Life / Want to buy Fiat Panda in Poland [6]

Does anyone have any opinion on buying a Fiat Panda?

There are a small economic car with good availability on parts....The down side is that they are not a good car to be in an accident with , and they seem to rust underneath pretty badly....I can recall two occaisions when i tried to jack up a panda belonging to a woman who had one. There was no place i could find any of the chassis strong enough to jack it up without going through the floor..The whole car was rotten underneath , and was not an old car....In an accident the whole thing would have folded up like a beer can.....If you buy one , have a real good look underneath....

Lidia Aleksandra Motylska was found after police were called to reports of woman being attacked in the Lincoln Green area on Tuesday evening.

news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/england/west_yorkshire/7062702.stm

19 year old Lidia aleksandra motylska from Poland who was working in Leeds UK as a waitress was found brutally murdered....As yet nobody has been charged with this crime.....Lidia had only been in the Uk for a few months , and was living there with her mother....I feel such sorrow for her family.....Another young life taken away......You can read about this terrible event by looking at yorshire post newspapers...

Life / Why do poles drink & drive? [82]

Look Bubba , in the past i have read many of your posts , and thought you came across as an ok kind of guy , i really don,t know what i said that caused you to get so uppity with me....I was only saying that my experiance of Polish drivers has not been a bad one....Maybe i have just been lucky , but i honestly have had far fewer near misses in Poland than i did in the UK...Maybe all the lunatics got killed before i got here , i really can,t say , but i can only give an opinion based on my experiance , and i have no reason to lie about that , what would be the point..?? It may be my first meeting with a bad Polish driver will be my last if i am Riding my Harley....Believe me , i would love to stick up for my Fellow English drivers , but eight years as a motorcycle courier gave me a great chance to experiance the worst of English driving....My Polish friends do tell me that Polish drivers are crazy , but lucky me just ain,t bumped into them yet....Now driving in Russia...a whole different story.....Sorry if i upset you buddy , lets call a truce eh...?

get you called a kunt

no worse than being called a liar...All i did was state my own personal experiances of many thousands of miles of driving in Poland....Unless you have had a secret camera following me around , you can,t possibly know if my statement is true or not , but you decided for your own reasons to say i am lying about it...If you think i am lying then thats fine , but why did you need to tell me this , it does not matter , its not important...don,t let it upset you , its just my words , not aimed at you ...If i could prevent everything i say being seen by you then i would , but i cannot .....

truthful about

You mean you think that lots of Polish drivers have almost killed or maimed me , but i don,t mention it in case i upset anybody...Possible , but not everso likely is it...OK..you sussed me out , actually i am recovering from having my legs amputated , after being injured by a crazy Polish driver , but don,t tell anyone , i want to keep it quiet...

Life / How much do you HATE POLISH PEOPLE and POLAND [1260]

Economic migration has been going on since the the first cave men and forest dwellers moved into another area when the bit they were living in got a bit scarce on food....It has always happened , and it will always happen...There is nothing you can do about it....Yes the UK is only a small island , and its going to be difficult to cope with a large influx of people from other countries , but cope we will...I don,t blame Polish people for wanting to go to the UK to earn good money and improve their life...I had eight of them living in my house in the UK , all working hard , and paying tax to the UK....I , on the other hand gave up my life in the UK to buy an old farm in Poland , something i could never afford to do in the UK.....In my case it was the way of life , and the people that attracted me rather than the cheap house prices , but i certainly would not have been able to do it if not for this fact...Economic migration is a fact , and i can,t see it changing....Unless we can clone a new prime minister for Poland and the UK from good old Adolf,s dna , not something anybody wants really......

blame a tree at the side of the road for causing an accident.

I didn,t actually say the trees were causing the accidents , only that its one of the causes of death in an accident.....You may be right about most deaths being pedestrians , but we are talking here about drinking and driving , a pedestrian is not a driver , unless he gets in a car......

Life / Why do poles drink & drive? [82]

In defence of Polish drivers i have to say that i don,t find them to be bad drivers , quite the opposite...As a motorcycle rider i have to say that so far i havent had any scarey near misses from looney car drivers as i did back in the UK...I think the high death rate in Poland is due to several factors...First the narrow roads , with trees close to the road , second , the Polish reluctance to wear a seat belt , and yes the fact that drinking and driving does seem to be more acceptable here...I don,t think the Polish drivers are worse than English drivers , but when they do have an accident they are more likely to die....Drive carefully folks...I like meeting Polish people , but i would rather it wasn,t head on in an accident....

Life / Why do poles drink & drive? [82]

I,don,t know much about the statistics , but can only talk about my experiance...In the UK if i went anywhere by car or bike , i would not drink any alchohol , and if offered any i would simply say i am driving...None of my friends had a problem with this , and i was never pushed to have just a little one....In Poland however most of the people i know think nothing of driving after drinking , and can,t seem to understand why i am reluctant to drink when i am driving...I am sure that there are people i know in the UK who drink and drive too , but its not looked upon as normal , and people would be reluctant to admit they drank and drove...In the small vilages around where i live in Poland there are few Police , so little risk of getting caught , whereas in the UK the risk of getting caught is much higher...In the UK its easy enough to get a taxi if you are going out for a drink , in the rural area,s of Poland this is not the case...There are not so many taxi,s about , and people in my area don,t have the money to spend on such luxuries anyway....Put all this together with the fact that a lot of my friends here are reluctant to wear seat belts , and add in the many roadside trees in Poland , and its not hard to see why the death rate is high in Poland...Last christmas i saw two people die as a result of drink driving , and thats a lot considering there is not so much traffic in this region...The christmas before my good friends father died when he swerved to avoid a drunk in the road...The car rolled over and he was thrown through the sunroof , he wasn,t wearing a seatbelt....I don,t watch Polish telivision , so i don,t know if they have anti drink drive adverts on tv , but in the UK we were constantly bombarded with drink drive warnings , and it became socially unaceptable to drink and drive....I think in Poland its still seen as ok among many people especially the young , and its going to take a lot of effort to change it....In the meantime i just hope all my Polish friends are still around next year , and don,t die as a result of drinking , or someone elses drinking.....

double strength polish beer is a myth.

You are right....what i should have said is that my favourite beer in Poland is double the strength of what i drank in the UK...and whatever the strength , Polish beer tastes a whole lot better....

News / Racist attack against Poles via Polish language [30]

Polish is difficult to learn.

I agree ..Polish is difficult to learn , but before anyone jumps down my throat , thats not an attack on Poland or its people...Polish is a very beautifull and colorfull language , and if i am to have a life here , then its something i have to do....I have to say tho , that some of my closest friends here are people that i can,t have a conversation with , but we are friends just the same....Sometimes what is in your heart can be comunicated without words......

Hello Gra....don,t take much notice of beer prices really...i just buy the stuff...but most things in Poland are about half the price you would pay in the UK....Beer prices vary , but i think about 50p a pint in English money...This ain,t bad as Polish beer is double the strength of UK beer...and much nicer...hope this helps.......a Brit in Poland...

News / Air-show accident in Poland [81]

Oooops....better correct the load of rubbish i just stated about the aircraft flying over my farm before someone else does......The planes flying over my farm are not su 27,s thats the one that looks similar to the mig 29...These beasts are either the su 22 or 24 , the su 22 is the single seat fighter version , and the su24 is the ground attack aircraft..(two seater)..They come over my farm at chimney pot height sometimes...I thought they must be the ground attack version , as they fly so low , but all the ones i have seen appear to be single seaters , so they must be the su22 , i guess they are practicing flying under radar...very impressive stuff....
