Life / How to get Sky/other english channels visible from Poland? [15]

1. you will need a bigger dish
2. you will only get sky news
3. you will need someone to set it for you

4. canal+ programmes are in english.... just hit the language button.

Please give examples of the type of programmes you'd like to see. Then we might be able to help more.

News / Poland biggest problem [125]

Michal,

As usual. I disagree with [your] post #10

Your profile of Polish people might fit the older generation, but certainly not the younger one.

Life / Polish people hate jeans? [56]

I read on one of the travel sites that the Polish look down on jeans.

At the moment we have very good weather so few people are actually wearing jeans. I've never noticed any problems with jeans otherwise.

Travel / vacation in Krakow, where 2 go out? [12]

What about rest of the Poland.

It's possible to spend a couple of weeks on the Masurian lakes and never visit the same place twice. Great if you enjoy sailing. Also, the small lakeside towns have a wonderful atmosphere.

UK, Ireland / Flooding in Northern England [74]

I spoke on another thread about a similar situation here in Wroclaw ten years ago.
The people of England, involved in the flooding, really do have my understanding.

Love / The Polish girl i love has gone back to Poland . [65]

My relationship is in ruins. Let's blame the girl. After all it could never be me.

Sort yourself out.

It doesn't matter who you are or where you live. It is a fact of life that some of us get dumped at some time. It's not nationality specific.

Genealogy / Looking for Alexandra (Ola) [11]

Find a message board that serves the Warsaw area, post a message and hope for the best.

She could be married now and living anywhere.

If it is our Ola. May the Lord have mercy on your soul.

Life / Why do other Polish people hate Warsavians? [12]

Why do other Polish people hate Warsavians?

Possibly the pace of live in Warsaw affects the people who live there.

It would be similar to London. If you have a problem no-one has time for you. This makes Londoners/Warsavians appear stuck up or ignorant.

Of course I know it's not true, but some people have ideas in their head before they visit and some of them run deep.

News / Polish religious pilgrims crashed coming back from a pilgrimage [62]

To offer condolences is to offer a hand in a time of need. It might be in a virtual world and we may never meet the person involved, but I can think of more than one occasion on this forum where the recipient has replied. It matters not if you are religious or not. It is an understanding that someone is in grief and you care that matters.

UK, Ireland / Trying to find out what Poles like to do in the UK [35]

I never listen to any of it, it disgusts me!

This is all very much out of date. We don't drink tea out of glasses, we have instant coffee, tea comes in tea bags. It's a different Poland to the one you speak about. We go to Tesco for the shopping the same as you.

Please, do some research on modern Poland.

I never listen to any of it, it disgusts me!

You said on another thread that you do watch Polish TV. You said that you watch one of the Polish soaps to keep in contact with the language.

I do not think that even until recently the Polish Nation has ever seen white tiolet paper or would even know what to do with the staff.

Yet again, do some research.

Real Estate / Don't buy a house in Poland if you are British!!! Corruption!!! [67]

They claim that british people can't buy houses - Hello - Yes they can

In short: only for business purposes or when they bring something to the community.

Why do you think everyone else has been buying flats.

its within walking distance of the Wroclaw Rynek

Where ? There are no, single, houses that I know of within walking distance of Rynek.

Dont invest - Especially if you are British!!!!!!!!!

Agreed.

UK, Ireland / Trying to find out what Poles like to do in the UK [35]

I know pub culture isn't as big in Poland as it is here,

Are you serious ? Try and find a seat in a Rynek bar next time you're here.

We have over 100,000 students in this city. What do you think they do in the evening ?

Travel / Going to Wroclaw next week - good eats? [13]

There is a nice coffee shop on Swidnicka. Go downstairs for the comfy chairs

I'd be happy to join you, but I'm in Gateshead that weekend.
