent thoughts brotha?
