News / Abkhazia and South Ossetia are independent states now! Poland reaction? [236]

GB, which always dreams "to put its dirty and bloody hands" into Russia recources.

Not quite true - we have our own "resources" And I think that the British response has been a diplomatic one, there is a lot of Russian investment in the UK and a lot of British companies operating in Russia, it serves no purpose to cut off our nose to spite our face!

Love / Polish women are known for their beauty, but men are so ugly (most of).. [250]

I shave too and you know what ? I don't give a damn If according to you I "uglify" myself... Besides how the hell men may comment other's men attractivness ??

Well said pooch :)

Brad Pitt's

He's not real - plastic american who people will forget.

Winston Churchill

He's imortalised in bronze and type.

Obama is good-looking for a president, George Bush was just an ugly monkey.

I wouldn't say that! Obama is no oil painting.

You see, what one finds beautiful another finds disgusting....I'd rather have a man with inteligence than some pretty boy who couldn't string a sentence together and spent more time in bath room than I did!

Love / moving to poland to be together is this the right decision? [67]

I think he has a lot on his plate and life isn't always as simple as we would like...trying to please too many people can cause a whole lot of stress.

Only time will tell and only you will know what to do.

Good luck :)

I would insist on meeting his family before you let this go on any further. He is not treating you with the respect you deserve. He is a grown man, not a boy! Tell him to stop acting like one. Don't waste your life waiting for someone who is not willing to go out of his way for you.

Honey, not everyone wants to meet the "inlaws" - like you pointed out he is a grown man, maybe he prefers not to parade his girlfriends in front on mummy and daddy for inspection.

I would insist that he takes you to meet his family and his friends so you know exactly what kind of person you are putting your love/energy/dreams and future in to.

You can't always judge a man by his family, trust me I know this.

From what I have read you seems to have such low expectations from what you should be getting from this relationship. (i.e not living together, not meeting his family, keeping you and his other life seperate....) Just because you are an independent woman doesn't mean to say you shouldn't be allowed these things. I wonder if your previous relationships/marriage breakup has left you feeling like you don't deserve someones 100% commitment.?

We are all different...what you might find strange it is perfectly normal to another.

We don't know the ins and outs of this ladys situation so I think it's pretty unfair to judge him or her.

She sounds like she is aware of most things and I'm sure she will make her own mind up as to how she deals with it.

Life / "I love you" in Polish culture... [36]

what do you think?

It makes me cringe...Im of the same opinion of you, that it's a word to be used sparingly and only to be used when you MEAN it.

It's stronger than damn

It can be used as a comma

Yeah, like a speech break.

So Polish is somewhat different to English then because if I used a profanity as a pause (I could have put paws then just for your amusement but Im sure the porn...pawn experience was enough.....:) ) it wouldn't be polite to say the least.

they do all say kurwa a hell of a lot tho. :)

Yep, I was on the bus coming home on Friday and this guy (early 20is) was on the phone behind me he must have said kurwa about 40 times....amusing thing was there was an older guy (late 40is early 50is) sat in front of me who shook his head every time the guy said it...I guess it's more of a generation thing...same as the UK with kids that say fcuk every other word.

What does that mean - (or is it rude?)

fcuk

UK, Ireland / Integrating Polish people into the British society [150]

what do you think should change/ improve/ be implemented in the UK's city councils, job centre plus, local governmental bodies, etc.

Why should we change systems? The systems are put in place by British primarily for British people, No?

It doesn't help that the minimum wage isn't enough to actually live on,

35 hours per week on minimum wage is not enough to live on for a normal British person living on their own - you'd have to work circa. 60 hours a week to have any kind of life, where as if you share with several people Im sure minimum wage is quite alright, but what British person wants to share a flat with 7 other people?

Law / Coal Alternatives in Poland: The new electricity market [21]

How can I arrange funding for a wind turbine on my land from both the Polish government and the EU?

info on wind

You might be able to purchase the panels from the UK for solar power - it's really really big business here now: heatmyhome.co.uk/solar-panels/?m=200802 - solar energy.

Love / Presents for my other half, Lukasz from Poland. [35]

1) Okay for a thoughtful present - I did this for my ex :)

Not sure if they had "pop" chart in Poland but if they did, try and find them on line and down load on to a c.d. all the number one's on his birthdays for the last - how ever old his (so if he is 21 start from 1987)

2) You can get those - drive a sports car stupidly fast on a track days.

3) put a photo album together for him of him and his friends / family ect, get in touch with his parents and ask for photos (that's defo a winner)

There are so many things you can do, if you use a little bit of imagination :)

UK, Ireland / Benefits for separated Polish wife and 2 kids in the UK [90]

Does anyone actually understand the rules applied to A8 workers in respect of claiming benefits in the UK

yes they have to have contributed for 12 months.

Hence the reason I wrote this on the first page!

Unless she has paid NI she doesn't deserve a penny (fact) - It's a bit like a pay as you go mobile - if you don't have any credit you dont get any calls? Does that make sense to you?

Thats painful and difficult to justify.

You can understand why so many people come to the UK though. Just sign here madam and your benefits will be in your TSB bank account in a week and every week there after :)

I'm certainly not on about everyone of course, but I suppose those that had quite substandard lives in Poland (UK equivalent of scrounging chavs) find the lure of benefits somewhat hard to resist.

what is doing the british for stop this?

Nothing. Yet.

They would do it for me or you (although you aren't a mother, but for whatever else you might need) and that's the deal - if you need it, you get it; if you don't, you don't, but you count yr chickens that you aren't in that situation.
I think ...

LOL...

he is paying for everything so far over here as well, but can't afford to do so for very long

So now the English gov should pay?

But if they are separated and she needs to be independent

She should get a job? No?

this is when the state (whichever state) has a duty to assist.

Unless she has paid NI she doesn't deserve a penny (fact) - It's a bit like a pay as you go mobile - if you don't have any credit you dont get any calls? Does that make sense to you?

As hard as it is, she would be better off going back home.

But some people, as you see here, don't want to get it.

Because some people are so full of hatred towards Jewish people they will believe anything...Usually these people chose to live in the past citing incidents that happened over 100 years ago...Joe just loves to hates Jews, maybe someone should remind him Jesus was one ;-)

News / Engineers build train tunnel in Warsaw too small for trains... [18]

still ridiculous and somebody should be crushed for that...

If it's anything like the UK, the person responsible will have got a lovely big bonus and is now in charge of another large profitable (for his company of course) project :))))
