Well, I could easily show how different it is by asking forum members to translate into real standard Polish. If it needs to be translated, it's a different language. I think it's one step beyond a dialect when spoken by people from Chorzów, for example.

National socialists maybe. Beware of labels, though. Wise old Shawny, or was it RN?, said that the SNP are a bunch of nationalists but not in the negative sense of the word.

News / New York Post : "Polish" Death Camps and more [278]

That's a good point. It's reached fever pitch and emotion prevails over reason. I remember reading an article saying that Kosovo could never be Serbian like Jerusalem is to the Jews. The overwhelming support is for Israel to be the home of the Jews but BB is asking some good questions.

It looks as if you'll be off and running with that quite soon, Shawny. Good luck with it :)

They are very welcoming to immigrants. Just look back at Salmond's warm invitation to them. They are not nationalistic in the way you envisage, RN.

As long as the number of Indian restaurants is just about right, we don't need them, right? ;) ;)

I'm not speaking of non-EU immigration. As a law student, you should discuss our legal options. Should we be imposing quotas?

Scotland has many good IT graduates. My bro got First Class Hons and many like him did.

We are looking forward to people who have the right skills for the job. Why would we intentionally sabotage our job market by recruiting substandard labour? I keep stressing it, there are many jobs that Scots don't consider worthwhile doing and these vacancies are filled by immigrants.

College educated? That's sth to rejoice about, is it? There are many who possess the skills required for some technical jobs in Scotland, you can't dispute that.

By citing one example, you hardly nullify the validity of my point which stands. There is work for them but Scotland's problem is and as has been that there are too many Scots chasing too few jobs. They expect a higher standard but it isn't always there.

Was it Kim Jong Il that dropped the A-bombs in Japan?

An agreement to pay is an agreement to pay. That's why shopping around is important first. Them accepting a refund was a good thing in and of itself.

RN, you are more than welcome to comment of course. However, please grant us the courtesy to reply as we see fit as you seemed to be peeved when we said sth against your conception of how Ireland should be.

I know the job market in Scotland and there are many jobs that could be filled from people with skills from Polish technical school. Also, no offence to the Poles but many here admit that some of the less mentally capable folk came across. I remember being in the job centres and I can imagine Scots turning their noses up at some of those jobs. It has even been shown on documentaries. Poles win on most occasions.

I've seen people from the Baltic States plus Poland working in Inverness and they do a good job. They are probably paid fractionally less than most natives but they are willing to be so. As my brethren said, Scotland has different demographics and that can't be overstated.

Polish customer service is a little behind but there are some places which value it. My fiancee, for example, gets really angry when her colleague is slack and lusts only after the sale.

How much would the delivery truck have cost to get it back to the shop? The way I see it, they were good in agreeing to give you the money back in the first place. You agreed to pay 998PLN for it, they accepted so that's a contract. If you paid 100PLN to get it back then you'd still be 200PLN to the good or is there sth I'm missing here?

The good thing for immigrants is that we have a relatively stable tourism industry and jobs are there for the taking. It's not like we are filled with seasonal work which is good for those who are just passing through. Competition is fierce but at least the jobs are there.

News / POLAND'S POPULATION IS SHRINKING... [62]

You have to send some pretty Serbian women in to encourage procreation, Crow. In this way, a greater connection will be developed :) In turn, some Polish women could help out Serbian men in the future :)

Love / Do Polish guys think getting physically violent with a woman is OK? [40]

I was talking about those crazy women who like being abused, Shelley. There are those who don't leave such brutal men and even provoke them into such actions.

Plenty across the world. Ask a Pole what 'rodzina patologiczna' means.

I didn't mean it in the way you read it. Just stating fact though.
